A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

NEW RULE ALERT!

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

I'm so tired yammers. Bone crushingly fed up with being on such high alert. Every move or twinge gives me the fear, I'm too scared to do much of anything, asleep by 9.30 then up half the night. A week til next epu appt still. Zzzzzz.

Hi all, have been a bit AWOL recently - sorry. All got a bit too much so I stepped away from it all. Tests, keeping track and Mumsnet. Feel so much better now - currently 7dpo and doubtful this will be our month but also not as obsessive as before which has got to be a good thing. Sorry to see so many of the same people here but hopeful to be able to hop back in for support xx

@NimbleKnitter wiah strawberry flavoured fish oil was a thing when I was you ger ad I had to take it growing up and I never got over the taste haha!

@limp just pour some Appletizer into wine bottles or something 😂 Or get alcohol free booze and put it into booze bottles haha, and have a laugh as family get "drunk" on alcohol free booze 😂.

Limp Tesco sell an alcohol free fizz which is ok (a little sweet for my taste but an ice cube in it helps). DO NOT TRY THE RED WINE - it is the devil's syrup Sad

Does anyone else torture themselves watching one born every minute? I don’t know why I do it but I do like that most episodes now they have a couple who has struggled with infertility. In amongst all the teenagers and people popping out their 8th kid, it’s actually kind of nice. There was a couple on tonight who had been ttc for 7 years with two failed IVF cycles and the woman’s mum was explaining how one day she just totally broke down and was like “mum, it’s never going to happen”. Hit me right in the feels

Congratulations on the BFPs,

Limp - I do think fake drinking is the way to go!

Wonky - good to hear of things ironing out a little.

Cycle 18 now, got FP on Monday. No 2018 baby. Remember thinking there would be a 2017 baby.

I’ve generally (I think) been quite good about things, been genuinely happy for friends with BFPs, not minding cuddling other people’s babies, handled questioning (of which there is a lot at my work). For some reason this month seems to have hit me harder though. Seeing all the families out for Easter, a couple of friends being into their second or third... Had a proper cry with DH, lost my mojo a bit this week.

Ho hum.

I wasn’t even expecting anything this month.

DH asked if he could have a signal to know where I was in my cycle. Asked if he did indeed really want to know and he said he did. He downloaded Ovia and I put in my password.

There has been a few things going on with him recently - work stuff, self esteem stuff. Maybe a coincidence but probably related, we then had performance related issues at key times so only managed a couple of times really early into FW. One non event and one ending in the wrong location. God I never thought I’d be scooping it in. New low!

@bubble I don’t watch it- don’t want to either torture or scare myself!

@diana it’s crazy how some months the whole TTC thing is under control and then bam! Floods of tears and hopelessness (I’m particularly fond of focusing on how damned unfair the whole thing is). I woke early with FP cramps but I knew we were out this month- had a similar pressure issue with OH last fw. So frustrating and adds yet more anxiety to the whole process. I was reading an article about the financial pressures the guys can feel during TTC- an awareness of having to provide etc. I’m pretty sure that’s what gets to my OH, despite my explaining that whatever happens financially we’ll find a way to manage. We had quite different upbringings which I think affects how we each see that (me raised in struggling single parent family, him in comfort with dad earning well). I hope you find a way to reassure him and it’s more successful next fw.

Wonky nope not til next weds. I'm sure I sound awful on a ttc board but the fear of repeated failure on this is just overwhelming.

Ha, Bubblegum I turned it off last night, just can't cope with the hope and fear.
