Thread 6... 😑

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

NEW RULE ALERT!

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

When I was TTC it improved cervical fluid, and unlike EPO you could take it every day.

Now I take it because I've convinced myself it's good for me - with zero evidence for that

NimbleKnitter · 03/04/2018 20:45

Take this with a pinch of salt

Oooh interesting! I'm having random spotting mid-cycle (cd14)... brown dc today with a wee little pink bit when I wiped. Bollocks knows what that means but maybe some more tablets/oils will help?

NimbleKnitter · 03/04/2018 20:49

Ovulation bleed?

WonkyDonk87 · 03/04/2018 20:52

Maybe....., have been furiously googling since 3pm Grin

Would that mean I've already ovulated or about to?

NimbleKnitter · 03/04/2018 21:10

Already ovulated. But only just

LimpLettice · 03/04/2018 21:21

No waiters Jaggy were laying in piles of booze ourselves. Very informal. But I'm sure I could hide a bottle of appletise under the table, but I don't suppose my nearest and dearest will fall for it.

WonkyDonk87 · 03/04/2018 21:23

"Laying in piles of booze" sounds very much like my teenage years Grin

WonkyDonk87 · 03/04/2018 21:25

Nimble if you're correct then I'm set for a 28-30 day cycle..... wonky is getting less wonky!!

Paranormalbouquet · 03/04/2018 22:37

Hi all, I’ve been offline for a few days, will have to catch up with everything now.

Got a call from hospital asking if I could go in for surgery as a cancellation on Friday but I just can’t make it happen as am flying Friday, and have commitments at work next week which will be difficult to cancel. So booked in for May 4th which is remarkably quick I think really.

WonkyDonk87 · 04/04/2018 08:08

That's really quick Para! Will you need much time off work after? How are you feeling about it?

Justwaitingforaline · 04/04/2018 09:20

Morning all.
paranormal that’s great news! How do you feel about it?

CD 27, af due tomorrow and after a stark white FRER on Monday, I know I’m out this month. Plus my boobs are like roadmaps which always happen when she’s coming.

On the plus side, a lovely MNer has given me a CB monitor and 19 sticks to use as she’s fallen pregnant and wanted to pass it on. Has anyone sued the dual hormone ovulation sticks? They look pretty fancy compared to my usual cheapie sticks!

LimpLettice · 04/04/2018 10:00

Advanced CB were the only ones I could get on with Justwaiting. Fmu, which is easy, and the flashing smiley means you know when to gear up a bit. Mind you first cycle I had like 10 days of lows and got a bit confused. After that I started them a little later in my cycle so as not to waste them and usually they were spot on. You can get replacement sticks on eBay and reuse the holder.

Paranormalbouquet · 04/04/2018 10:08

Pleased it’s quick, stressed about work as my boss is away that week but I think I need to put myself first! Surgeon says recovery similar to a section but I’ll get proper painkillers and won’t have a newborn to care for so hopefully not too bad. After my pretty awful section I was pushing pram up hills after 2 weeks so hoping to be back to normal by then. Probably just no lifting for a while.

NimbleKnitter · 04/04/2018 15:18

Did you have any other indications of ovulation?

egg white/watery cervical fluid? Opks? Are you temping?

(Ps to anyone wondering what is going on, I deffo recommend temping, if only for a few months)

LexieJean · 04/04/2018 15:41

Those who temp do you just use a regular thermometer?

Bubblegum89 · 04/04/2018 16:45

Lexie you have to use a basal body thermometer. It has to be one that goes to two decimal places, you can get them fairly cheap on amazon

Thanks @bubble might try that next sigh

Flopsymopsycottontailbuns · 04/04/2018 17:25

I read this thread expecting something completely different saw the word yam yam and thought you were on about people from dudley (!) Grin

Anyway... I've been through this, had 3 years of it before I got my baby and I know this is for people TTC and I'm not trying to be smug or interfere but just skimming it noticed two things;

@Bubblegum89 you mentioned migraines, I also suffer and know a quite a few people with migraines who struggled to conceive, never really though about it before but wondered if there is a link?

Secondly those mentioning light or clotty periods I've been told acupuncture is the way forward for these, wasn't my issue (I had no periods) but I know people who swear by it. Hope that helps someone and I wish you all the best of luck it is awful it really is I know but you will get there when you least expect it.

Pinkemi · 04/04/2018 17:29

So... i have a bit of a naive question to ask.. But does anyone else get globby yellow mucus? the only way I can describe it.. is a mixture of creamy and EWCM mixed together.. and its yellow.

Been googling and most things say early pregnancy sign (I'm not going to get excited as I dont think its my month again) or BV. I've just got rid of BV and am not having any other symptoms so I really hope its not that!!

Justwaitingforaline · 04/04/2018 17:31

I currently have globby EWCM type mucus, pink! no idea what it means but FP is due tomorrow so will report back! Also recently got rid of BV as well

DoAsDreamersDo · 04/04/2018 18:08

Well it looks as though I won’t be getting my holiday next month because I got my BFP instead. I took a test on Saturday afternoon and got a faintish line, so tested again on Sunday morning and got a nice strong line 😮

I might stick around and check in on you now and then if that’s ok, because you’re all fab and I wish you all the best of luck xxx

Cariad2017 · 04/04/2018 18:15

Enormous congratulations Dreamers. This is wonderful news. Why can’t you go on holiday with a BFP though?

I’d love to hear your stats if you are willing to share (what cycle; any issues; what you did differently this month etc.) - I know that the more regular yammers may be all over this, but I’m not and am always intrigued. Xxx

minime2017 · 04/04/2018 18:19

Congratulations Do! Lovely news 🎉

DoAsDreamersDo · 04/04/2018 18:25

Thanks Cariad and minime

I could go on holiday still, but we were going to go long haul and have a booze time, but now we’ll be saving every penny we can.

We were on cycle 11 so no known problems yet, but we would have been going for investigations next month. We didn’t really do anything different this month and put this down to luck. I did cut down on sugar and started taking maca root exctract if you believe that they could make a difference. I also stopped tracking my fertile days and decided to just have sex when we felt like it.
