Anyone TTC 2 years+?

Been TTC for 2 years now and AF arrived today so absolutely gutted. Seen three doctors in the last year who don't feel there is anything to worry about (one even said I will be pregnant before he 2 year mark!) DH has had a semen sample done (all normal) and I have had two blood tests for thyroid and progesterone and all normal. I think because DH and I are slim, fit and healthy, don't smoke or drink, the docs don't feel the need to do any more tests. I'm booking another appointment to push for scans but wondered if there were any positive stories of folks who conceived naturally after trying for more than 2 years? Otherwise it looks like it will be the IVF route for us.

Hi jammie this is a really friendly thread of long term ttc-ers and they have the answers to pretty much every TTC related question. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/infertility/3094426-thread-33-ttc1-from-warm-wombles-to-needles-and-exploding-boobs-we-ve-got-it-covered-join-us-we-love-to-talk

All id say is if it doesn't feel right to you then it probably isn't and definitely push for tests

@Eva30 Thanks Eva, I'll pop over and have a look Smile

Hi, you need to push for more tests. Have you had your tubes checked? Internal checks? Genetic testing?
I had all of the above and they gave me answers.. the initial blood and sperm tests said everything was fine.. so initially was to unexplained infertility... I then had dye ran through fallopian tubs to check they weren't blocked and keyhole investigation which discovered endometriosis. After a few miscarriages we also had genetic testing which discovered an issue with DH chromosomes that he's a carrier of. There could be many different reasons but don't be afraid to keep asking 'what test can I have next'.
Good luck to you x

Hi @bluemoonchances I hope you don't mind me asking but what route were you advised to take after discovering this problem? It's a possibility we are facing now also but I don't know what it means for TTC.

bluemoonchances · 23/02/2018 22:29

After having bloods and sperm test GP referred ya to fertility clinic at hospital. I then had the dye test and keyhole surgery for internal examination. We didn't get offered the genetic test until after a MC that I went into hospital for. We had that fetus tested which showed genetic problem and then we had blood test for that. It's a long road and it's often months waiting for appointments so don't be afraid to ask and push x

@bluemoonchances Thanks Blue Moon. I think it's odd to not have a BFP after 2 years which makes me suspect I may have blocked tubes. I saw a GP on Thursday who shrugged me off saying they won't refer me until March when it has been exactly 2 years. I said by the time relevant tests are done and I was to go down the IVF route I could be looking at a 1-2 year wait, by which I will be 37 but he says they would fast track me due to my age? It sounds like the doctors are just trying to fob me off Angry

See another gp. It took me four different GPs to find one who cared, who would listen...

bluemoonchances · 23/02/2018 23:20

Go back and play hell! After 30 if not conceived after 6 months nhs guidelines are to be referred. Don't mean to scare you but your at an age where some options are running out (I'm 39 and my cut off is 40 for the treatment I've got to have.. have been TTC for nearly 8 years) see another Doctor if you can as PP said x

@bluemoonchances Thanks Blue Moon. Will definitely push for something to be done as I feel time is running out! Hope things work out for you too x
