Has anyone tried Agnus Castus?

I've done a bit of googling and apparently Agnus Castus is a good herbal remedy to kick start your ovulation or help it stabilise your CDs.

Has anyone tried it or had success?
CD 80 since coming off Cerelle and no withdrawl bleed or period yet.

No sorry but my cycles are being stupid atm so I’m interested too...bump 😊

ppeatfruit · 08/01/2018 15:13

I'm into alternatives and I recommend you trying it. They don't always work for everyone (like prescribed medics). I used Dong quoi.

Also look at your diet.

Trytrytry2018 · 08/01/2018 15:14

ppeatfruit what would you suggest re diet? 😊

Youresovain · 08/01/2018 15:15

Yes I took it when I was preparing to ttc my second, as my cycles are 45 days!!!
I fell pregnant the first cycle so it may have worked for me but could have been a fluke.

Trytrytry2018 · 08/01/2018 15:16

Youresovain oh that’s really interesting, can I ask where you bought it from please?

ppeatfruit · 08/01/2018 15:19

Well maybe more fresh food, less sugar\sweeteners and no pork products cut right down on alcohol, coffees etc. I don't know what you normally eat or drink though of course!

Oh melissa\lemon balm is great for that too.

Youresovain · 08/01/2018 15:21

I'm pretty sure I got it from either Amazon or eBay it was a while ago now! I know I got the 1000mg tablets.

Trytrytry2018 · 08/01/2018 15:21

ppeatfruit I’m a veggie but I do eat too much sugar and caffeine so think I will look into cutting that out. Thanks for the tip 😊

ppeatfruit · 08/01/2018 15:27

Also wheat can be a bit of a problem for some people! Do you take a good multivit or digestive supplement like Viridian?

I'm not on commission btw Grin

I have perfect cycles but had unexplained infertility (it was mainly stress). Tried everything, took angus castus for three months, a normal pharmacy over-the-counter dosage, tripled the recommended dosage. It did nothing for me. Just messed up my perfect cycles by a day or two. Maybe it will work differently for someone else or you need really high dosages on prescription.

Then, a year later, in order to not get winter flu, I took high dosages of vitamin d for one month (20,000mg daily, on prescription) plus over-the-counter zinc, et voila! Magic!

Good luck 🍀

Cynara · 08/01/2018 15:43

I took it. I used to have long, irregular cycles (80 days, 55 days, 40 days etc) and from about the second month of taking it my cycles were shorter (about 36 days on average) and a lot more regular. After about 8 months we stopped using condoms to ttc and I was pregnant the first month. Absolutely amazing, we couldn't believe it. I'd definitely recommend giving it a go.

MynameisJune · 08/01/2018 15:46

I’ve used AC for about 7 months this year as my cycles were crazy short. It worked to help regulate my cycles but it was not the magic pill for conceiving that it has been for some.

This cycle I’ve gone back to EPO as I was taking that when I conceived my daughter.

It’s probably not a good idea for someone with a good cycle but in your case I’d give it a try. I got 1000mcg tablets from Amazon.

Praisebe · 08/01/2018 15:49

I use it i take 1000mg daily everyday and its amazing Grin made me ovulate for the first time ever after 2yrs of unexplained infertility the doctor's we're amazed

Thisisanoutrage · 08/01/2018 15:51

I used it to have both my children. First pregnancy I miscarried and then didn’t have a period for 5 months, i took Angus Castus for two weeks and fell pregnant that month. DS is now 7.

Then used it again when I went on to conceive my 2nd DC and fell pregnant first month of trying.

I did also try to cut carbs and excercise more. I suspect I have PCOS as a lot of the women in my family do. If I left my body to it’s own devices without contraception etc. I would only have 3 or 4 periods a year, so had thought I might never have children.

I used the liquid from a Amazon.

Whizziwig · 08/01/2018 15:51

I used it when I had post-pill amenorrhea. My period returned about 4 weeks after I started taking it but that may have been coincidence. I think you have to be careful about taking it if you are actively TTC.

allegretto · 08/01/2018 15:53

I had regular cycles but took it for PMT - it really messed up my cycles and I got a really heavy period just a few days after starting it. It could be a coincidence but it is the first time that has happened and I am not chancing it again.

QuiteLikeable · 08/01/2018 15:56

Yes, when I had come off the pill and my period never re-materialised for the next year. I was pregnant the next month, before I even had a period. I guess I ovulated the once and got pregnant.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 08/01/2018 16:07

I used it along with evening primrose oil when ttc my second. I’d had a mmc and was struggling to conceive again following it. I had a really short and light period when I started (which is unheard of for me) and conceived that month so I think it did something for me!

weekfour · 08/01/2018 16:13

I took it to help with painful periods- and it worked fantastically. I now have a surprise DD3. Totally unplanned, post vasectomy. It certainly made me fertile.

BexleyRae · 08/01/2018 16:13

I took agnus castus, dong kwai and drank raspberry leaf tea to kick my periods when coming off the injection. I don't if it definitely worked by my periods came back after 3 months

Redisthemagicolour · 08/01/2018 16:17

Yes! I needed clomid to conceive dd1 due to irregular periods thanks to pcos. Ds was conceived naturally but after his birth periods went all over the place again. After a 10 week plus cycle I started taking Angus cactus and the next month my cycle was 30 days. The next month dd2 was conceived without any real 'trying' (we weren't using contraception and were happy to fall pg but not timing sex to fertile period or anything).

She's now 7 and I use Angus cactus to help control my pmt symptoms.

LifeOfRiley63 · 08/01/2018 16:22

I have to say ladies, you have given me real hope reading all of your responses. I have been feeling really low and glum and hopeless today so your stories have really cheered me up! Fingers crossed!!

Can anyone post a link to the tablets they used? I just had a look on Amazon and the only ones I could find were £50! Is that the price they're meant to be?

Sounds like amazing stuff for sorting out long cycles!

Whizziwig · 08/01/2018 16:49

I got mine in Holland and Barrett.

LifeOfRiley63 · 08/01/2018 16:54

@SpadesOfGlory eBay about £5 x
