Ladies, the old thread has now closed so I created a new one but can't post the link, hopefully you'll find it and we can continue.

I have no idea what IUI or Hycosy is. I should really have a look into next steps. Doctor has referred me to gynaecologist but I don't know what more they do NHS when it's not our first?

Cleozeta · 04/03/2018 14:44

I don't think much more can be done on NHS if you are over 40 or already have children.
I'm not sure what HyCoSy is either! IUI is insemination. The step before IVF. I draw the line at IVF as thats way to expensive and full on

Cleozeta · 04/03/2018 14:45

My GP said not to do anything until I've been trying for 2 years. Sod that.

Orchid222 · 04/03/2018 18:01

Ali-why don't you do HyCoSy on nhs? It'll save you money and I hear many private clinics take nhs results. I'm spending so much in the Chinese medicine that that alone would buy me a couple cycles if IUI hence I'm questioning how much longer to do it for...I think I'll stick to my plan if 6 weeks and try IUI. The Chinese lady said don't go for IUI until you've at least done 3 cycles here but easy for her to say she's getting richer and I'm getting poorer lol. Hopefully it will do some good though.

I can’t get HyCoSy on the NHS.

Orchid, is your woman local to you or central London? I think 3 months make sense - I think the egg cycle is something like that.

Cleo, remind what your FSH results have been so far? I understand your plan of action and we would def throw more money at this if we could.

I feel like I’m oving today on cd8! Which might explain my poor results last week - or perhaps I’m clutching at straws. The cycles in which I had the decent results, ov was cd11. I have read online that blood results vary from cycle to cycle. AMH corresponds to how many follicles are developing.

JoJoyorker · 04/03/2018 19:10

I think I might have asked this before but what supplements do you take? I've only been taking conception Vits, inofolic and Ubquinol but I've been researching and have ordered vitamin B complex. Is there a thing else I should try I wonder. I am getting on a healthy eating regime next week I've been pretty slack recently and feel like I need to give it my all for the next year.

JoJoyorker · 04/03/2018 19:11

My GP said two years but when I said I'm over 40 he said six months. I was surprised to be referred I thought NHS help would stop after hormone tests. I'm interested to see what comes from the referral.

Orchid222 · 04/03/2018 19:27

Ali my Chinese woman is in Surbiton.
Jojo-what were you referred? My referral progressed quite quickly. I'm anxiously waiting for AF now to book HyCoSy

Orchid222 · 04/03/2018 19:31

And surbiton isn't that local to me but it's a 15 min bus ride so it works out fine.

What is a hycosy?

Alibaba2 · 04/03/2018 21:13

It’s a procedure to check the tubes are open. They flush saline and dye/foam into the uterus and tubes during an ultrasound scan.

Cleozeta · 04/03/2018 21:40

Ali - my FSH was 10 in August and 18.4 in January. I'm starting to wonder if the soy isoflavones may have raised it, but then I read somewhere that they are supposed to lower it! Am a bit worried about the rate of the leap in just 6 months, I just hope it doesn't keep going that way! That's why I am throwing TCM and all sorts at it. Would love to get more FSH tests to see if there is a pattern but GP didn't offer anything else. No more tests and certainly no referals. He says NHS can do no more than the basic tests now, and it could take up to 2 years over age 40 so I should wait until 2 years is up then go private. I don't think I have that long.
Jojo - I am taking prenatals, ubiquinol, vit B complex (but only in 2nd half of cycle) EPO (only in 1st half) wheatgrass and royal jelly.
I'm a bit worried this cycle as I feel I may be going into an anovulatory one. Will have to wait and see

JoJoyorker · 04/03/2018 22:20

That's a massive change in FSH. I didn't know it could change as quickly as that. How strange. Why do you take B complex in 2nd half of cycle?

Alibaba2 · 04/03/2018 22:52

I think FSH can vary from cycle to cycle. My first was done Nov 16 and it was 9.1. Jan 17 it was 7.3 and now Feb 18 it’s 11.2.

Cleo, when did you first take soy?

Alibaba2 · 04/03/2018 23:05

And do you know what kind of cycle you had when FSH was tested in August and what kind of cycle in January? And were both on the same cycle day?

This is looking to be a 22 day cycle for me whereas it was taken previously in a 28 day cycle (Jan 17, cd1) or 26 day cycle (Nov 16 cd3).

I have had the odd 20 day cycle but normally it’s around 25-26 days. So maybe if FSH is taken in an unusual cycle it’s not that accurate?

Cleozeta · 05/03/2018 07:59

Jojo - I only take B complex in second half as thats the part that needs extending. Recently the first half of my cycle has been a good length (between 13 - 16 days) I worrt if I take the B vits then, it will lengthen it, whereas the second half is only 11 days so needs to be longer. I apparently works quickly! It's my own logic and may be codswollop.

Ali - my first FHS of 10 cycle was a crazy anovulatory one which lastest 3 months. The FSH of 18.4 was a normal one where I ovulated. I was quite surprised, I had thought as my period had regulated my FSH would be lower. It was a bit of a shock.
I started soy straight after my crazy August cycle ended (medically forced) and took it every cycle between then and latest FSH (did not take it on that cycle though)

Cleozeta · 05/03/2018 08:02

FSH 10 was random cycle day, FSH 18.4 was cd5
Really want to have it done again soon, actually on CD3

Karigan1 · 05/03/2018 09:10

Sorry ladies been sick in hospital. Hope you are all ok.

My ears just pricked up at vit b complex extending cycles. Could you tell me more please?

JoJoyorker · 05/03/2018 09:15

Thanks Cleo. I'm the same so will probably do what you do. Hopefully it will arrive this week. Oh no karigan hope you are ok.

Cleozeta · 05/03/2018 10:06

Hope you are ok karigan!
Vit B complex is used by a lot of people to lengthen cycles, it apparently works quite quickly. No idea how good it really is, but I'd say it's worth a try! A lot of people use it all through the cycle, esp if they have a short 1st part. I used it last cycle and my LP was extended by 2 days but that may have been the TCM too

Karigan1 · 05/03/2018 10:12

Thanks Cleo. Is it literally just called vitamin b complex?

Cleozeta · 05/03/2018 10:46

Yep vitimin B complex, available pretty much everywhere that does vitimins, and not too expensive either

crivit · 05/03/2018 13:31

Hi again all

I did indeed get a BFN on my birthday with AF arriving 3 days later. On the plus side it was back down to a 35/6 day cycle after the 8 week one prior to that. I've upped my soy this cycle after taking it for the first time last cycle. I also take EPO (until (approximate shakes fist at body) ovulation, Ubinquinol with b6, b12, vit d, a pre-natal multi vit, a calcium / magnesium / zinc mix and some extra folic acid. I rattle... I'm on CD9 so left it a bit late but I think I'm going to buy some graprefruit juice today and have a glass a day until I think I've ovulated as well.

Hope you're on the mend Karigan!

Karigan1 · 05/03/2018 14:28

Thank you. Will be soon I think!

Got my 7dpo blood tests back. All normal.

Progesterone 50
Lh 2.4
Fsh 3.0.

From reading what you guys say that looks ok to me. What do you think?

Karigan1 · 05/03/2018 14:28

Oh and thank you Cleo :)
