Coming off Cerelle

Hi all,

New to 'MumsNet' so not too sure on how it all works but I was posting to see if anyone on here has experienced the same symptoms as me.... I have tried looking for posts on 'Cerelle' but all of them are really old....

I recently finished my last pack of pills on the 16th Dec. The following day I had a two day bleed and then stopped for 12 days and had another two day bleed, which I was assuming was the withdrawal bleed? But in the mean time I've become SO spotty, my boobs are agony, I'm always bloated and I keep getting heart palpitations. I have come off the pill because I wanted to give myself a break and let my cycle go back to normal before me and my partner start trying for our first baby.

Bearing in mind I have been on this type of pill for 2 years with NO periods I'm worried they aren't going to come back easily....

Has anyone else experienced these symptoms? How long did it take you to get back to normal?

Thanks in advance 😊💁🏻

... take longer than I thought for my body to get back to normal. Everyone is different bit I've found this thread really helpful. Thanks for sharing your experiences :)

P.s sorry about the 2 part message. Clicked post by accident. As I say, I'm new here!

ItAllStartedHere · 03/10/2019 18:00

Hey @AdventureAhead I hope your journey is shorter than ours is being. My time line update is I'm still waiting for my period. It's "late" according to the average cycle length, but obviously I don't know how long mine should be. I've done a test and I'm not pregnant, so is back to waiting. I'll update here when I know more but I do have a blog where I do updates too.

Sophydophy · 12/10/2019 21:09

So glad I found this chat. I've come off the pill, cerelle at the beginning of september mainly because we went away for the weekend and I forgot it so I thought after 3 yeara I'll have a break. Still no period and no sign of sore boobs, but I've got a massively short fuse, bloating, back ache and period pain but still nothing and no chance of being pregnant! I've never wanted a period so much!

BECKY5544 · 11/11/2019 16:28

Hi there wondering if anyone can help me?

Me and my partner are TTC our second child I came off cerazette in September 2 weeks late had a withdrawl bleed which lasted 6 days and still no period I'm starting with almost like pregnancy symptoms ( sore boobs, lower back pain, neausua) done a test and it's a BFN :( with our first child I fell pregnant within a month of stopping cerazette this time it's taking longer is this normal?

Py03ehs2 · 12/11/2019 22:20

Hi I'm new to this but I have read this thread a few times and been scared to post but here goes! so we got married end of September so I stopped taking the cerelle on our wedding day. I decided to take a break and get my normal cycle back before trying for a baby in the new year. Anyway had sore boobs as soon as I came off like Madonna vogue type sore! even my clothes brushing past was agony. Anyway got sore again a couple of weeks ago but can finally say I got my period today! Physically feeling ouch but mentally I'm feeling normal and realised how much I want this. I was worried as I went for an xray after a bad fall last week and nurse advised me should of had a period in first four weeks and to go to my gp next month if I hadn't. Anyway this bleed is not heavy but not spotting would this one still be a withdrawal bleed even though I've waited 2 months? Tia and thanks for posting your journeys helped a lot whilst waiting for pmt.

StaceyTinn · 12/11/2019 22:36

Hi becky5544, I came off 21-9-19 and got my period today only previously had sore boobs neusea and back ache. I've not had any spotting or bleeding I'm told up to 3months is normal. I've been taking folic acid and maybe coincidence but I started exercise last night and today I got my period haha.

PM86 · 12/11/2019 22:41

Hello lovely people! First post from me! Just looking for some advice/reassurance! Came off Cerelle in August and had first period/bleed in November. 10 days later and it's still going... did anyone else find this? Thanks in advance! X

StaceyTinn · 12/11/2019 23:40

@PM86 I have came off in Sep and got one today so I will let you know how I get on. It was my first post today too.

BECKY5544 · 13/11/2019 00:29

@StaceyTinn thanks very much for the information i stopped mine on the 22-09-19 so we will keep our fingers crossed that my period comes soon :) glad to know I'm not the only one in this boat was beginning to loose my mind haha Grin

Sophydophy · 13/11/2019 17:52

@PM86 I came off beginning of September and still nothing!! Not even had any symptoms or withdrawal bleeds. My doctor said it's fine

yellowpurple85 · 13/11/2019 18:39

Hi I had to wait 89 days to get my first period after coming off the pill and it lasted 21 days. My Doctor says it's all ok and just have to wait it out, because you can ovulate more than once if it's a long time between each AF.

Sophydophy · 13/11/2019 20:48

@yellowpurple85 I've still got some time yet then Confused

BECKY5544 · 13/11/2019 21:34

@Sophydophy hopefully it will come soon for you I know how frustrating it can be and for me a bit worrying as I said before with my first child I fell pregnant 1 month after stopping pill had a withdrawl bleed then got my BFP so this time around it a bit confusing

PM86 · 13/11/2019 22:47

Thanks guys! Guess I just need to wait it out! Smile xxx

StaceyTinn · 13/11/2019 23:45

@PM86 mother nature has been on form today so hats off to you 10days and counting! @Sophydophy have you logged your temperature to see if your ovulating despite no period as you still can. Also are you taking pre conception vitamins we started them and tried stress relief activities to help restart your hormones.

ItAllStartedHere · 14/11/2019 06:27

Hi new people

I'm still on this crazy journey. Just wanted to say I have a blog recording my journey if it helps I have put a record of when things happened for me too on my most recent post.

itallstartedhere19.blogspot.com/2019/10/the-first-6-months.html?m=1

I hope it might be helpful.
I'm still waiting and learning too so let's keep talking about this!!

Sophydophy · 14/11/2019 12:17

@StaceyTinn I havent really done anything I just thought I'd wait. I know my moods have been horrendous. I've had a series of illness as well and I've had every blood test taken and nothing untoward came back. I was pushing for then to check for other issues of chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia but as soon as I started for this every symptom stopped. So I'm closely monitoring every single thing at the minute. So I will add that to it now too

TinyTurtle1989 · 16/11/2019 10:51

New to mumsnet. Glad I found this post. Only came off of cerelle 2 weeks ago to try for second baby. Have had no withdrawal bleed or any symptoms since coming off unlike when I have come off in the past so was a little confused. Sounds like I may have a while to wait for AF! Glad it all sounds completely normal though Smile

MartyJ17 · 20/11/2019 08:22

Hi everyone this is my first post. Reading all your comments has be so reassuring! I came off cerelle 2 weeks ago and have just had my first period which lasted 5 days. The weird thing is it was heavy those days and then just stopped. Without getting any lighter. Had really sensitive boobs and bad lower back pain but seems to have gone now. I am still feeling really bloated though, has anyone else had this? TIA x

StaceyTinn · 14/12/2019 09:51

Hi all, so I've came on yesterday 2nd period since coming off cerelle and this would be classed as my first real one is that right? My previous one withdrawal period. Iam really light and in agony has anyone else had this. I have ibs too so can't work out if pain is one or the other haha

Saraheva · 06/01/2020 07:16

Hi i stopped the cerelle pill for a few weeks now and i was wondering does anyone feel dizzy or light headed and just not themselves. Luckily i dont have sore boobs.
Tho i have had a few times discharge with blood in it not much could anyone help and tell me what this could be? Myself and my partner decided to stop the pill and see what happens.

Sheaintnomamyet · 22/01/2020 22:22

Saraheva · 23/01/2020 01:40

Hi there again. Not many people have responded to my question.

I stopped taking the pill around start of Dec end of Nov I guess. Tho I haven't had a period yet is that normal??
Me and my partner are trying to have a baby so I am worried I haven't had a period. Can I still get pregnant? I was on the pill there for over 3 years. The last few weeks my harmones were all over the place. Tho now I'm okay boobs a little tender still but dizzyness and mood swings have past lol hope to hear from you all soon ❤️

Ilzaer90 · 23/01/2020 20:40
