Hi all,

New to 'MumsNet' so not too sure on how it all works but I was posting to see if anyone on here has experienced the same symptoms as me.... I have tried looking for posts on 'Cerelle' but all of them are really old....

I recently finished my last pack of pills on the 16th Dec. The following day I had a two day bleed and then stopped for 12 days and had another two day bleed, which I was assuming was the withdrawal bleed? But in the mean time I've become SO spotty, my boobs are agony, I'm always bloated and I keep getting heart palpitations. I have come off the pill because I wanted to give myself a break and let my cycle go back to normal before me and my partner start trying for our first baby.

Bearing in mind I have been on this type of pill for 2 years with NO periods I'm worried they aren't going to come back easily....

Has anyone else experienced these symptoms? How long did it take you to get back to normal?

Thanks in advance 😊💁🏻

I am.on my second period in a row so hopefully it's back to normal. I use an app to track my period and ovulation.

Hi ladies,

I've been searching for people that may be going through the same situation as me....and I found this thread.

I came off Cerelle on 14th February having been on it for 5 years (was on combined pill prior to this). Had minor spotting 11th-13th March and had nothing since.

I came off to give my body a chance to get in a cycle before we TTC. I thought it would be straight forward and was not expecting to be waiting for AF! I've had constant stomach cramps, sore boobs etc over that time.

Had my smear test yesterday and nurse said that there was some blood on my cervix (TMI) so that may be a sign AF is coming but still nothing.

Feel like I'm becoming obsessed. Wished I'd come off it sooner! Sad

Thank you for your kind words @RLl1105. Hoping you hear some good news soon!!

@Latetothegams83 I am the same, did not expect to be waiting for AF. Definitely feel like I’m a bit obsessed too.

I’ve been off Cerelle 24 days and still no sign of bleeding. The waiting is so difficult. I’ve wanted to TTC since January and now waiting till June feels like forever away.
Is it best to use OPKs? So much more complex than I thought this Grin

@Louxo If it helps, my nurse was right, AF arrived this morning! It's been 51 days since I stopped Cerelle so at 24 days it's still early days for you. I had no other bleeding up to this point so was getting stressed. Hopefully you don't have quite so long a wait.

Personally I was waiting for my first AF to arrive before trying to work out ovulation dates. It seemed a bit of a needle in a haystack up to that point!

I'm using Clue app and it's now working out dates for me. Good luck Smile

So AF is here - 80 days after stopping the pill! I did have 4 days of spotting before today so if you’re spotting hang in there!

Report
AllTheGlitter · 06/04/2019 17:15

Also I’ve had sore nipples for 2 weeks before it came, hope AF arrives soon for those waiting!

@Latetothegame83 51 days, that's crazy! I'm glad AF has finally arrived for you. I presumed it would come after 3-4 weeks, or have some sort of bleeding. Have not had any spotting or anything.

@AllTheGlitter 80 days is a long wait! Glad it's finally here and you can start tracking cycles. Smile

It's great we can all talk to each other and share our journey together. I will just have to try and wait patiently Smile

Hi.
I’ve just read this whole thread, it was a bit of a rollercoaster. Congrats to those who have conceived and hang in there those still trying.
I’m about to come off Cerelle this weekend having been on it for 5 years with no period. I was hoping to get an idea of time before we would be ready to conceive but what I’ve learnt is it’s a bit of a pot luck. Confused

I will post my updates in the hopes I might be able to offer more hope or guidance for others as we start this journey to get my cycle back on track. Then we can start trying for a baby.

Hi Smile

Hey @ItAllStartedHere Welcome! You will have to keep us posted with your journey :)

I had my withdrawal bleed this week. Started 8th April and finished 12th April. Started 27 days after I stopped Cerelle. Every day I had been worrying if it had come and obsessing and then after reading the advice on here, I realised that it might take some time and decided not to worry about it. And the next day it came.

Just hoping it doesn’t come over my holiday in June now as will be around that time.

Hope everyone else on here is doing okay :)

Hi guys, just to update you, I seem to have had my withdrawal bleed and then my AF back to back! Started spotting heavily Tuesday 2nd then spotted heavily until this Thursday where I woke up with a massive headache and stomach cramps and then started full AF!

Hi everyone, hope I’m ok to join your chat? 😊
Me and my husband have recently decided to start trying for baby number 2.
I stopped taking my Cerelle 3 weeks ago on Thursday coming and for the past two weeks have been getting spots, sore boobs, cramps on the one side every now and then and back ache yet still no withdrawal bleed or period.
Unfortunately I can’t remember how long it took for it to come out of my system before 😣 normally if I’d ever accidentally missed one or taken one late I’d start bleeding but so far nothing at all.
I was hoping I’d be able to get a rough idea from the chat but from reading I guess there is no rough time and it’ll just happen when it does

Congratulations to those who have conceived and best wishes to those still trying Smile

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted on this thread for a while but I thought I would give you all an update.

So I took my last Cerelle 30th December. I had a withdrawal bleed just over 3 weeks later and then a month after that I got my first period and then it seemed to settle into 28-30 day cycles.
I was using temp and OPK's to see when I was ovulating.

Anyway, so, I'm pregnant! It's very early (4+3) but it was our first month actively tying to TTC.
Hopefully that's some good news for people if they're worried. I was on the pill and had the implant non-stop for 7 years and it hasn't hindered us.

Good luck to the rest of you!

@RLI1105 congratulations on your news!

Just for an update.
Last time I posted on here I had been told to prepare for the worst following an early scan. I went back for another scan a week later and a miracle had happened and there was a heartbeat and the sac shape had become regular. I am now 10.5 weeks pregnant

Good luck to everyone else on there TTC journey. Smile

I also forgot to add that I predicted my ovulation dates based on a typical cycle length from the date of my first period after coming of cerelle. However I actually conceived nearly 10 days after my predicted ovulation. So when your body is still adjusting to coming off the pill keep actively trying at any point as you might not ovulate when you think you will! Smile

That's fantastic @CuriousC32 I'm so happy for your good news.
Thanks for the good advice. Still waiting for AF but I did notice a change in my cervical mucus (tmi I know) last week so I'm wondering if I ovulated? That would mean AF is due next week.
Just a wait now to see if I'm right.

Such happy news @CuriousC32. Congratulations

I am playing the waiting game. Period was due on 2/5 but it came approx a week early. I am hoping that it's an implantation bleed. Got to wait until next period is due to see what happens.

Hi Girls,

I'm new to mums net. Recently got married in March and ate are now TTC. I had my last pill (cerelle) at the end of March and haven't had any signs of blood yet at all. Dont know how the ovulation works as I've been on the pill for 10 years. Had symptoms of sore boobs, sore stomach etc but nothing came. Tried a test and is was negative.

Feel as if it's been aged weve been trying but it's not. didnt realise how much I want this until I stopped taking the pill. Just really want this to happen ❤.

I'm also taking folic acid tablets aswell

Really hope it's not much longer but just a waiting game now. X
