Hi all,

New to 'MumsNet' so not too sure on how it all works but I was posting to see if anyone on here has experienced the same symptoms as me.... I have tried looking for posts on 'Cerelle' but all of them are really old....

I recently finished my last pack of pills on the 16th Dec. The following day I had a two day bleed and then stopped for 12 days and had another two day bleed, which I was assuming was the withdrawal bleed? But in the mean time I've become SO spotty, my boobs are agony, I'm always bloated and I keep getting heart palpitations. I have come off the pill because I wanted to give myself a break and let my cycle go back to normal before me and my partner start trying for our first baby.

Bearing in mind I have been on this type of pill for 2 years with NO periods I'm worried they aren't going to come back easily....

Has anyone else experienced these symptoms? How long did it take you to get back to normal?

Thanks in advance 😊💁🏻

Congratulations Haldanegirl.

According to Ovia app I'm potentially ovulating and we have begun our TTC
journey.

I always knew there is a chance we might have issues because my partner had luekemia treatment when he was 3. But had put it to the back of my mind due to thinking that if it was an issue the doctors would of said something at the time to his mum and she would of told him this if It was the case.

Today however - his mum decided to tell him at 29 years old that yes the doctors at the time did say he may or may not have problems. So now it's flagged up all the worry. It's the not knowing that's the worst. I'm super emotional now as I just feel it's confirmed that it definitely a chance that it could be an issue. It doesn't help that I'm coming off an anti depressant too so little things are setting me off.

The only way we will really know is too book for a test at a private clinic. Have to wait a year on NHS. I can't get it off my mind.

@CuriousC32
I just read your last post and I'm really sorry for your situation. Sad
I guess you just need to decide between the two of you what feels right. I guess it boils down to whether you want to know all the facts or just try and see what happens.
One thing to remember though is how amazing modern medicine is now and all the options that are now available that weren't in the past!
All my fingers are crossed for you! xxx

I got my period yesterday!
I'm feeling quite relieved although so
far it has been particularly painful and crampy! Just to recap.... I took my last Cerelle on the 30th December, had my withdrawal
Bleed on 15th January and now have had my first period 15th February.
Between my withdrawal bleed and period there wasn't a clear cut time I thought I was ovulating.... I'm going to monitor BBT and start doing OpK tests too next month so I can get a better idea of ovulation

@BabyNo2FX
I've been off cerelle since the 28th of December and we weren't really trying but we weren't not trying if that makes sense! It was more of if it happens it happens kinda thing!

Thank you RLI1105. We had a long chat last night and as it's not confirmed and it's a 50:50 chance it's an issue just going to carry on trying during this ovulation. But get tested as soon as possible so we know what we are facing.

It seems as soon as I'm in my ovulating phase everything else has gone wrong. I found myself with the service I run having no staff to work this weekend and I was faced with the potential of 10 hours a day of shifts uncovered and a big crisis in the other service I run. I felt like this was a sign that I wasn't meant to TTC. (Wanted a relaxing weekend) at least next month I'm on annual leave during ovulation time Smile

BabyNo2 I sympathise I know how awful coming off it can make you feel whilst waiting for your period. I am dreading my next period.

Good luck everyone who is trying xx

I have been off of cerelle for two weeks and have had no sign of my period. I took a test today because my boobs have been so sore and i feel constantly tired. It was negative Sad but then im not sure if it was too early to test.

@CuriousC32 fingers and toes are crossed for you!
After a month of being off cerelle my period has finally graced me with its horrible presence! I forgot how much money I spent each month on pads! 😂 @Rebootyourengine I had awful pains in my boobs leading up to my period, but they seem to have died down now. Fingers crossed yours will too soon!

@rebootyourengine I feel your pain! You’re only 2 weeks off so things should settle for you. It’s horrible playing the waiting game though!

@Amster262 and @AllTheGlitter thank you. As much as i hated having periods over the years i can not wait until it comes back.

Me too @rebootyourengine! It’s really getting on my nerves now. it’s 5 weeks today since I came off and without a withdrawal or a period I have no idea where I am! My Ovia app is useless as it has no idea when I’m fertile.

@RebootYourEngine and @AllTheGlitter
Hope the periods come soon.

Thank you everyone for your kind words - partner has booked a doctor appointment to see if they will test him if not we will go private.

In the meantime according to the Ovia app I have been in my 6 fertile days. Only managed to try 3/6 of the days so next month determined to give it our best shot so at least I can feel we have put 100% into trying. (If we haven't had fertility test and results by then)

Just waiting for my next period now, due 5th March hoping and praying it doesn't come early as I've been planning my partners 30th birthday weekend away for months and it's happening 2-4th! Never had to worry about this sort of thing on the pill!

Good luck everyone who is trying. Xx

Hi all, mind if I join?

Came off cerelle on 18th Jan - had a bleed feb 6-11th. Was really heavy and crampy, and a bit of a shock after being on the pill for 15 years!
Now just waiting to see if I settle into a pattern.

Anyone else stupidly horny now you are off the pill?
For as long as I can remember, I have always needed quite a bit of persuasion (thank god DH still loves me!) and this last week all i have wanted to do is jump his bones! LOL! Its taken me (& DH) by surprise!

Welcome @TizzyTess! You came off 2 days after me and were really lucky to have a bleed so quick! I’ve not had anything but spotting in the 5+ weeks I’ve been off!

I was more towards the beginning! Getting a bit fed up of it all now Grin

Thanks @AllTheGlitter :)
I was quite surprised to have a bleed so soon (and so heavy). Although i guess i'll find out in another couple weeks if my cycles are actually back. We decided to come off with the intention of TTC properly from sort of May time, in the hope that by then i'll have some idea of my cycles. Although we haven't exactly been careful this last week so... I guess we are trying but not trying if that makes sense.

I am sure you'll get something soon, from what i have been reading on mn (have been lurking for a little while) it can vary greatly. Try to keep positive chick!

Hopefully they are @tizzytess! I guess I could be pregnant but not know yet but i doubt it as had no bleed yet.. time will tell! It definitely varies from person to person so trying to keep positive! are you taking any prenatal vitamins? Im on pregnacare conception and my DP is on the men’s version so hopefully that will help a bit! We are still young though as I’m 25 and he is 23 so no massive rush! Xx

You could indeed @AllTheGlitter! Give it time and you'll soon find out. Plenty of time, like you say, for everything to settle down and get into a rhythm. Or at least that's what I keep reminding myself :D

Im taking Superdrug own brand pre-conception vits at the moment. Tried a couple of other over the months, but this seems to be the only ones that agree with me at the moment. Am thinking about getting the DH on some soon, hopefully pick some up over the weekend.

Hi everyone,

I came off cerelle in October after being on it 16months and had what appeared like a period 5 weeks later and another 4 weeks after that. However, I’ve had nothing since except sore boobs, being nauseated and cramps for roughly a month! I’ve taken numerous pregnancy tests and they’ve all been negative. Has anyone else had such a long gap after what appears like their period had regulated? I already have a son and fell pregnant whilst on microgynon and would love another baby x

The reviews for the Wellman are astonishing @tizzytess! Loads saying it upped the sperm count so definitely worth trying! We have also noticed a massive difference in my DPs sperm (TMI for some, sorry)! But he’s only been on 2 weeks so not sure of their effectiveness as of yet but can’t hurt!

@kd2487 unfortunately I can’t help as I haven’t had a bleed at all but the symptoms are definitely pointing towards pregnancy so maybe hold on and keep testing!

Thanks for that @AllTheGlitter. Will pick some up over the weekend. Every little helps and all that :)

@AllTheGlitter
I had actually ordered my fiancé some of the wellman tablets literally just before I read your recommendation! It's great that you think it has made a difference!
Going off my first period I'm on cycle day 9 and am using OPK's and temp charting to get an idea of when I ovulate and then we are actively going to TTC from next month. I'm optimistically running off the assumption that my cycles will now be regular which I'm hoping doesn't backfire.... Confused
It's good that there's something men can do even if it is just take a vitamin in comparison to all the messing around we have to do! Wink

Picked some Wellman vits up for the DH yesterday. He isnt majorly impressed as the tablets are huge but he's on board :)

Have been thinking about temping but I work really silly hours which involves getting up at 4.30am some days so don't think I'd have the inclination (be awake enough) to temp properly. But have just bought myself a Fitbit and I've heard that resting heart rate before you wake changes when ovulating so am going to see if that gives me any info to go off next cycle.

It's a whole other world this TTC marlarky :D

Still nothing Sad i have had a few symptoms- cramps, discharge, sore boobs,.

I started folic acid but ended up with quite bad wind.

What is worrying me a little is that i have a child already and it took no time at all to get pregnant with him. I am worried that the pill has done some damage.
