That was meant to say 12 weeks not 22 Confused

dingdongdigeridoo · 12/12/2017 22:58

Let’s try to stay positive. If it’s a BFN over Xmas we can drink prosecco and eat our body weight in smoked salmon.

Plus if you get knocked up in December, you might miss the school admissions cut off and they end up with DC being one of the youngest in the class. My poor DH was born 1st September and was the baby of his class!

SomebodysNotInBedYet · 12/12/2017 23:39

AF is due boxing day for me but I think I'll try to wait, it's only out first cycle ttc so I'm trying to be realistic :)

HellaBella0 · 13/12/2017 08:35

Hi ladies, Just worked out that my test day will be Xmas day too so please can I join you. What are everyone’s plans about drinking over the Xmas period? I will be at my in laws for a few days before and they are big drinkers! 😬

SomebodysNotInBedYet · 13/12/2017 08:55

FIL can be pretty insistent with snowballs so I'll probably have one. I'm not a big drinker anyway and I'll have DD to look after so it shouldn't be too suspicious.

Pinkslink17 · 13/12/2017 09:40

Hi @HellaBella0 I won't see much family over the festive period so I think I'll get away with it, new year will be more an issue for me but I'm just going to ask DH to get me a coke and say it has spirits in it if anyone asks!

Could I please get someone's advice..I feel like I'm getting all the right signs for ovulation apart from positive tests on my OPK! TMI warning- my cervix's is high, open and soft, I have clear CM that stretches between my finger and thumb at least a cm before separating, and my temp has decreased significantly since AF stopped..but my OPK aren't reflecting this? Do I listen to my body or follow the OPK? I don't want to wear my poor hubby out by thinking I'm ovulating now and then realise it was just a build up to ovulation in a few days! None of my apps predict I'd ovulation until at least Friday..It's not letting me attach photos as I'm still a new user!

Merrz · 13/12/2017 09:59

HellaBella Hello over here too lol.
I'm a bit worried about the drink situation too. I've already got xmas sussed, we have 4 days in a row of being with different people which will all be drinking, so could use the excuses that either i had too much the day before and can't face it or i'm saving myself for the next day. I'm going to be at my mums on actual xmas day so think if i nominate myself to be in charge of making sure everyone always has a drink then i can just pretend i'm drinking by pouring my own drinks.
But we're going away for a few days over New Year with a big group of friends and i have no idea how i'll get away with not drinking but i really don't want anyone to know if i do get a bfp. It's probably not going to happen anyway so will cross that bridge if i have too i guess Confused

Merrz · 13/12/2017 10:04

Pinkslink17 I would keep dtd if you can, trust your body! What cd are you and how long are your cycles? Maybe you could even go down to dtd every other day then you'll hopefully manage to keep it up for a bit longer? Know what you mean though, last few cycles we've dtd lots from around cd 10 but have only ow realised i don't ov until about day 16/17 so was by then we were struggling to dtd enough.

Pinkslink17 · 13/12/2017 10:19

@Merrz it's really frustrating isn't it! I'm CD 11 and my average is 27 days for cycles, last was 29 days but one before was 24! My pill regulated them at 27 and only came off in October, I think I'll do just that. I was trying the SMEP this month but you can't really do it if you don't know when you ovulate! OPK were just cheapies from amazon but even so I'd of thought they may have darkened..maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. FF has me down to ovulate on Friday, Flo has me down for Saturday and Ovia has me next Tuesday! Never temped or used OPK before this month though so they're just generic I think..it's anyone's guess! Hoping to ovulate by 15th so I can try and squeeze in a test on Xmas day!

Merrz · 13/12/2017 10:23

Good luck Pinkslink I have 29 day cycles and ovulate around day 16/17 so i guess in theory you could have almost another week! If you dtd at least every other day you should be pretty well covered though

MrsBee5817 · 13/12/2017 12:12

@Merrz @Pinkslink17 @HellaBella0 @SomebodysNotInBedYet
Hey ladies.
I'm gonna do the test on Christmas Eve and if it's negative then I probably will a drink over the period.
I'm not gonna drink until then though.
It's hard.

I'm the same with ovulating my apps are all over the place and not the same so I'm unsure to ovulation as well.
I'm just winging it and hoping for the best.

It's a tricky situation.

Hope all well.

That's my plan too MrsBee5817 hold off the drink until 23rd, test then and if it's negative i'll drink

Pinkslink17 · 13/12/2017 12:55

Thanks @Merrz I think I just need to chill out a bit, just so worried about missing it! Will continue to dtd every other day until I know I'm well into my tww and see what happens.. I'm excited to come on in a fortnight and see how many BFPs there are! Love checking the threads in the morning and seeing positive tests!

HellaBella0 · 13/12/2017 13:15

Me too @Pinkslink17 it’s become part of my new morning ritual on the train 😂 Love seeing BFPs!!

MynameisJune · 13/12/2017 13:27

I’ve got a works Christmas do this weekend and i’ll be drinking, going to try and order virgin cocktails as much as possible. To be honest after a year of TTC I’ve decided I need to enjoy the life I’ve got right now rather than the one I don’t have.

Kkk87 · 13/12/2017 13:29

My Christmas party too this weekend, I'm in my 2ww (only 1dpo today) there's been months when I've not drank at all but I feel I need to enjoy myself too. No point putting my life on hold "just incase"

Pinkslink17 · 13/12/2017 13:37

@HellaBella0 I'm a nightmare, I'm worse at night because I can't get to sleep that easily anymore so I just scroll for hours!

I agree with you both not putting your life on hold for the 'what if'. Fortunately I had my Christmas party last weekend just after AF so I was able to drink and I'm not in an environment to drink again until new year. I should know by then if I've had a BFP, enjoy life whilst you can. One night so close to ovulating can't do much harm surely?!

Notmissmoneypenny · 13/12/2017 13:40

Drinking will be my downfall too. I had a MC last year and had to go on a pub crawl with my friends. I think I managed to hide it by pretending to drink alcohol, so lemonade instead of vodka lemonade type thing. I also had a hideous cold so used that as an excuse not to drink at the start of the night when everyone was still sober and said I would have a drink when I felt a bit better. I even got the t-shirt at the end of the pub crawl. Nobody has ever said anything but my poor friend who has recently stopped drinking because she’s ttc has had an absolute barrage of questions so I think pretending to drink is the better option.

CRZ1988 · 13/12/2017 13:50

Hello ladies!

I hope you don't mind my joining, I'm due to test on NYE and will have all digits crossed in the build up. According to Ovia my most fertile day is Sunday, we (I) am using the SMEP, DH wouldn't know what plan we're on if I asked him!

Baby dust to all you lovelies xxx

Pinkslink17 · 13/12/2017 14:11

@CRZ1988 welcome, best of luck! I have similar dates, app has my AF starting between Boxing Day and 30th. Hopeful for lots of Christmas and new year babies!

Kkk87 · 13/12/2017 14:20

I wouldn't of thought it could do much harm.. when you think of all those people who have drank excessively not known they were pregnant. Obviously I'll drink less than I normally would tho

MynameisJune · 13/12/2017 14:24

There have been studies that alcohol can affect the luteal phase, generally making it shorter rather which could in turn effect implantation. I think this might be more for long term alcohol consumption rather than one off.

ConfusionIsNothingNew · 13/12/2017 16:57

I'm going to be drinking this Saturday night (cd 18) and then not again until I get bfp/period.

Tbf before I knew I was pregnant with my DS, I had a week in hospital with loads of antibiotics, painkillers and dear knows what else, and then my gallbladder out! I told a midwife I knew and she said not to worry, that embryos were hardy wee things!

MrsBee5817 · 13/12/2017 17:37

Welcome @CRZ1988

I didn't think my post would get so much attention but I'm glad it has!

Nice to talk to people in a similar position!!

I think TTCing would be bloody awful if you couldn't drink at all during the 2WW. It's a grim enough time as it is.

I don't get excessively pissed, but I have a couple in the 2WW. Then I inevitably get my period and can commence drowning my sorrows!
