Here are our Fucked Off TTC Commandments

• Thou shall not arrive one day and post BFP next day
• Thou shall not give advice to other when TTC for one month only
• Thou shall not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
• Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
• Thou shall not be offended by strong language
• Thou shall not tell everyone to eat yams
• Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

Apologies for joining the thread and then going AWOL, I've been trying to put TTC to the back of my mind because it was taking over and making my anxiety and depression flare up.

I have my HSG tomorrow and am totally shitting myself...I'm scared of the pain and terrified of the results 😕

Has anyone had one?

Hey polkadot I had one about 3 months ago. Not too painful, just like bad menstrual cramps for a couple of seconds. It might be more painful if there are any blockages (none found for me) as it means the dye can't flow out.

Like most of these things, the worst aspect is the lack of dignity, lying on a paper sheet being poked out! But the medical staff were lovely and did their best to put me at ease.

I did read some anecdotal evidence that fertility can be improved after an HSG as it can clear out any small blockages/ scar tissue, but it didn't work for me or hasn't so far... so I think the worse aspect has been that it got my hopes up for a couple of months & I've been finding hope difficult to deal with at the moment as I just crash down harder when AF arrives.

Ok ladies some advice please, not sure what to do! Af is late but poas Saturday and negative (so proceeded to consume my body weight in cheese as wine Saturday evening obviously) but still no sign of af after cramping last Thursday. I’m normally a regular 27/28 day cycle and I’m only on day 30 but have my US booked in for Wednesday morning. My app tells me to poas again but what’s the point of that as I already have done- surely that is false hope?

Lexie HCG levels can fluctuate quite a bit so no harm in doing another one if you are 2 days late!

Hello to the newbies :)

Got my fertility clinic appointment tomorrow. Just got the letter telling us where we need to go etc. Also got to have. 3D ultrasound up my vag so that’s nice. Are vaginal ultrasounds always 3D? I’ve had one before but thought it was one of the normal scans (the fuzzy black and white ones you get with an abdominal US) either way, can’t waut to be probed. Hope you’re all doing well. It’s nearly Christmas!!!

I've never had a 3D transvaginal scan @Bubblegum89 and good knows I've had enough of them recently. Maybe they're doing it because of your history, I'd imagine that scarring would be easier to see on a 3D scan.

Does anyone know if you can have a gap between ovulation and AF longer than 14 days? If my cycle sticks at 35 days again, I'm due on the 3rd Jan. Which means ov some time around 21st? But I had weird crampy twinges last week in the mittleschmirtz? kind of way so maybe I missed the boat? I don't temp/OPK as I'm trying to not obsess (although obviously still am
obsessing )

wonky my AF is due 3rd Jan and I’m sure I ovulated yesterday. However; I’ve got another app that says I’m due on 31st, so that’s 14ish days from yesterday (I think).

bubble good luck for tomorrow. Do you think they’ll show you a pic of the 3D scan?

Hey guys I saw actual yams in the Chinese supermarket on Sunday and almost took a photo to show you all! They are like super long potatoes with dots on??

@wonky your luteal phase can be longer or shorter than 14 days. Mine are usually only about 10 or 11 (or 6 days when my body feels like it) I take Angus Castus to regulate my luteal phase. So now it’s generally 14 days.

@lexie so sorry for the negative tests, sometimes it really does seem like our bodies are against us. Random long cycles always seem to happen at the worst time (not that there is a good time, except maybe when on holiday!)

Thanks ladies, I did think a 3D US might not be the norm. The letter says that I’ll just be seeing a nurse who will take out medical history and tell us what tests we need and start to arrange them. I’m still super anxious though :/

Ah LexieJean - had a heartsink moment on your behalf. Shake it off and do something nice for yourself
MyNameIsJune I was recommended Agnes Castus by a friend, but was scared off by info on internet about taking after OV and I don't know for sure when that is

Been lurking but trying not to think too much - af was an absolute smack in the face this cycle and I was so bloody miserable. FW over, ovulation Sunday I think. We dtd loads but I have no interest really in symptom spotting this time. I am going to eat, drink and be merry, coz I am not ruining Christmas with barren karen moodiness. Especially as I now have like one more cycle to get a bfp or have #2 at 41 and I just don't think it will happen.

@Bubblegum89 Wow 3D! I had a 2D TV US this morning. I'd got myself really worked up about it but it wasn't any worse than a smear test. Hope yours went smoothly.

I am so sorry, I joined this lovely thread, posted once then buggered off 🙈tbh I was getting so wound up by the whole stupid ttc thing that I was trying to avoid anything to do with it online so as to try to reduce the angst....

Congrats on the bfp @Grumpy! @bubblegum89 I hope the appointment went well. Was that the one to check tubes, or a pelvic scan?

I am in tww territory, about 2dpo I think. I posted a thread a while ago about whether it is possible to get a fertility clinic referral without DH SA results (mostly cos he’s not been for one yet...), anyway I was very surprised the other day to get an appointment letter through the post for the end of Jan. so now DH really has to get his skates on and ideally get his SA booked in and done in time for my appointment although I don’t even know if that will work given he hasn’t rung to make his SA appointment yet. He is so reluctant to go and hates me nagging about it but it’s got to happen. He did go for some blood test this morning but I’m not sure what exactly they were testing for, I don’t know what the male blood tests look for? Urgh
