Hi guys, been reading loads of threads over the past few days. I am now 2dpo on my first cycle of ttc #1. I've created this thread to see if anyone had any success In conceiving in the first month or so. Really trying not to be crazy or obsessive but this is all new to me! I came off the pill last month so I know there's an unlikely chance of getting pregnant due to hormones. But if anyone has any comments, feel free to share!
Flowers Good luck to everyone xx

I became pregnant 1 month after coming off the pill. The same pill I had taken for 13 years and never had an accident! It is totally possible! X

Gem173 · 16/10/2017 16:46

@Lauren112233 I hope so! Glad to hear it worked for you!

I conceived within a week of the Mirena coil being removed. Totally shocked. 7 weeks today and hoping it's a sticker.

Amd724 · 16/10/2017 16:47

I came off the implant last October, but we used condoms until January. First month of no condoms or implant, we conceived. I’m 37 weeks, should have my induction next Thursday.

Lauren112233 · 16/10/2017 16:56

It did! My baby girl is 9 weeks old tomorrow. We were very lucky x

PhoenixDown · 16/10/2017 18:41

Yes this one, I was in total shock. Had coil (copper) removed CD 14 and conceived around CD 22. I'm now 8 weeks. My previous 2 pregnancies took 6-8 months so was not expecting it at all.

I fell pregnant after 1 split condom and it managed to survive the morning after pill too, I didn’t keep the pregnancy but it was pretty quick for us. We’ve just started trying this weekend so we will see how quick it is this time, I was 22 the first time

cupofchai · 16/10/2017 22:33

Yes both babies in first month.

No special trying just when I was mid cycle we had sex twice over 3 days. So the 12th and 14th day - and we caught straight away

60sname · 16/10/2017 22:41

We conceived DS in the first cycle ttc and just today I got a BFP again first cycle (obviously no way of knowing if it'll stick)

Gem173 · 17/10/2017 05:37

@60sname Congratulations!!

Yep. Had implant removed CD1 and conceived CD16 with DC1.

DC2 also conceived first month of not using condoms.

BikeRunSki · 17/10/2017 06:20

Both my children conceived first cycle, and I was ancient (37, 40). I hadn’t been on hormonal contraception though.

BertieBotts · 17/10/2017 06:25

You have a 20% chance every month, so don't be too disappointed if it doesn't work out. The median amount of time is about 3 or 4 months, the vast majority of people conceive within 8 months.

BertieBotts · 17/10/2017 06:26

I think it's a myth that coming off the pill makes it harder btw - I haven't found any studies which support this.

mummabubs · 17/10/2017 06:33

I did! I was 28 years old and had been on the pill for 3 years non-stop before. Read loads of things that said allow a year as this is considered completely normal and about how coming off contraception it can take a few months for your body to get back into regular cycles... turns out as I know now whilst this is true for some people others actually have a boost in fertility as soon as they come off contraception. We were both very happy to get a BFP so quickly, albeit a bit surprised too!

Good luck OP! X

Me. With DC1 I was 31, first month lucky. With DC2 I was 34, first month lucky.

I say lucky because I don't take it for granted, nor do I think I knew anymore than anyone else. However, I had been off the pill for about 8 years and not on any other kind of hormone contraception, I was able to recognise cycle changes in my body very easily and therefore identifying the right time to try wasn't an issue for me. Take the time to try to do this if you can, I was also a very healthy weight and extremely fit and took folic acid for 3m before TTC. Not saying these things make a difference for all but that was my starting point.

Good luck to all those trying.

Sarahh2014 · 17/10/2017 08:14

1st month after coming off pill at 32

QueenAmongstMen · 17/10/2017 08:27

I fell pregnant on the first cycle twice, each time was within two weeks of having my Mirena Coil removed. The first occasion became a successful pregnancy but on the second occasion I miscarried at about 7 weeks.

Following the miscarriage we started TTC again about 3 months later and then it took 10 cycles to conceive.

Gem173 · 17/10/2017 11:00

Just want to update everyone, went to work today but had massive pain in my lower right side of my body. Felt sick and dizzy. Told work and got sent home. When I got home about 10am I threw up, wasn't much but was odd. I'm only 4dpo, so not expecting pregnancy but am really worried that I have a UTI which could have progressed into something more ConfusedEnvySad

My mum did with me as well she was off the pill for less than a month when she found out she was pregnant!

Blueberrysandgrapes76 · 17/10/2017 13:25

I guess just be careful it’s not an ectopic pregnancy Sad

edinbeezer · 17/10/2017 13:31

Newbie here and first post! I am TTC my first. Came off microgynon on 20th August (had been on it for 17 years) and had the withdrawal bleed but absolutely nothing since then. Have taken 3 tests but all negative. No sign of AF making an appearance. Not worried or anything (yet!) but just wondering if many of you have been in the same position?

Gem173 · 17/10/2017 13:36

@Blueberrysandgrapes76 how long after ovulation can you find out if it's ectopic? I haven't even taken a pregnancy test because I'm only 4dpo. Not sure if I sure just in case. Oh my body is such a pain in the arse!

Yep. 4 kids all conceived on the first try. Well, number 4 was actively trying not to conceive so I don't know what you'd call that.
