Well, have to get a little more work in before the end of the day. Will let you know if anything materialises!! See you all tomorrow

meto · 09/05/2007 16:53

I choose not to work, DH is of the view it's his job to work and support us both and for me to stop with the children. so that's how we do it. (least have done till now) i'll get a little something when the youngest is at nursery/infants etc.

well BFN from me

hi anniemac the 2ww is agonising isn't it? fingers crossed for you

soph - I know what you mean part time would be great with no childcare costs of course, I think we have been spoiled with all the good weather getting out and about now it's turned cold again we don't know what to do with ourselves

meto - sorry about your BFN, fingers crossed for you for next month too

I'm going back to college hopefully to do a post grad in teaching when DD2 goes to school as before then I would only be working to pay nursery fees so it's not worth it, so only another 3 years to go plenty of time to squeeze in another baby

meto · 09/05/2007 17:41

tbh annie - I do miss the extra cash and also the adult ness if you like esp the conversation, but when you look at the wages PT for me (i'm determined not to go back to what I was doing pre DS as it was stressful, and tbh I don't want that hassle as well) and take out tax, child care loss of credits etc. i'd be worse off/earning under £40 p/w which for me isn't worth the time away from DS iycwim however, ask me again when he hits his terrible 2's and I might well change that view . me stopping work thou had effectivly halved our income (DH had a good raise thou so we're down about £300 now) so it's meant a lot of cut backs but we do OK.

McDreamy · 09/05/2007 18:32

Hello all!

No not scottish sweetkitty - a massive Grays Anatomy fan!

I already have a DD (4 years) and a 22month old DS!

Not has sex yet so def not pregnant!

scorpio1 · 09/05/2007 18:33

in our house, its just dp who works. i have never had a job, but then i had ds1 at 17 (pg in last month of school) and ds2 at 19, and am now 22.i have been studying for the last 2 years though, so thats sort of a job! (shut up tigerschick with your student lazy things ) dp is a carpenter. after this baby i intend to finish my degree(2 years of that after baby) (having a year out for this baba) and get a part time job (when baby 2.5) until baby goes to school-when i will work full time. its always been my ambition to work as well as be a mum.i enjoy the adult company at uni, and am a better mummy for having a bit of me time.i also feel that it is a waste of me staying at home iyswim??although i will have done them all as babies and will be very pleased of what i have done.i think something like this is different for everyone

CD20 here today, and am doing the dreaded symptom spotting even though if there is a baby it prob hasnt implanted yet!7 dpo tomorrow, on the home stretch

tigerschick · 09/05/2007 19:11

We are in the lucky position that dh's wages are enough to live on. I was only working PT before having dd - had been FT but fortunately going PT and finding out I was pg coincided nicely But it meant that we didn't see a big drop in wages when dd was born. In fact, SMP was more than I'd been getting some weeks!

I think it's all a matter of choice. I know people who would rather walk on hot coals than be a working mum and I know people who would go stark raving mad being a SAHM. I think you have to do what suits you.

Scorpio - when do you start back after your 'summer' holidayssssss?
(you know I don't mean it - life was busy enough as a student without 2dcs to worry about, don't envy you one iota)

bobbydazzler · 09/05/2007 19:16

Hi to all,

Feeling v.

Was CD 25 today but AF just arrived as leaving work, so as said earlier on this thread it is off to the Docs for me to ask for blood tests.

Next month will be month 12 of TTC which for me is a big mile stone if don't fall next month .

Wheely and Mrs Mcj thanks for your advice re the access diagnostics website and good luck to you both as I believe AF has so far stayed away.

Mrs Mcj btw I am a lawyer to, do you like your job?

Good luck to everyone else who is still in with a shout for this month.

The annoying thing is I was quite laid back about everything this month and wasn't really thinking about whether I was or wasn't as I was back home with my folks having a nice time over the BH and was really busy when returned to work today, oh well, onwards and upwards and all that.

Best go and tend to the gorgeous wee one I have instead of lurking upstairs feeling sorry for what I don't have.

Have been feeling really upset as well about that little girl who has gone missing in Portugal, can't believe some people think it is ok to criticise the parents at a time like this

plummymummy · 09/05/2007 20:00

I agree with you bobbydazzler. My mum said she didn't agree with the parents being 50 yards away and I said that it would've been the same distance if we were sat at the bottom of her garden, yet we wouldn't think twice about leaving ds upstairs in the house. People need to have a more supportive attitude toward parents in their awful situation - it's fine if you don't ever leave your child alone, but it doesn't help to judge others especially when they are probably consumed with guilt anyway.

wheelybug · 09/05/2007 21:08

Sorry to hear AF has arrived Bobby and thanks for your good wishes ! Am fairly sure AF is on its way though, although I am on CD29 today, I OV late so am only 14 DPO tomorrow so i reckon tomorrow or friday. Good luck everyone else waiting (Meto and MrsMc)

I am at the doctors on Friday to get a few tests results (basic blood tests and scan) - was hoping I could dance in and throw a BFP in the doctors face but I think not. Next month will be the 12th month since we started ttc (I conceived cycle 1 and then m/c so we haven't actually had 12 cycles of ttc IYSWIM) so know how you feel.

Strange about your odd AF soph.

Hello everyone else and good luck everyone !

Hey ladies was away on business today

Pobletsmum sorry for putting you a day behind! Thanks for the compliment

Hey Feedmenow, how are you generally? Hope you get some closure on the OV front soon and good luck for this cycle!

Sweetkitty ? I agree, there has to be a magic ingredient that we don?t know about, that said, the only cycle DH and I managed to BD everyday in my fertile time, we did get a BFP so it was a numbers game for us that cycle I?m Scottish (funnily enough!) are you? I?m with Plummymummy, I would love to not be at work full time but I guess the grass is always greener. We need all the money we can both earn at the mo so it?s just not an option for us but that?s because of our own choices to date and not because the choice was never there if that makes sense! I?m TTC our first (well, second )

Thanks PlummyMummy hope you feel much better soon.

Wheely, please don?t fret hon; I really hope we get our BFPs together. I feel sick again tonight (as I did last night) Really hope its HCG not adrenaline!

You too Meto ? hang in there!

Boobylicious ? are you Tia then? I love that name ? could be OV pains? Though early.

Scorpio ? no wonder you feel chilled, sounds like you gave it a great go this cycle what?s the assignment about?

Sounding interesting Soph73 ? keep us posted! Sorry it was BFN this time but keep checking every couple of days By the way, I grew up in Southern Spain and DH and I are planning to move there end of year/beginning of next Are the horror stories of Spanish births true? I?m desperate to have my first before we go just in case! My Mum said the same about the weather, Summer has arrived!

Hello Tigerschick

Fingers crossed Anniemac

McDreamy ? sometimes I try to convince myself I am pg even without the sex!

Bobbydazzler ? I knew I?d met you before somewhere ? must have been on the lawyers thread about career v baby and when?s the best time (million pound question). So sorry about AF hon I hope the blood tests or the fact of seeking help makes a difference. I do like my job I am a banking lawyer and most of the time; I deal with really nice people, how about you? It is awful about Maddy I think it has come to as a real shock to the Portuguese police, these sorts of things do seem to happen less on the continent than here, I wonder why that is?

mumto3girls · 09/05/2007 21:58

MrsMcJnr...do you rememeber me?

I got a BFP yesterday!! haven't even had AF since mc....just had a feeling that took me down the chemists...and the fattest quickest line ever came straight up!!

Hope you're doing okay?

McDreamy · 10/05/2007 07:11

congrats mumof3girls

McDreamy · 10/05/2007 07:12

sorry mumto3girls - it would help if I spelt your name correctly

lissielou · 10/05/2007 07:40

hi all, well ahvew had the oddest period (was like the bleeding i had during my ep) twas bright red for 3d then stopped! then started bright red again! cue panic and frantic testing bfn of course but cant have my hsg til next month so am unsure about whether to ttc again this month or wait til we've had the rest of our tests done.

lissielou · 10/05/2007 07:41

congrats mumto3girls!

plummymummy · 10/05/2007 08:23

Congrats mumto3girls

plummymummy · 10/05/2007 08:26

I looked on that ask dr amy site and according to that I can test tomorrow as my period is due on 15th but I can test 4 days early with a sensitive test. Ooh, so excited (how sad is that) I cannot go one cycle without testing early. I feel it has become an addiction

wheelybug · 10/05/2007 08:32

Be strong PlummyMummy - step away from the test... remember the stats (I can't actually but I know that there's only a tiny chance of a positive 10 DPO). Currently CD30 and have not tested ... polishes halo.... am only 14 DPO though. Fully expecting AF to turn up today or tomorrow (because she's like that). Will of course keep you poste.d

Congrats Mumto3girls !

snowgirl · 10/05/2007 09:31

Hi
Can I join in and is this the right place???
been ttc since December and today is cd1. Am v and worried that it won't happen. Have 1 dd who is 2 and am 36. Should I be seeking help? A what point should I go to the docs? Been all positive every month till now, but really felt this was the month, and it wasn't.

plummymummy · 10/05/2007 09:32

Oh I know Wheely but it is so hard to resist. Of course you are right, but I will probably do it anyway then post tomorrow saying it's a bfn because of course it will be. I've got those ultra sensitive tests but I don't know if they would pick up a positive 4 days early. Is your cycle 28 days? Mine has reduced to 24 so I am only on CD20 tomorrow.

plummymummy · 10/05/2007 09:41

Welcome snowgirl. I am 35 and have a ds nearly 3yrs. Been ttc since october last year but had a miscarriage in December so trying again since february. Did you conceive your child straight away before? I did and I know I sort of expected it to happen like that again. Doctors don't generally investigate until you've been trying for a year - which seems like an eternity when you're trying each month. I understand your frustration. Have you checked out any of the conception aids used by some of the ladies here eg grapefruit juice and pre-seed. I don't know if they work, but some ladies swear by it. Good luck and if you stay on the thread you will get support from women in the same position as you.

wheelybug · 10/05/2007 09:47

lummymummy - I know about the temptation. I actually don't have any tests in the house otherwise would be pee-ing on them this morning. Also turn into an embarrassed schoolgirl in a chemist so put off buying them (and i know if I order online AF will be here before they are !). have thought about putting them in my online shop but would be mortified if they didn't have them and the poor chap had to explain.

My cycle is rarely 28 days and has been up to about 35 since m/c last july. Am fairly sure I ov'd 14 days ago though and AF tends to turn up around 14DPO (although actually it may have been longer last month).

Hi Snowgirl - welcome ! Although you may want to be on a june thread if there is one yet as (if I've got it right) its when you are likely to test which defines the month ! BUt you're welcome to stay here too. Sorry to hear its CD1 - there's been a few here recently and as you may have guessed I'm thinking I'll be there soon too. I think its natural to worry it won't happen. How old are you ? Did you have any problems conceiving dd ? I think going to the doctors depends on a lot of things. Usually they don't do anything unless you have been trying a while (less time if over 35) but I have just had some basic tests done as although I am only 31 (although 32 is closing in on me quickly ) I conceived very easily with dd (2.3) and a second pg which ended in m/c last July. we have been trying since then but with no success so in these circumstances they have done basic hormone tests. However, the doctor did say if these are clear I would have to wait till I have bene trying 18 MONTHS before they would refer me further. Hope that helps.
