Jumping on the crazy train for the first time... ALL ABOARD FOR THE 2WW!

Firstly I must apologise to all you mumsnetters... I've been a lurker for a while and have never understood the craziness surrounding the 2WW until today! Have literally just ovulated yesterday on our first round of TTC and I've already been symptom spotting/furiously checking and rechecking my calendar and Ovia app like a pro!

Logically I know that there is literally no chance of any symptoms yet and DEFINITELY no need to POAS for the next 10 days at least, but there's another (much louder it seems) part of me that keeps thinking that the reason I'm so bloated/gassy (seriously what is up with that?!) or keep dropping my keys/knocking everything over or these cramps are obviously due to the fact I must be pregnant 🤦🏻‍♀️.

So to stop me going completely around the bend, I thought I'd ask if anyone is due to POAS around the 21st of July? If so, do you want to wait with me? All those who have done this before, feel free to leave me tips on how not to think about this 24/7!

Do cramps mean AF? I'm confused. Cramps BUT nauseous??!

IfeelFloopy · 20/07/2017 21:37

Haha hellsbells I know what you mean with never noticing pms as much as when you are TTC! The first month we only DTD one time (a bit too late for it to be possible) and I was sure that I was feeling things I hadn't felt before!

HolyShmoly · 20/07/2017 21:55

I'm with you. I feel so ultra-aware of everything going on in my body and I'm questioning everything. It's really not helpful though.
I'm around 8dpo so I don't know if it's really realistic to be experiencing many symptoms yet. Even if I did conceive it probably hasn't implanted yet.
I told DH last night that I didn't think I was preggo and he wants to use one of the boots sperm tests. I think this is a bit premature, this is our first month trying and we don't even know for sure that it hasn't taken yet. The reviews also look very mixed.
Currently having pains in my stomach but I'm pretty sure that's more to do with wolfing down my dinner!
WTF do implantation pains even feel like?

LMX0 · 20/07/2017 22:28

Why isn't it just simpler one pain for AF another for implantation and another for your preggers!! A lot of people don't get any signs/symptoms of implantation.

Also how did all you lovely ladies find out when you were ovulating? Did you do tests? How often? Any advice would be great 😊

HolyShmoly · 20/07/2017 22:46

I started paying a bit more attention to pains and extra cervical mucus during the months after I got my implant out.
Then I installed Clue and it predicted a date which pretty much matched with what I thought for previous months. This month the date it predicted and the date that I think I ovulated was about a day out. Although I've agreed with myself that if it hasn't happened this month or next, then I'll use OPK in September for a more accurate prediction.

LMX0 · 20/07/2017 23:24

Is clue good? I might give it a go sorry but what does OPK mean?

WaitingTillJuly17 · 20/07/2017 23:32

Oh sorry to hear that Flame fingers crossed for next month.

HolyShmoly I know exactly what you mean, I'm pretty sure I had symptoms from the off if that's even possible - tiredness, change in CM, dizzy spells and waves of nausea but maybe it was just my mind playing tricks! Today I've been worried as I've been relatively symptom free except for sleeping all afternoon 😴😴😴 and a feeling like my heart is racing. It never ends!

LMXO I used internet cheapy ovulation tests to start tracking my cycle and recorded symptoms on Ovia a couple of months before we started trying but this month (our first TTC) I used Clearblue dual which I found very helpful and much easier that the IC as I wasn't trying to work out if the line was dark enough!

Brillant thank you waiting!! Hope your keeping well!!

Sictransitgloria · 20/07/2017 23:57

Out of interest, any signs or symptoms of ov without using an OPK? I'm CD18 and have had masses of EWCM today (soz, tmi) - reckon thats me ov?

I'm trying not to put too much pressure on myself but it's so hard isn't it?! My DP is totally on board but completely unaware of my crazy 😂

LMX0 · 21/07/2017 09:59

I am the same atm i looking out for any wee sign lol

Hellsbells35 · 21/07/2017 14:10

@LMX0 I used opk from around atleast 10 days before I'm due to ovulate. I have long cycles and use an app to predict but ovulation is basically 14 days before next period is due. I then test daily until I get pink strip making sure I BD at least once every 2-3 days. Moving to everyday as pink strip gets brighter. Hope that helps!

LMX0 · 21/07/2017 18:34

Thank you hellsbells i am currently doing one everyday still waiting for the second pink line but doing BD regular to increase our chances

LMX0 · 21/07/2017 18:35

Hellsbells - hows things your end?

HolyShmoly · 21/07/2017 21:33

Waiting have you gone to see the doc yet? Will they do another test and then tell you where to go from there?

WaitingTillJuly17 · 22/07/2017 07:27

No, I didn't want to call until next week. AF due today and no sign as yet 🤞. Not quite sure what the process is in my area as some places you see the GP but others you book straight in with the midwife. I didn't think they retested you as pregnancy tests are so accurate now. When will you be testing HolyShmoly any more signs?

OP posts:
HolyShmoly · 22/07/2017 10:46

No signs. I'm due AF on Wednesday, and DH will be away with work Wednesday night, so nothing comes by Friday morning I'll test then. I'm pretty much working on my own on Wednesday and Thursday so I'm already planning on having a couple beers and a chippie dinner when I get it!
FX for you that nothing happens today.

CuppaTea86 · 22/07/2017 15:30

Congrats bumpkin and waiting, v pleased for you!
So, I put down the preg tests this week and AF got me today, not a big surprise. I have dairy milk and my fluffy cat on my lap to dull my disappointment. DH admits to feeling the same, so I only hope we catch soon!
Baby dust to the rest of us trying. CD1 and it starts again....

WaitingTillJuly17 · 22/07/2017 17:31

Sorry about that Cuppa enjoy your chocolate and cuddles. How long have you been ttc?

HolyShmoly · 23/07/2017 20:09

I'm suffering with what seems to be one of the worst hangovers of my life. I wonder if it's a sign... Hmm Grin
No change in my resting heart rate over the last few days or any other symptoms, unfortunately.

LovePinaColada · 23/07/2017 20:14

Good luck @Justwaiting - keep us updated if you test!
