Hi,

This is all very new to me so would like to make some TTC buddies :)

Let me tell you a little about myself:
Been with my SO for 2 years now and we're getting married in 31 days! I'm 26 (nearly 27) and my hubby2b is 35. We bought a house last year and feel like now is a good time to start a family!

This is my first cycle and I'm really excited but trying not to get my hopes up as seen that it's harder than it looks.

Any advice would be appreciated :) xxx

Thanks missy Smile

charchar it only took us 8 cycles/months so we were very lucky. Of course it's very early days but gotta stay positive.

mrsweyms · 01/07/2017 19:47

I'm 34 and it's our first time ttc. I came off bc in may and have had two cycles since. I think I've been ovulating this week and we've been dtd a lot and then I've been lying with my legs in air to help.

How soon will we know? I've been trying to google etc but getting so confused with everything!

Charchar23 · 02/07/2017 01:44

Ohhh that's good @GWeatherwax !!
I'm hoping I fall pregnant quickly!! Although!! On October 12th it'll be a year since my mum passed away snd there have been no births or pregnancies since her death! And then also 3 years and a month exactly before my mum passing, I lost my dad. My eldest sister concieved Her little boy not long after he passed away! They usually say where one leaves, it's to make room for another!! So maybe October will be the month! Fingers crossed!

And @mrsweyms, welcome to the TTC bandwagon hehe!!
Unfortunately lying with your legs in the air doesn't actually serve no benefit to you falling pregnant. So don't worry about doing that, as @GWeatherwax has said, it's taken her about 8 months to conceive, if you feel at any point AF is late, take a test. Don't be tempted to test all the time and don't obsess over it too much! Your best of DTD every few days throughout the month, rather than just focusing on an app to track ovulation.
By DTD on a regular basis, it means you'll be more likely to increase your chances of hitting the right day, especially if your not 100% sure what day you ovulate!
But welcome welcome welcome Grin

coastalchick · 02/07/2017 11:19

great news Gweatherwax! So exciting!!!! x

Magpie24 · 02/07/2017 16:32

@GWeatherwax congrats! Lots of BFPs on this thread!

Florence16 · 02/07/2017 16:57

Tentatively barging in on this well established thread...Have been quietly reading this board for a little while but DH and I have decided to jump in and get cracking now. Exciting seeing some BFPs on here already, congrats! Flowers

I am 25 and DH is 28. We're moving into our dream home next week after having had a starter upper which has served us well and allowed us to upsize sooner than planned. Work wise I have been struggling with when is the right time. In the last six months I've gotten my first post grad scheme job and am fully qualified in my field now. I don't think there will be an easy window for me to progress in the next 6-12 months so we've just decided sod it, lets go for it now! Have only just come off the pill, so this is cycle #1. Who knows if or when I may ovulate, I daresay we might take a break if it takes some time and work changes, feels so hard to know when to just dive in and go for it.

HolyShmoly · 02/07/2017 17:52

Ah, we're officially ttc! I've been using Clue to start tracking my cycles and it looks like my fertile time is next week, but it'll be good to get some practice in. Grin
I've convinced myself that there's no chance of anything happening till at least September, so we're just going to keep having fun in the meantime and then start looking at taking it a bit seriously at that stage.

FrowningFlamingo · 02/07/2017 18:01

Oh, congratulations GWestherwax! Great news!
AF due 11th ish of this month. Don't feel even a tiny bit like this will be our month but we'll see! We will be trying next month then having a couple of months off because of work stuff. I'm still having a bit of a wobble - have stopped initiating DTD as much but still were active over main fertile window and every few days after that, just not every other day this time. I'm mostly worried about work and finances. I think I need to forget about it and stop worrying- I know the advice I'd give any of my friends in this position but can't seem to follow it!!!

mrsweyms · 02/07/2017 19:48

Congrats all. Sorry to be a 'newbie' but what does BFP mean?

I think we are going to try and be relaxed about it but I may be stressing in a couple of months to you all Wink

NotAMammy · 02/07/2017 20:02

BFP is Big Fat Positive mrsweyms so a positive pregnancy test. Not to be confused with PFB which is precious first born (leads for very confusing threads when you get them mixed up!)
A lot of the other acronyms are gobbledygook to me though. I think the other most used one on here is OPK which I think is ovulation predictor kit (took me ages to work this one out)

teaandshortbread · 02/07/2017 20:48

Going to stop lurking and say Hi Smile
I'm 27 and first time ttc
I have terribly irregular and long cycles (38-55 days) so makes things a little difficult lol.
Any advice or anything very welcome it's all a bit daunting! Confused

mrsweyms · 02/07/2017 21:10

Thanks @NotAMammy - have been managing to work most of them out - almost need a dictionary for here 😜

lokelani · 02/07/2017 21:16

Magpie24 · 03/07/2017 19:40

Hi ladies, I have a question. With tracking my temperature for predicting ovulation do I need to take my temp at exactly the same time every day? Or is half an hour or so difference alright? Thank you!

Magpie24 · 03/07/2017 19:41

And welcome @teaandshortbread! I'm on cycle 3 Smile

Bumpkin21 · 03/07/2017 20:41

Hi ladies, please may I join?

28, first time TTC, cycle #1, should be able to test on the 17th. Or maybe the 15th if I give in and test early!

I've been waiting ages for DH to be ready, so have read all I can, done as much googling and prep as possible, and hoping to get this BFP asap now he's ready!

teaandshortbread · 03/07/2017 22:30

I'm on cycle 3 too Magpie24 - it's still early days but I'm going insane waiting for AF to show up... Whenever that might be Hmm

Magpie24 · 03/07/2017 22:44

@Bumpkin21 welcome!! I am also 28 and TTC #1.

@teaandshortbread I'm the same. My cycles have been irregular since coming off the pill, first one 28 days second one 23 days. Hope they get a bit longer as I worry a 23 day cycle is a bit short for conception.

teaandshortbread · 03/07/2017 22:59

Magpie24 I have the opposite feeling... Last 3 cycles have been 46, 38, and 53 days Confused... Currently CD54. Some pms symptoms now so she may hurry up!

ddegville · 03/07/2017 23:09

Hello everyone. Hope you don't mind me joining in here. Me and my partner of 8 years have decided now is the time to start a family. This is our first cycle of trying. Calculated my ovulation date as Saturday 1st July so I'm now 2 dpo. I've never wanted to get to AF due date so quickly before! AF due on 15th July and the anticipation is killing me. If it's killing me now goodness knows what I'll be like in a few months if it doesn't happen before then!

Wishing everyone happy baby thoughts :-)

lokelani · 04/07/2017 07:07

Hi @ddegville welcome! It's going to be a long couple of weeks for you I'm sure. Are you tracking everything with an app?

By way of an update for me I'm now cycle day 40 still no AF. I said to DH at dinner on Friday I thought I should do a test and he freaked out. To be fair I've been saying this could take up to a year so to be saying that in the first cycle threw him and he was worried we had ruined our lives already. So I left it for a few days. I didn't want to test in this time incase there is a BFP! I brought it up again last night and he asked me (calmly) when I can do a test. So I said if there were no signs today I'd take one. I'll give it the day at work and if nothing test tonight. Eek! I'm feeling really tired I've been back from my travels for a week now so this can't be jet lag still? My boobs are so tender and heavy. I feel an underlying sense of nausea too...

MissyEm · 04/07/2017 07:29

CD 25 DPO 11. Is the witch going to turn up tomorrow. I am sad nervous at the thought of seeing a BFN and AF. I have had what I think were ovulation symptoms but it seems to have settled now. Boy this is tough. Do I wait for her to turn up?

Bumpkin21 · 04/07/2017 07:46

@ddgeville - we're due AF on the same day, so we can both be nervous together!

@MissyEm - good luck sitting in your hands, you have more patience than me. Fingers crossed for you!

ddegville · 04/07/2017 08:59

@lokelani - I'm using the app i was using for my AF tracker before we started TTC. It tells me date of ovulation and fertile days and i can track when we DTD, etc. It's a nice little app really.

@Bumpkin21 - Argh, I'm so nervous. Glad we can be nervous together! Good luck! I go on holiday on the day AF is due so there are now 2 reasons that i don't want her to arrive.

teaandshortbread · 04/07/2017 09:06

Morning ladies, the witch appeared today and I'm off to work dosed with painkillers :( not too surprised, I didn't feel very lucky this time. DH silent about it :S @lokelani and @MissyEm fx for a bfp for you both! See yas when I come out of hiding x
