Hi all,
I was just wondering whether anyone might be in the same boat as me and can offer some advice/success stories?!

My DH and I have been ttc for several months now without any success.
Unfortunately my cycles have been really irregular (ranging from 31 days to 51 days) since coming off bcp last summer.

I have tracked ovulation and I do appear to be ovulating on my own but to add a big spanner into the works, it looks as though my LP is only 9/10 days.

I can find a lot of info about short cycles with a short LP, but not so much on long cycles with short LP. Anyone able to help?

Oh wow Catmum congratulations on the triathlon - so impressive! I hope you're feeling suitably smug! And yay for the ovulation. How long have you been waiting for o this cycle?

I've had to reschedule my appointment for my PCOS scan as I am away on the date they gave me, hopefully drinking wine in Italy and not thinking about what my ovaries are up to. It'll be July by the time I get results. I also stopped the b complex after a few days as I figured I would rather the blood tests reflect what my body is doing all by itself.

bows how are you doing? Hope you are soaking up some sun and feeling better after a rubbish few weeks.

ocelot41 · 23/05/2017 12:51

Congratulations catmum! And DAILY full fat ice cream ladies, daily... For medicinal purposes!

Bows85 · 23/05/2017 23:08

Well done @CatMum87 Excellent work! And great news about ovulation too. Was this a bit earlier than normal again? Maybe the acupuncture is helping bring you o day forward...

I have no idea what CD I am or even if you can say I'm in a cycle really. Just plodding along hoping that some sort of normality returns soon. I'm feeling ok-ish. Have my down moments but I try not to dwell. Going away for BH weekend with DH so really looking forward to some quality time together, away from work and the shit that's been happening! So I hope to soak up some of the sun this weekend @cinderrose Smile

Thanks ladies! 5:30 am Sunday wake up call didn't go down too well, but I felt great afterwards!

I think i ovulated around Wednesday so 2/3 dpo I reckon. Positive opks on days 22 & 23 so very happy with that! My acupuncturist is trying me on some herbs this month to see if we can lengthen my lp......it doesn't taste too great!!

@cinderrose...relaxing in Italy sounds like the perfect way to forget about what's going on down there! Have you been before?? I've never been before but heard such nice things :). Hopefully you can relax with the knowledge that you'll hopefully get some answers from your scan/bloods.

@Bows85- hope you have a fantastic weekend away, enjoy the sunshine and couples time! xx

CatMum87 · 02/06/2017 10:28

Just thought I'd pop by....i got to 7/8 dpo this time....really disappointed that it was shorter than last time, with spotting from 4/5dpo damn 😣

The only positive I can take is that hopefully I shouldn't have af on my wedding day next Thursday which had I lasted the full 14 days (yeah cows might fly 😜) could have been a real possibility!

We fly today...so I can have a good old drink on holiday and figure out what to do for this cycle!

See you in a few weeks! Xx

Bows85 · 02/06/2017 17:53

Hello everyone! Hope you all had a lovely short week. My weekend away was lovely, went over too quickly.

Oh @CatMum87 I'm so sorry your LP is still being a nightmare. But I am loving the fact you can still see the positives, that's so important. And wow! It's your wedding next week?! That has come around so fast. I take it you're going somewhere hot! Have a fabulous time and enjoy your day. It'll be amazing. Don't think about any of this shit while you're away. Leave it behind in a box and pick it back up when you get home. Good luck for Thursday, we'll be thinking of you! 👰🏼🍾💞

Hi all, I'm on CD24 and still waiting for ovulation. Had some ewcm last week but it didn't result in anything. A bit bored now, this will be my latest ovulation for ages.

Bows - glad you had a good weekend!
Catmum - many best wishes for Thursday. Have a fantastic day!!

boatrace30 · 05/06/2017 18:10

Gah. Just been double baby bombed by two of my best friends in the space of 30minutes Sad

Bows85 · 05/06/2017 19:11

Oh no @boatrace30 I feel for you. So heartbreaking. It's just so unfair.

No amount of times I say "stay positive" or "it will happen for you soon" won't help, I know. But it is true. (Wish I could take some of my own advice!)

One thing my mum has been saying to me recently (after an influx of baby bombs) is the fact that other people's pregnancy announcements have no bearing on your ability to get pregnant. Doesn't take away how shit it is when you hear it, but good to remind yourself that it means nothing for you, on your journey.

Anyway, we're here if you need a rant FlowersFlowersFlowers

Thanks Bows and of course you are absolutely right! It's just hard to follow the advice isn't it?! How are you?

Bows85 · 10/06/2017 17:43

Eek, sorry @boatrace30 I never responded to you.

I'm ok, thanks. I'm trying to stay positive about everything and it works most of the time! But from time to time I do get anxious about what will happen in the future. How are you? Any sign of ovulation?

Hope everyone else is ok Smile

OP posts:
boatrace30 · 10/06/2017 23:32

Yes! Finally!! Pretty sure I ovulated yesterday, had positive opk on Thursday and a temp rise this morning, we dtd at the right times so we'll see. No major expectations though. I hate this part of the cycle.

All we can do is stay positive. As you said it works most of the time. Is your new appointment sorted?

catmum - you must be married now. Big congratulations!! Xxx

Bows85 · 11/06/2017 00:29

Yes @CatMum87 so exciting! Hope you've had a wonderful time.

No, no appointment through yet, just an acknowledgment that they have my referral which is really frustrating. I'd got the appointment through by this time when I was referred back in Feb, so had expected to hear by now.

Pleased you're on the other side of your cycle @boatrace30 It's the crappiest time, but just got to think that there's nothing more you can do right now. Just try to keep busy to take your mind of symptom spotting! And remember, I had no symptoms at all when I got my BFP so it's all bollocks really!

OP posts:
boatrace30 · 11/06/2017 17:21

Oh that is frustrating! Sad

I'm determined not to symptom spot? There is no point and DH has tests locked away, I'll get them out if I manage to get to 12dpo. Which is unlikely tbh.

My appt is now 6th July, I managed to change hospitals (long story) but I feel like it will just be a "booking in appt" and apparently any follow ups are 2-3months later so my expectations are low, but to be honest I'd just like to try either Clomid or some progesterone tablets.

Bows85 · 11/06/2017 22:24

Oh, that's good. Not long to wait, then @boatrace30 Hope it's a bit more than a booking appt.

I'm the same, I really think that progesterone is the key and clomid or progesterone supplement could be the answer.

I know that they will want to refer me to get HSG done (doc has already recommended this) so I'm seriously considering getting this done privately, before my appt so I'm ahead of the game a bit. I know it will cost £££ but, maybe worth it in the long run to get things moving faster. Maybe cross that bridge when AF arrives.

Fingers crossed you'll get to use those tests...Smile

OP posts:
boatrace30 · 12/06/2017 07:35

My doc has recommended nothing, all I've had his day 21 bloods, so I just feel it's going to move quite slowly.
Also tempted to go private but DH thinks (probably rightly) that we should exhaust NHS options first

boatrace30 · 17/06/2017 10:56

Another cycle another failure... 8dpo, big temp drop and period pains starting Sad

Bows85 · 17/06/2017 12:26

Oh @boatrace30 I'm so sorry. You never know though...you're not out until AF shows. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. But if it does arrive, please hold on to the fact that you're doing something about it all. Your appointment is soon and that will get the ball rolling for any investigations Flowers

OP posts:
boatrace30 · 19/06/2017 06:52

I'm being teased now. Very light, brown spotting yesterday which has completely stopped and temperature has crept up slightly. Only 10dpo but can't resist poas even though I know it will be a BFN!!

boatrace30 · 19/06/2017 07:08

And it was a BFN!

Bows85 · 19/06/2017 11:17

Omg @boatrace30 I have my fingers firmly crossed for you. 10dpo is still early days, don't lose heart!

You might remember that I tested at 10/11dpo last cycle with an IC and it was BFN. I got my BFP on 13dpo and it wasn't massively strong so you're definitely still in the game. I feel excited for you! Because if anything, it means your LP has lengthened which can only be a good thing Smile

OP posts:
boatrace30 · 19/06/2017 21:53

Well I've made it through the day. 11dpo here we come, never got that far before (well while I've been charting). Bows did you continue to temp when you got your bfp? I feel like mine is still too low to be too hopeful but it's impossible not to be at the same time!

boatrace30 · 20/06/2017 10:27

Update: AF arrived overnight :-(

Bows85 · 20/06/2017 13:04

Ah bugger @boatrace30 Same here, actually! So I'm joining you with the feelings of despair!

In answer to your question, I didn't continue to temp after I knew I had ovulated. However, I did temp the morning of my BFP because my AF hadn't started properly. My temp was around 0.4 over my normal baseline so that prompted me to test.

Here's to the next cycle being successful, eh? Flowers

OP posts:
boatrace30 · 20/06/2017 15:34

Sorry to hear that bows. Flowers Any news on your appointment?
