Hi all,
I was just wondering whether anyone might be in the same boat as me and can offer some advice/success stories?!

My DH and I have been ttc for several months now without any success.
Unfortunately my cycles have been really irregular (ranging from 31 days to 51 days) since coming off bcp last summer.

I have tracked ovulation and I do appear to be ovulating on my own but to add a big spanner into the works, it looks as though my LP is only 9/10 days.

I can find a lot of info about short cycles with a short LP, but not so much on long cycles with short LP. Anyone able to help?

Awe, fantastic news boatrace30 GrinGrinGrin congratulations, I am so thrilled for you. You must be on cloud 9 after hearing the heartbeat!! Such lovely news Smile

All good here, ticking along on day 16, waiting on signs of ovulation. Boring! x

CatMum87 · 18/08/2017 13:18

Awwww @boatrace 30, that's amazing news! So glad the scan went well :) Do we have a due date?!

@cinderrose I feel your pain, waiting for ovulation is very boring especially when it happens later than the 'usual'! Since starting ttc I am amazed how people accidentally get pregnant as there's such a short window of time to do the deed and get knocked up!

Think we are on similar cycle days :)- I am on CD 19 and had ewcm since the beginning of the week. Not using opks this cycle as ran out oooops!!

It's been 7 weeks since I had my referral so I called the doctors this morning and they assured me it has been received by the hospital. DH has now done his semen analysis 2 weeks ago but not had the results yet. I didn't realise the hospital were waiting on this before sending us an appointment Blush as the doctor didnt tell us this. Goof job I have had other things going on to distract me - hopefully have something in the post soon!

Have you heard anything yet??

boatrace30 · 19/08/2017 19:48

3rd April. All being well. Definitely feeling more relaxed about it after the scan but along way to go yet.

@CatMum87 , I feel your pain. It's so hard feeling like you are always waiting. I had a "baby bomb" that I'd have really struggled with had I not been pregnant. A friend freely admitted that they had sex "once" as in once in six months and is pregnant. Exactly same thing happened with her first DD. Not even particularly trying with either just a "we won't bother with contraception and see what happens".Made me Angry even though I'm pregnant!!

boatrace30 · 22/09/2017 20:20

Hi, hoping everyone is okay? Didn't want to keep posting loads now I've had bfp but still thinking of you all. Xx

cinderrose · 26/09/2017 09:20

Hi @boatrace30 lovely to hear from you, I hope your pregnancy is progressing well and you've been feeling well? How many weeks are you now?

I'm good - I got a shock BFP last cycle! I think I am 6 weeks today so very early days. This was same cycle where I had my progesterone repeated and the result came back at 24.3 with the lab/GP saying it was inconclusive as to whether I ovulated or not so I was totally not expecting a line to appear at 13 dpo.

@catmum87 and @bows85 - I hope you are both doing well and things are moving in the right direction for you x

boatrace30 · 26/09/2017 18:41

Oh that's fantastic news @cinderrose! Very pleased for you! I hope all continues to go well.
I'm 13 weeks now and have had my 12week scan. All fine then so fingers crossed it stays that way!

CatMum87 · 29/09/2017 18:11

Hello ladies Smile

@boatrace30 - So glad to hear things are going well. Can't believe you care 13 weeks already. Let's hope it's all plain sailing!

@cinderrose- wow that's great news!!! Ah so pleased for you, what a nice surprise that was after the worry of the tests!

Ok so if I had been writing this post on Monday 9dpo, DH would be ringing the doctors to find out his second sperm test results (the first one came back abnormal Confused) and I would have just been majorly baby bombed by my sister ( who already has two older kids). Couple this with perhaps TIM I bled after sex 8dpo so assumed at was on its way.

Fast forward to today 13 dpo and I got a BFP!!! The bleeding didn't continue and once I was past 10dpo I was like hhhm well this is different!!

I still can't quite believe it and am trying to stop myself from getting too excited about it all!

cinderrose · 30/09/2017 15:33

Wow! Congratulations @catmum87 what a wonderful surprise for you too :) what an exciting/ scary time! Xx

Bows85 · 03/10/2017 18:21

Hey everyone! So, so lovely to hear all of your news. Could not be happier for you all.

So sorry that I kinda went AWOL from the thread...but it was for good reason! Shortly after @boatrace30 got her BFP...I got mine! It's been a very nervy few weeks, but had our scan today and all appears well! I'm measuring 14 weeks today, which is slightly over my prediction but I'll take it! Still doesn't quite feel real yet, but it's definitely happening!

I'm so pleased I started this chat...what a lucky thread it's turned out to be. Hope your pregnancies are going well @cinderrose and @CatMum87 I honestly let out a little squeal when I read your posts!

Oh wow @Bows85 that's amazing news, congratulations! I'm so happy for you.. and I'm so grateful you started this thread. Just knowing that other women were in the same boat as me was so reassuring! And now we've managed to get knocked up Grin brilliant!!

I'm not sure when it will start to feel real. Even though I have all day nausea, it hasn't sunk in for me yet. So pleased for everyone, we've all proven that it can be done despite weird cycles and disappointing test results! Here's to healthy pregnancies all round Brew

CatMum87 · 04/10/2017 12:15

@Bows85 Grin Grin Grin 14 weeks wow! So so happy to hear that all is going well.

And I second everything that @cinderrose has said- if other stumble across this thread it can give them the hope and reassurance that it can happen despite the up and downs ttc throws at you!

It is such a surreal feeling, the days go so so slowly, and there are points in the day where i'll stop and think wow I'm pregnant (que mental happy dance!) Smile

Bows85 · 04/10/2017 22:25

Ah, it's so lovely to hear how happy you all are!

I am so pleased I started this thread too, it really helped me. It was such a relief to know that I wasn't the only one to have such odd cycles. And yes! I hope it does provide a bit of reassurance to women in the future if they ever search for long cycles/short luteal phase. I read loads of really old threads over the last few months so you never know!

@cinderrose poor you having such bad sickness. I was lucky not to have it too bad (long may that continue!). Hope you feel better soon. And @CatMum87 yep - I know those slow, slow days so well! It's awful! But you'll get there, just keep doing that happy dance!

Keep in touch everyone SmileSmileSmile

How are you all getting on? 16 weeks here!

CatMum87 · 20/10/2017 09:51

@Boatrace 30- cannot believe you are 16 weeks!! That seems to have flown by (although I bet it hasn't for you!) All well?

I am only around 6+5 and unfortunately it hasn't been entirely plain sailing, I've had quite a few wobbles :s . Started spotting brown a week or so ago so my doctor had my HCG levels checked and all seemed ok. But it continued so advised I go for an early scan. Had a scan tuesday at 6+2 an we saw a little heartbeat!!!! All settled down so i though that was just a blip but yet then again I've woken up to a bit more, ugh just trying to stay positive!!!

Hope everyone else is ok :)

Bows85 · 20/10/2017 11:48

Oh how scary for you @CatMum87 if it's any reassurance, my friend had spotting throughout her first trimester which scared her immensely. She had a few scans, each showing the baby was just fine. It stopped, but came back at about 14 weeks. Again, she was told all ok and she's now 28 weeks with a healthy baby and a beautiful bump! I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry. Seeing that heart beat must have been wonderful for you!

Yep, 16 weeks here too! Can't quite believe it. Heard the heartbeat on Wednesday at my MW appt which was so lush. Still totally anxious but focussing on next scan in a couple of weeks Smile

cinderrose · 20/10/2017 17:10

Oh @CatMum87 how stressful and scary. You must be counting down the days of the first trimester. Such good news that you've seen a heartbeat!! amazing :)

It's hard to feel 'safe' in pregnancy isn't it - every symptom I experience or look up seems to be normal... until it's not Confused

I'm 9 weeks now and have a scan at the end of next week. Of course I think I'll be 10+3 (based on long cycles and ovulation dates) and the NHS think I will be 12+3 by then so we shall see! Just hoping all goes well on scan day and there really is a baby in there!!

Congrats on making it to 16 weeks Bows and Boatrace :)

boatrace30 · 20/10/2017 21:48

Oh @CatMum87 - I get how stressful that is as I had bleeding from weeks 4-9 with first pregnancy. Is was bright red with clots at times so very scary indeed but all was fine, so do try and stay positive.
Be reassured by the heartbeat as while it's obviously no guarantee chances of a successful pregnancy go up massively after seeing a strong heartbeat.
I was advised to avoid exercise and sex until 16 weeks just to be in the safe side

Bows85 · 25/10/2017 21:45

How are you @CatMum87 ? Hope you're ok!
Hope everyone else is alright too Smile

OP posts:
CatMum87 · 26/10/2017 09:25

Hello everyone....I didn't seem to see all of your kind messages, thank you Smile.

I had a week off from the brown spotting and then it came back the other day. I just cannot relax about it at all....because it just reminds me of the lead up to my period, brown spotting gradually getting darker until it turns to red blood. There's a part of that thinks it could be linked to progesterone but the doctors said they just don't test for that in the UK. And my symptoms keep coming and going...jeez I'm just a mess lol.

So for now I'm holding onto the hope that it is brown not red and we saw a heartbeat last week. I actually have my first midwife appointment today so I am going to mention it to her today and see what she says.

@boatrace, I bet that was terrifying during you first pregnancy, but reassuring to know that blood doesn't necessarily mean something bad. I've definitely backed off on the exercise front and am just sticking to walking now and poor DH isn't getting a look in in that department!!!! xxx

boatrace30 · 27/10/2017 15:04

Aww @CatMum87 , I understand how hard it is. I do think you should be reassured that it’s brown and just spotting. Fingers crossed it stays that way and/or stops. Which I’m sure it will sooner or later.

boatrace30 · 27/10/2017 15:05

Good luck for the scan @cinderrose, let us know how it goes.

All fine here, had a week off for half term and have been ill. Typical! Just sore throat etc... but still - would have liked a more enjoyable week off!
