Thanks ladies.
Sorry I can't be of any help sunny
Yes that's true, some ladies have regular AFs and still have really heavy periods. I think its just hormones. I thought maybe taking the hormone in norethisterone might make it heavy/painful. To make matters more confusing I've been having really strange tinges on my left side all day. Could I be ovulating? Due on? Am I imagining things? Never mind norethisterone and Clomid I need a chill pill!!

Sunny1984 · 08/05/2017 14:36

SLady I think the whole thing messes with your mind!! I'm in agreement about the chill pill!! I don't think I've ever actually ovulated so wouldn't know what it felt like but the nurse kept asking before scans if I'd had any twinges!! Would it be worth doing a OPK if you have any?

Iamchanging · 08/05/2017 14:51

That's really interesting boggle, I assumed that it was heavy because it had been so long as the following two were perfectly normal.
I didn't ovulate on 50mg or 100mg but I had two nice big follies on 150mg and my lining was still fine so fingers crossed. 4DPO today and counting...

SLady · 08/05/2017 14:58

I'm not sure if I ever have either sunny. I've never used an OPK but I went on my lunch break to have a look and decided not to when I saw they were £26.99 haha. I need to get some from amazon. I've just always avoided it as I'm such an overthinker (as you can prob tell) and I know I'd obsess over them! It seems the norm for people to go up to 150mg you should query with your Dr if you need to.

Fingers crossed for this cycle changing what round of Clomid are you on, can you remind me?

Iamchanging · 08/05/2017 15:13

This is my third Clomid round this time - TTC just under 2 years for my first. I actually tried Clomid 6 years ago with my ex at 50mg and it didn't work, but I was told just to start taking it regardless of when I was in my cycle so unsurprising really! It wasn't until I got referred this time that I realised how dreadful my old doctors were!!

Iamchanging · 08/05/2017 15:16

Oh and slady I had really painful twinges this month around ov - the only time I've ever ovulated in 2 years so I'd say that's a positive sign!!

YouBoggleMyMind · 08/05/2017 15:30

The different hormones in your cycle make your body do certain things in preparation for egg release, lining thickening being one of them. With pcos, your hormones are out of whack so your follicle doesn't grow to be dominant and your lining in turn doesn't thicken. They kinda go hand in hand. It is obviously good to shed your lining a bit more frequently than once a year but it certainly doesn't build up to the point where a tidal wave comes out! I ask my GP this when I was being referred to the FC cos I was worried about it being a flood or making me ill from it staying in there so long!

Hi everyone- I'm new to this thread and wanted to say hello.
I have PCOS and I'm on my second month of clomid at 50mg. I'm 37 and had a child 2 years ago but I conceived the first month I took clomid which was so lucky and I got a positive OPK with that.

I'm now trying for baby no2 two years later but I'm not getting any positive OPKs on clomid, so do you think I should up my dose?

I had a day 10 scan in month one and they said the eggs were growing etc. and it was working but said I don't need scans in months 2 and 3. Appreciate any advice and sorry if I haven't got all the acronyms right, I'm new to this!

SLady · 08/05/2017 15:56

Gosh that's crazy changing no wonder it never worked! FX for you this time round sounding positive for you so far :)

I had a Google this morning after worrying about side effects and lots saying they had a heavier bleed, someone said they were in bed for a week after taking it with a bad period Shock. Do you reckon I should take it then boggle?

SLady · 08/05/2017 15:59

Hi rosea perhaps you could ask for a CD21 blood test. Then least you'll know for sure this dose is working for you

Sunny1984 · 08/05/2017 16:46

Hey Rosea I agree maybe ask for 21 day bloods so you have some idea what's going on.

Keeping everything crossed for you changing! Did they up your dose every month? Were you monitored through the NHS or privately? The fertility treatment where I live is shocking now they have completely stopped all IVF and with the NHS they would just send me away with Clomid 50mg for 3 months and only do one 21 day progesterone bloods in that time!

Iamchanging · 08/05/2017 17:13

I'm really lucky sunny, I'm on the NHS and the treatment where I am (north west) is fab. I get scanned on day 12 every month, and then bloods on day 21 if the scan looks positive. Also get two rounds of iVF should I need it. It's such a lottery isn't it, makes no sense that there is no standardised treatment. I did 100mgs for two months, it didn't work so I was put up to 150mg after that

AmyC86 · 08/05/2017 17:14

sunny I had folicales at 50, 100 and 150mg clomid. Only ovulated twice on the 150mg, third time was a complete failure & Doctor has said that I've become ammune to clomid.

YouBoggleMyMind · 08/05/2017 18:04

SLady, if it was me, I'd take it and crack on with clomid. I guess for me I'd look at it like this, no one is going to write down that they had a lovely dreamy experience, everyone is quick to write the negative, in any given situation. I'm 8 weeks pregnant and have had no sickness or nausea at all, but people who do are super quick to write down how bad they feel, but how often do we hear of women saying, yup, I had the best 12 weeks ever, didn't feel ill, nothing. It makes others worry that something is wrong or that they will feel so bad too, which isn't always the case.

What I'm trying to say is, you won't know how you'll react to it. You might feel right as rain, normal period, boom. Or you might feel crap and it could be heavy and horrible but googling won't be able to tell you about you! If it is bad, it's a week of your life and then it's done? It won't last forever.
I also wouldn't wana put off taking clomid any longer. What if AF never comes naturally? Then you'll regret all that time that you waited in hope that it would come of its own accord.

Good luck and we're all here to support you, whatever you decide! Smile xxx

FluffyEwok · 08/05/2017 18:48

Same here boggle. I'm 11 weeks 4 days and I've been fine. May be us Pcos ladies are so used to our hormones being all over we cope well with pregnancy? Are you due Xmas day? I'm 23rd November

YouBoggleMyMind · 08/05/2017 18:51

At the minute my EDD is 18/12 but fully aware that could change once we have our 12 week scan.
8 weeks today Grin

hoops25 · 08/05/2017 19:42

Hi everybody :)
I'm 21, just been diagnosed with PCOS. Not sure whether to start trying for a baby now or not as I'm not 100% ready but I'd rather have one now than never have one at all.
What do people think?
Nice to "meet" you all :)
x

SLady · 08/05/2017 19:43

Thanks so much for the advice boggle xx

SummerHopin · 08/05/2017 19:59

I agree with boggle. I had similar worries about my HyCoSy, the things people were putting online made it sound like it would be awful and hurt for ages. It was absolutely fine.

.....and even if it is bad, you'll know either way.

I say get going! Smile

SummerHopin · 08/05/2017 20:01

6 weeks here today. Got my scan booked in for 23rd may Grin

YouBoggleMyMind · 08/05/2017 20:32

Always Smile wishing you lots and lots of luck.

YouBoggleMyMind · 08/05/2017 20:35

Hi Hoops, welcome to the thread. If you're not sure you're ready for a baby, I wouldn't try just cos you've been diagnosed with pcos. You don't know if you'll even have problems conceiving. Lots of pcos ladies have babies without any problems. Your average couple can take up to a year to conceive and your GP won't do anything for you until you've been trying for a year unless you're 35 or over.

SLady · 08/05/2017 20:55

Thanks summer

Hi hoops I agree with boggle. I was young when I found out I had pcos. I just went on the pill and forgot about it until I was ready to start a family and just kept in mind that I shouldn't leave it tooo late. My dr told me 92% of couples get pregnant naturally within 2 years so that means a lot of pcos ladies are getting pregnant naturally. So like boggle says you might not even have any problems getting pregnant

Elly1685 · 08/05/2017 21:18

SLady have you decided what to do yet? To be honest I've had zero cramps today and have felt my happy self too which is good!

Ladies you must be so excited for your scans - I guess it makes it more real seeing something on screen?!

Welcome rosea and hoops, I agree with the other ladies hoops - you should wait until you're ready and not let pcos force you into making a decision. I knew from the age of 18 that I'd have trouble conceiving and I've waited until me and DH are ready (I'm 29 now)

Elly1685 · 08/05/2017 21:20

slady did you buy any opk's in the end. I started using them a while ago and got so disheartened using them that I stopped - maybe once I start taking clomid I could use them again but I worried I'll become a bit obsessed plus I've heard opk's + clomid = really inaccurate?
