Haha exactly @misty ! DP this morning was banging on about his friend who said the temping thing works...
I just said i have got enough things to angst about without buggering about taking my temperature every morning too! Although i am now kinda wondering....Hmm

Forevertimes · 12/05/2017 18:09

I'm 7dpo- I think! 7 days until I can POAS so says OVia and today I've had some really weird 'spotting' .

Sorry TMI! I don't even really know what spotting means but in my usual discharge there have been some brown spots today. I have never had this part way through my cycle before so I have no idea what it is. Any ideas? Am I onto the next cycle?

Flatwhite31 · 12/05/2017 18:55

I definitely can't POAS at work. I also wouldn't feel comfortable doing it in a school lol.
I'm feeling a bit down tonight. Work is so bloody exhausting, and I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever conceive when my body is this exhausted and stressed. Sigh.

MistyBxx · 12/05/2017 21:56

I could never be a teacher. I know a couple, and it's like... you're never really "off" work 😳 you're in work all day, then marking etc at home, then planning and parents evenings, exams, after school events, school plays etc. In my day job, even though it's quite intense when I'm there, when I go, I shut the door at 4:30pm and don't think about it again til I walk in the next morning! Don't feel down though... my friend (the one who made me cry showing up to our coffee meeting very pregnant the other week!) is a comprehensive teacher and a total stress head! But obv stress is no good for any of us. Can't help it when you feel that way though!x

Pibbee · 12/05/2017 22:44

Teaching is definitely a very stressful job! I used to get massively stressed out by work but I try my best not to let it get to me now as it's just not worth it!

I have only POAS stick once at work, and looking back I was acting like a bit of a loon! Goddamn pee sticks!

Hope everyone is having a good Friday night :)

Hi all 👋🏻
IM OFFICIALLY ENGAGED!!!!!!!!!!

He did it last night. We had been at his Mums for tea and when we got home there were flowers on the dining room table with little LED candles everywhere and a Beaverbrooks bag that said "open me". Once I opened it there was a note to start a treasure hunt around the house for clues that involved funny thing to do with our relationship and things that we'd done together, (one of them involving my favourite dancing baby groot toy!!) and then I found the box with the ring in but the note said "pass me to your handsome bastard" 😂 Which I did and he got down on one knee!! It was amazing and so much more than I could have asked for. He'd put so much thought into everything it was amazing!!!

Flatwhite31 · 13/05/2017 08:55

It's such a hard job Misty! Many people bang on about teachers having an 'easy life' with the (mythical!) 3.15 finish (I wish!) and holidays. If only they knew! Well I'm on CD 11 so approaching FW, and we DTD this morning as I was really in the mood all of a sudden! An early night last night paid off! We are going to in laws tonight for a night, so there's absolutely no way DTD will be happening there lol! We used pre-seed for the first time. I'm glad I read online that a little goes a long way, as that's certainly true! The full amount must be so, erm, messy and slippery! TMI! Have a good weekend ladies!

Flatwhite31 · 13/05/2017 08:56

@littlemma1 just read your message! Congratulations! That's so so lovely! Being engaged is wonderful, as is wedding planning! Enjoy every moment Smile. Xx

Pibbee · 13/05/2017 09:36

Congratulations @emma that's amazing news! And how lovely of him to do all that. Being engaged is the nuts. Yeah!

Millie1994 · 13/05/2017 09:37

@littleemma1 Ahhhhh that is so exciting 😄😄😄 congratulations 😄😄😄 you have a very thoughtful OH!!

I worked in a school for almost four years in HR and it really opened my eyes to how much work teachers do, definitely not something I could do! Especially with all the changes to marking etc absolutely crazy the amount of work you guys are asked to do!

I'm on CD33 and not yet had AF visit! Keep thinking she is coming but she hasn't appeared yet. Going to give it another week before testing as I'm still not overly sure what my cycle lengths since coming off the implant. Trying not to get excited as it is probably just a late period but there is still that little part of me that is not being rational and is a bit hopeful lol!

@Flatwhite31 fingers crossed for you! What does using pre-seed mean? (Sorry if that is a really dumb question lol)

Flatwhite31 · 13/05/2017 09:42

Fingers crossed Misty! Really hope this is your month.
Pre-seed is a sperm friendly lubricant. I've never used lube in my life, but I am rubbish at spotting EWCM, and I honestly don't know what to look for. I'm wondering if I actually even produce much tbh. The texture of preseed is meant to mimic EWCM. Who knows if it'll work, but we will see. I actually enjoyed the fact that it meant we could start DTD faster. I like foreplay (sorry TMI ladies, but we are all friends on here now Grin) but I like DTD more!

Forevertimes · 13/05/2017 09:48

Congratulation Emma that sounds so lovely!!

@flatwhite I hate to say but the fact that I could no longer cope with the workload and stress in a job I loved lead me to move to the Middle East. I work in a international school here where there is such a focus on work life balance. I rarely take anything home to do and although I start work at 6.30am, I do leave every day by 3.30pm. The main difference is I feel that I am trusted to do a good job without people checking up on me all of the time! If I come back to the UK I will never be a teacher again.

In other news I'm still getting an occasional red spot in my usual discharge (sorry tmi!) 6 days until I can POAS and I have no idea what's going on.

Flatwhite31 · 13/05/2017 10:27

@Forevertimes you are spot on there. I just wish we were in the position to do the same! That said, I adore my school, the children, the other staff and the actual teaching side of things, but the pressure and bureaucracy is a joke. My ideal situation would be part time. I know I'd be working for free on days off, but at least I'd have the weekends!
I had brown spotting most days after AF. Thankfully it has stopped now. No idea what caused it!

Twistedsister7 · 13/05/2017 11:03

Emma huge congratulations - I loved being engaged & wedding planning!!

I have been enjoying my new gym routine I actually hadn't checked any apps for days. Logged into Ovia this morning & im in fw apparently. DH literally pounced this morning so yay. But I'm still trying to forget the fact we're ttc if you get what I mean!! More spontaneity.

Flatwhite31 · 13/05/2017 11:07

Definitely Twisted. I was NOT in the mood last night at all. So tired and moody! However, woke up and was really in the mood, so we just went for it. Not even in FW week yet, so it definitely felt more spontaneous, which is nicer in a way. Glad you're enjoying your gym routine.

littleemma1 · 13/05/2017 13:09

Thanks everyone!! 😁 So excited, I'm literally bouncing around on cloud 9 today!!
Can't wait to get the plans in place!
Still sending my luck to everyone ttc and keeping everything crossed for you all. Can't wait for everyone's updates! Xxx

charl19 · 13/05/2017 18:35

Emma massive congratulations!! So exciting! Xx

Twistedsister7 · 13/05/2017 20:52

Hi guys. So I had my dr appointment and wanted to share info in case it is of use to anyone else.

I got conflicting messages from a family planning nurse & my diabetic nurse. I am type 2 & obese. FP nurse said I was ok on my Metformin but keep trying to eat well & exercise. Diabetes nurse was horrified I was ttc & said it wasn't a great idea.

Dr was incredibly helpful & explained that it was fine ttc on Metformin but agreed I should continue with a weight loss plan & exercise whilst ttc. She explained that should I fall pg I should request an immediate referral to midwife & it was likely they may switch my Metformin for insulin for first three months. She said this was not an issue & shouldn't cause me any problems. She went on to explain the higher risks of being pg & diabetic and prescribed me 5mg folic acid to take whilst ttc & once pg. She also pointed out that there was no confirmed link between my being obese & diabetic and I have a family history. Losing weight will be helpful but I may always be diabetic & having a baby is entirely possible as long as I follow advice & get the required medical intervention.

The day after I attended a diabetes group regarding eating well & learnt a lot!!

All in all I left feeling relatively positive & at least like I understood now what the risks were and the perceived severity & likelihood of these risks.

So keeping up with gym & low GI diet & dtd whenever the mood takes!!

Forevertimes · 14/05/2017 20:41

@flatwhite I said all that and then got the term dates for next year.... they are horrific to say the least!! 15 week term 1 with no half term break!

I think I'm out for this cycle. AF due in 5 days but I've now got cramps along with my brown cm on wiping (sorry tmi). Think AF will start tonight or tomorrow morning.

Feeling gutted but DH has said not to be too disappointed because it will just make us more stressed next month. Positive thinking for cycle 3.

How's everyone else getting on?

Flatwhite31 · 14/05/2017 21:02

Omg @Forevertimes! 15 weeks without a break is so long! Make the most of your summer hols.
@Twistedsister7, hope you're feeling ok after your appointment. Sounds like you're doing all the right things with your diet, going to the gym etc.
We are officially in the fertile week (according to Ovia) and have DTD twice so far (not at in laws though, haha!). I'm already confused by OPKs though. A Boots one I got a while back had a clear, visible line, but it wasn't quite as dark as the control line. An internet cheapie barely showed a line at all! I know that means both are negative, but I don't understand why the line on the boots one is so so much clearer, whereas the line on the other one is barely visible. Strange. The only possible ov symptom I have had so far, which I had last month, is a big increase in sex drive which I'm not going to complain about!

Flatwhite31 · 14/05/2017 21:03

Meant to say sorry to hear you think AF is on the way @Forevertimes. I was disappointed when my cycle 2 AF arrived, especially after all the sex we had on honeymoon, but my DH has been so positive which really helps!

Pibbee · 14/05/2017 22:02

Evening all!

@twisted I am glad you got some info from the docs! A lot to take in no doubt but you must feel better for having got some advice.

@forevertimes sorry to hear AF is on the way! I get random brown crap before AF. Its annoying. Onwards and upwards for next cycle....

@flatwhite what cycle day are you? OPKs are a nightmare, I hate them.

I have had a baby bomb this eve, a friend of mine just told me she is pg....Am pleased for her of course, also she has had several miscarriages along the way, can't help wondering when it will be my turn though!Blush

Flatwhite31 · 14/05/2017 22:15

@Pibbee I'm on CD 12. I just don't get how the two lines on the different tests are so different! The Boots one is sooo visible (although not as dark as the control line unfortunately), but the line on the other test is a squinter.
It's difficult hearing about other people's pregnancies isn't it. It must be so lovely for your friend after all her heartache, although I can imagine she must be nervous. I know I would be! Let's hope it's our turn soon.

Pibbee · 14/05/2017 22:21

@flatwhite can you try another cheapie one? Maybe the line will have gone darker by now? I don't know why they are so different....Last cycle I was trying to do the Clearblue ones as well as the cheapie ones, but found it all so annoying I just stopped! (And then I wonder why I am not knocked up...Hmm)

Re my friend, she is actually quite far along it turns out! Ive not actually seen her for ages so she's been able to keep quiet! She has had a really late miscarriage in the past so i totally get why she's not been shouting from the rooftops this time.

DP seems to have a bit more understanding of the fact that there are fertile days, as opposed to thinking you can just get pg forever. FINALLY!!!!

Twistedsister7 · 14/05/2017 22:47

I'm avoiding OPKs for now as never got consistent results. So frustrating.
