Hi Schnapps, welcome!! I think it can vary from person to person as to how long it takes for things to return to normal. If it's been a few months and you're concerned why don't you see your GP? They should be able to put your mind at rest, or refer you for tests if they think that's necessary....

I don't have much idea on the OPKs I'm afraid as I've not started using them properly yet....Lots of the girls on here do use them though so hopefully someone with some useful information will be on soon!

Twistedsister7 · 21/03/2017 15:45

OPKs are worth doing several times a day as it really change that quick. You should then see changes in the line.

I didn't have pill but I think it's taken 5 months to get back to normal for me despite dr saying it would be instant!!

Schnapps00 · 21/03/2017 16:42

Ah, thanks Pibbee & Twisted :) Interesting about the OPKs, in some places I think I've seen that you should test 24-48hrs, but just googled & it says 12-24, looks like I might be leaving it too long in between..not had any ovulation pain either though which I used to get sometimes (but not always to be fair). Didn't think I'd be eligible to see doc as thought you had to be TTC for a year? Don't like to bother them at the best of times, it would be reassuring though to see if things have restarted again.
Sending fertile thoughts to everyone on the 1st day of Spring!

Pibbee · 21/03/2017 16:58

I think in terms of fertility tests it's meant to be a year but for more general queries I'm sure you could make an appointmentSmile

JellyBean89 · 21/03/2017 17:36

Hello everyone!
@juno2002 congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!!!
Welcome @Marie90 @Mamarwady and @ReturnofSaturn and @Schapps00

Tess, im so sorry AF showed up FX for next cycle x

FlatWhite I hope your doctor appointment went well

Update from me: I haven't retested. Had pains around my ovaries today and my back and nipples hurt so I think AF is on her way. Today I have a horrid taste in my mouth, I don't know how to describe it, not exactly metallic. More like what I imagine old rust to taste like. It won't go regardless of how many times I brush my teeth or eat Sad

Flatwhite31 · 21/03/2017 17:50

Hi everyone,
My GP was really lovely. Urine didn't show infection, but it showed ketones which suggests dehydration or fasting, neither of which I was. Being a teacher, I drink plenty of water, and I'm certainly not fasting! Really strange. She thinks the pain is my womb contracting, but said to ring her on Thursday if the pain gets worse. It's so uncomfortable today. DTD should be happening tonight, but I'm not sure if I can Sad

JellyBean89 · 22/03/2017 11:18

Flatwhite that sounds horrible and it's at such an inconvenient time. How are you feeling today?

ttcnovice · 22/03/2017 14:41

How is everyone getting on? I've just had some spotting randomly - does anyone ever get this around ovulation? I've never had it before at all. I'm on CD15 today but still no peak on the OPKs, so coupled with the spotting I have no idea what's going on with me at the moment.

That sounds awful flat Sad. It's good that the GP has said to ring her back if it gets worse, you should definitely make sure you do! Hope it's lessened off today for you Flowers.

passmethewine123 · 23/03/2017 07:16

I occasionally get spotting when I ovulate novice so could be that?

Flatwhite31 · 23/03/2017 08:02

Hi everyone. Thank you @ttcnovice and thank you for asking @JellyBean89. I'm off work today which is unlike me (this is the person who only took 1 day off the day before her wedding!). It could just be dreadful pre-menstrual cramps, but although I don't know when my first real period will be, if it was to be a 28 day cycle, it wouldn't be due for another 11 days or so which seems early for cramps this bad. Google said it could be a side effect of coming off the pill, but they just feel so severe. Have been awake since 2am. May have to ring the doc again!

Pibbee · 23/03/2017 08:25

Oh no flatwhite that sounds painful Flowers I think you should call the doc's again.

I think ovulation spotting is a thing ttcnovice so yes it could well be that!

JellyBean89 · 23/03/2017 09:49

Ttcnovice I get spotting around ovulation too sometimes, freaked me out the first time.

Flatwhite I think you should call your doctor too. Pain shouldn't keep you up at night x

Im on cd 20 today, according to Ovia I missed my period. My CM dried up so I assumed AF was on her way but it came back and is really weird. I still feel nauseous but my boobs are not as tender. I'm constantly tired and my sleep is really crappy. Last night I woke up so many times. Also random but a few times I woke up because of a weird twitch/discomfort...down there Blush

Flatwhite31 · 23/03/2017 16:01

Hi everyone, got an emergency docs appt and it's a UTI! Got antibiotics. Got a temp too, which indicates that it may have started to spread. No wonder I feel awful! Hopefully I'll be right as rain in a few days. Thanks for all your support ladies. You're such a lovely bunch! Let's hope TTC cycle 2, when it arrives, is a healthier one for me!

mrsjkerry · 23/03/2017 21:37

Still all positive symptoms jellybean!

OP posts:
Twistedsister7 · 23/03/2017 22:23

Awww flatwhite fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for you.

Jellybean those could be symptoms so fx for you too.

I still have no OPKs & according to Ovia my fw is done but I still have ewcm!! I seem to get more each cycle which I hope is good.

If no BFP this time (which I doubt due to minimal dtd time) then I am on OPKs next months until I see lines in my sleep!!

Based on Ovia now in tww but I think I may be due to ovulate today/tomorrow due to ewcm & pain in my side.

ttcnovice · 24/03/2017 09:40

Glad you found out the problem flat get better soon! Flowers

So I think I might be out 11 days early Confused. Had spotting since Tuesday and then late last night and today it's gotten heavier (I'd say it's the flow of a "light" AF) - could AF be here 11 days early?! I don't think I've even ovulated, I've had 8 days of "high" on OPKs now with no signs of a "peak" (again Angry). It's so confusing - I've had years and years of textbook regular 28 day cycles, with nothing unusual at all, then we TTC and - bang! Everything goes haywire! Very strange ConfusedSad.

JellyBean89 · 24/03/2017 09:56

FlatWhite that's so annoying!! UTIs are actually horrid especially when they spread. Get well soon x

Mesjkerry and twistedsister7 everyone keeps telling me to test, family members actually told me I look drained and am I sure I'm not pregnant? Yesterday I threw up at work as someone was having McDonald's in the office, it made me sad because I LOVE McDonald's Sad I'm on CD21 now, going to way until CD28. I still don't have AF cramps or the usual backache. I had a backache last night and today but it's different, it's more like lower back on the sides and feels like pressure. I just don't want to get my hopes up tbh.

Ttcnovice thats so irritating. Do you think maybe stress over TTC might be changing your cycle?? X

Forevertimes · 24/03/2017 10:27

Hi all 😃

I would like to join please. I'm new to mumsnet ( trying to get my head around all the acronyms) and ttc for the first time.

I'm 27 and Currently living in the Middle East (3 hours ahead of you) but originally from the UK.

Me and hubby got married in January and decided to start trying straight away. He is 5 years older and has a beautiful daughter from a previous relationship.

I was on cerazette for 6 years and have heard some horror stories but so far everything seems to have got back to normal ( stopped taking the pill 1 year ago).

I'm on day 9 of my cycle and tried last night... Not sure how likely success is as seen as I have no idea about ovulation days.

Anyway, sorry for the babbling. Hello!

Pibbee · 24/03/2017 14:05

Hello Forevertimes! Welcome! Smile

JellyBean89 · 24/03/2017 14:30

Welcome Forevertimes!!!
I know what you mean the acronyms are so confusing, I still don't get confused sometimes but there are the ones I know (or think I do lol):
DTD: doing the deed or doing the dirty
BD: baby dance (sex)
BFP: big fat positive
BFN: big fat negative
AF: Aunt Flo, period
CD: cycle day
DPO: days Post ovulation

Anyone else have any more? Or want to correct me?

Pibbee · 24/03/2017 14:32

@flatwhite glad the doc could identify the issue and that it's being fixed! How are you feeling now?

@ttcnovice 11 days early does seem pretty early. Any chance it could be implantation bleeding?

i have nothing exciting to update on. Peed on a stick this morning and got the circle (i.e. no smily at all) which I was fully expecting at this stage.

ttcnovice · 24/03/2017 15:09

Jelly your symptoms sound so positive! Really holding out hope for you 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼. I had to laugh at you being so upset at the McDonald's, I would be exactly the same it's my biggest vice BlushGrin. I think you could be right and it might possibly be the stress of TTC, it's been getting to me more and more the last few weeks. Think I might take a step back from OPKs next cycle and see how I get on.

Pibbee I don't think so unfortunately Sad. I've been doing OPKs since CD8 so I would have had to have ovulated super early for it to be implantation. Just looks like yet another confusing thing to add to the TTC strange-ness list!

Pibbee · 24/03/2017 16:21

Yeah TTCNovice I can see myself getting all kinds of wound up with these damn sticks! I think it might be sensible to try to avoid if it's doing your head in. I am going to be using them this cycle though, mostly cos I haven't really used them before so might as well give it a go, but also (and this is a bit annoying) me and DP are so busy with work at the moment that it's exhausting even trying to fit DTD in! So if I can get an idea if when are the crucial days so to speak, then can focus on at least DOING IT then. Theoretically, I wanna be doing the 'every 2 or 3 days' thing, but that's just not working out due to lack of time/being tired! Pfffffffff

mrsjkerry · 24/03/2017 17:31

@JellyBean89 maybe wait until CD25. But again, all sounds positive.

Forevertimes · 24/03/2017 19:44

Thanks Jellybean that's a great help!!!

Is everyone using ovulation sticks to find out the best time ?
