Thread 24. TTC #1 - It's been a tough start to the year but 2017 is still the year of the BFP

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

It's not been the best start of the year for most but we're still trying to keep it PMA Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Good luck Kath and Alexia! I sense some symptom spotting on the horizon for you both very soon Grin

Flashinthepan · 28/01/2017 22:36

Ok so I'm 8 spoon and doing some serious symptom spotting. I have had af cramps on and off thought the day yesterday and today, I've also got a stuffy nose and headaches plus burping and nausea. But the main thing is, apart from a tiny smudge of brown yesterday morning I have no spotting, even if I root around up there looking for it! So even if it's no bfp, I'm only 4 days from af and not spotting which means something has changed for the better. Also the crazy sore giant boobs, but as kwick so rightly says, you can't trust the boobs! Now need to hunt out a frer for Tuesday!

Pyjamas81 · 28/01/2017 23:57

Ah flash - this part of the TWW is the absolute worst! Really hope these next few days go quickly for you so you're out out of your misery!

Skipper - shame you didn't have the chat you wanted, but the right time will come and sounds like you had a great day with your mum which will be a lovely memory 🙂 Reminded me of all the wedding planning I was doing this time last year - I wasn't one of the brides that enjoyed it though, it really stressed me out! And your DH sounds like a keeper!

Skiing was so much fun! Hard work as didn't know what the hell I was doing, but the instructor was great. It was such a fab day with DH and it's great to find something we can enjoy together 😃

A lot of creamy cm today, so reckon ov definitely happened - the only question is when. Also discovered a weird spotty like rash on my jawline and left side of neck which randomly appear d tonight - I know they're not symptoms as way too early, I'm just annoyed it's there! I have never ever had spots, not even as a teen, so I'd rather not start getting them at 35!

kwick · 29/01/2017 07:06

sk1pper I am sure you will find the right time to tell your mummy. And yay for your DH doing the housework!

The thing is kathrino I think the drier will be a God send - not only will it mean I can get the laundry done faster but it will add extra heat during the winter months. I agree that Lakeland is very expensive - but I researched heavily and this was the only place that sold this compact drier. Cannot wait to try out tonight (am at my mums at the mo).

kwick · 29/01/2017 07:09

flash hang in there!!! i am keeping my fx for you.

Well I have gone from wierd horrid dreams to wierd erotic dreams Blush not sure what that means...

Anyway going to try and get back to sleep (again).

Pyjamas81 · 29/01/2017 08:04

So FF has tentatively picked up ov and is saying it maybe happened on Thurs, I really thought it had happened on Weds, but obviously Friday's temp threw a spanner in the works! If there are any chart experts, feel free to give me your expert opinion! As a reminder, I got a flashing smiley face the morning I got a positive, then a positive early that evening confirmed by a static smiley.

No more temping for me this cycle 😊😊😊😊😊

Woke up still looking like a spotty teenager though - unacceptable.

Flash - I know how relieving it is to remove the spotting from your cycle so well done!

Pyjamas - I've started getting spots too as an ovulation indication. I get it before AF too, so it must be when my progesterone goes up and down. It really is shit, I now buy all those brands aimed at teenagers, like clearasil, just to control it a bit better. Also glad you enjoyed your skiing!

Kwick - glad everything is okay for you at the moment despite the bad dreams. I like the relief of waking up from a bad dream, sometimes it puts life in perspective for me.

Pyjamas - I've got everything crossed for you my HSG buddy. So you only temp to confirm ovulation? That's a good idea!

Pyjamas81 · 29/01/2017 09:19

Hi skipper HSG friend! Have got everything crossed for you as well 🙂 So weird about the post-ov spots - going to do a face mask to try and draw out all the crap. And yep, only temp until ov picked up - temping afterwards doesn't tell me anything AF won't tell me until very last minute. All it does is gets my hopes up for two weeks and increases my craziness! Temping first thing also means that the first thing I think of when I wake up is TTC, so it's nice to have a break from that for a while 🙂

harrietm87 · 29/01/2017 09:45

pyjamas I'm pretty sure I ov'd on Thursday too. Also a sufferer of spots on the jawline! I had clear skin as a teenager but it's been awful since I came off the pill 3-4 years ago (I had non-hormonal coil after).

skipper what a lovely DH you have.

We viewed and fell in love with a wreck of a house yesterday. In light of the work can only afford to offer under asking price, but 4 other interested parties and sealed bids Monday so not holding out much hope and feeling pretty miserable!

Pyjamas81 · 29/01/2017 10:08

Looks like we're cycle buddies then Harriet? When are you testing? I'm testing on 11th Feb so am waiting until AF a couple of days late and will be 16dpo.

These spots are driving me nuts! They're not like regular spots though, more like a rash - brilliant 😒

Londonjam · 29/01/2017 10:46

That's a result on less spotting flash

Hurrah for temp rise pyjamas !

I had made the connection but I think I get spots around ovulation too. I got two on my chest this cycle, out of nowhere.

Am 10 DPO today and feeling quite crampy, achy and heavy. My boobs are so so sore. Usually feel like this at 13-14 DPO , so I hope AF isn't going to get here early.

Tonks87 · 29/01/2017 11:13

Pyjamas I get spots on my jawline around ovulation too. I did read as I google absolutely everything that spots around the jawline is a sign of a change in hormones.

Kwick your dreams sound interesting!

I'm 10dpo too London and I'm feeling exactly the same. When I went bed last night I was convinced I would wake to AF.

Pyjamas81 · 29/01/2017 11:39

Ah yes tonks - hormone change would make sense. It's a deeply annoying side effect - I never ever have spots so it's making me feel a bit self conscious 🙁 I just wish my cycles would have the same damn symptoms, this is yet another new one in the mix!

10dpo London and tonks - gah, that is prime crazy time for me, hope the next few days go by quickly for both of you and have my fx!

Londonjam · 29/01/2017 11:50

I hope they do too pyjamas it really is the worst bit of the cycle for me. I feel dreadful today, so heavy and light headed and headachey and like I just want to go back to bed. I hate PMT!

Am glued to nadal and fererer though such a joy to watch

Tonks87 · 29/01/2017 12:37

Me too. Me and DH have got a few days in London planned from Wednesday which is also when AF is due. So it will either be a great time celebrating or a good chance to cheer ourselves up and have a few glasses of Wine.

I'm glad Federer won London. I've loved watching him over the years and I worry we won't see many more wins.

harrietm87 · 29/01/2017 12:53

pyjamas I'm testing 8 Feb which is 13 dpo and when AF is due. I have shortish luteal phase which I hope won't be a problem! No symptoms yet except I've been in a really grouchy mood - my poor DH has been bearing the brunt!

Who is next to test? jam??

macsworth · 29/01/2017 13:06

Sounds like a few testers coming up. Got my fingers tightly crossed for you all.

I love Federer as well, he's such a graceful player.

I managed to get out for a run today for the first time in ages! It was hard work but made me feel so much better 🙂.

macsworth · 29/01/2017 13:15

Also can people remind me what I should be doing after AF before Ov?

I have kiwi and milk in my head, is that right?

sk1pper · 29/01/2017 13:28

Macs - Kiwi is news to me but Kwick swears by milk for juicy eggs. I normally have raspberry leaf tea every day to thicken and improve the lining, and EPO capsules to improve CM.

I found this on Pinterest which may help -

Thanks for the list Jam. Excited that we've got some testers coming up soon. Is it just me or has it been a while? I feel like the more time we spend on here, the more we seem to be syncing ;)

Well done for getting out for a run macs, I always feel like getting the blood flowing can only be a good thing when it comes to TTC.

kwick · 29/01/2017 16:02

macs I would advise that you drink LOTS of blue organic milk Grin

sk1pper · 29/01/2017 16:48

So the last two times I used the advanced opks for a cycle, I got 4-5 days of high followed by peak. This cycle I got 1 day of high (yesterday) and today is peak. Argh, I wish we'd DTD last night as well now...but hopefully it will still be okay if we DTD tonight.

Pyjamas81 · 29/01/2017 17:13

Thanks for the list jam - lots of testers up soon! I'm testing on the 11th (if AF doesn't arrive on the 10th when the old hag is due) 🙂

Exact same thing happened to me skipper - I usually get loads of flashy faces but only got one this time before getting static. Maybe something to do with our HSG?! Who knows.

Thanks for the superfoods list tonks - apart from the milk, salmon and oysters (am vegetarian and I hate milk), I consume quite a lot of the others! Especially avocado. Tried having regular milk in my cereal the other day (normally have almond milk), and it made me gag 🤢

Went for lunch today with DH's sister and her family (including 2 kids - a three year old little girl and 7 year old boy). His niece told me she loved me and it melted me - I'm usually total crap with kids!
