Thread 24. TTC #1 - It's been a tough start to the year but 2017 is still the year of the BFP

AlexiaB · 15/01/2017 13:57

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

It's not been the best start of the year for most but we're still trying to keep it PMA Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Sorry about AF Winging Flowers

Skipper I told my mum all about TTC. I did get the odd comments like "oh it took so long for me to fall pregnant, I thought something was wrong, it was 3 months before it happened" & "just relax" 🙄 But on the whole it was good to have her to talk to as DH didn't want to talk about it much. It was nice to have someone in RL to vent to.

Kwick I watch bachelor in paradise. The women on it are crazy!

Pug hope you're ok, have been thinking of you xx

Mac sorry about AF Flowers I'm pleased to hear your brother is ok.

Pyjamas81 · 28/01/2017 09:37

What horrible dreams skipper! I always see to get weird dreams in tww - think it's the stress.

DH slept in spare room last night as he was home late (basically what I should have done on Thurs night) - I hear him stirring upstairs, let's see what his mood is like!

Still no ov picked up although my temp is elevated, think yesterday's mega high temp has thrown it off so may take a bit longer.

Mrsbluebell17 · 28/01/2017 09:41

Thanks for the reassurance skipper and tonks. Will try to resist in future Grin

Londonjam · 28/01/2017 10:15

Lol smitten I wish Beyoncé was my sister in law!

Hope you shifted your headache alexia could sickness be a good sign...?

Hope it's not af carley, enjoy your girls night

Sorry macs you are really going through it at the moment. Thinking of you 🌷

Bluebell I'm going to give you my least favourite advice but I think worrying about TTC in the night is not nice, can you try to distract yourself and do some relaxation techniques or activities like a walk or yoga? It sounds like it's really getting to you

Skipper I get nightmares in the TWW it's all the progesterone I think. I think you're still pre O though ? Good luck with your mum today

Pugmummy87 · 28/01/2017 10:51

Skipper I'm CD17 today. That's counting from the 1st day of heavy bleeding from my miscarriage though. And I have longer cycles. Last cycle I ovulated on cd19.

You're having a really tough time macs I hope things look up for you very soon. Flowers

I live in a village on the outskirts of a famous university city, deliveroo deliver in the city but not this far. In fact the only place we can get takeaway deliveries from are Domino's and the local Chinese. If you want something you have to go and collect.

I went back to slimming world on Thursday and was absolutely dreading it as I've eaten so much junk and thought I was going to end up above my starting weight. I only ended up putting on 1.5lbs in 2 weeks. Hope to lose that this week. I'm not strictly following the plan, I'm adding in some healthy fats (synning them where I can) such as avocado (9 syns!!) and nuts and seeds, carefully portioned but not eating some of the more processed stuff like muller lights etc which I know are free but are stuffed full of sugars and sweeteners. I plan to head back to the gym again too.

Mrsbluebell17 · 28/01/2017 12:02

Jam I'm good, but thank you - it means a lot that you posted that. I wasn't worrying about it all in the night, just awake thinking about it. I had been out for a few drinks and I don't do that very often but when I do I can never sleep after. I'm just a worrier in general, but I'm all goodSmile I think I'm done with OPKs now, first month using them properly (missed the boat last cycle when I tried to, started too late) and I have the only answer I needed which is that I am infact ovulating.
I will keep my fingers crossed for BFPs for all in the coming weeks and months. Thanks for everyone's support Smile

Miranda234 · 28/01/2017 12:02

Sorry about AF winging and mac Flowers. Can't imagine what you're going through mac, I hope things start to look up for you soon.

Good luck talking to your mum sk1pper I found it a relief to let my family know we're TTC although I haven't said we have been trying so it's a bit different. It was also really nice to feel the excitement from them, as I find it's hard to get too excited now as its always so disappointing when AF appears but it should be a really exciting time for all of us Smile

Well done for getting back to slimming world pug the first steps always the hardest.

Hope your DH is talking to you now pyjamas

Enjoy your time up north jam

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. We're now off to babysit my niece and nephew who are 1 and nearly 4, hope they behave themselves Grin

Pyjamas81 · 28/01/2017 12:14

Good work heading back to slimming world pug - the first step is always the hardest!

Jealous of you being done with opks bluebell - my ovulation days vary quite a bit and we just don't dtd enough outside fertile week for me to feel comfortable throwing away the opks. Fx for your BFP ☺️

Hope your chat with mum goes well skipper

Thinking of the babysitting as practice Miranda ha ha

DH speaking to me again now (clearly just needed a good sleep) and back to his chirpy self - we're for a 2 hour skiing lesson today! Bit scared, but will be a good distraction 😊 I think I'll be able to relax a bit more when my temps confirm ov.

kwick · 28/01/2017 14:17

Get well soon carley Flowers

Sorry about BFN macs Flowers I really hope your brother is on the mend.

Horrid dreams sk1pper do my head in too Flowers best of luck with your mummy.

starmist good to know I am not the only one watching it!!! They are vicious!!

Yep pug I find the SW thing with avocado tough - I try to eat some everyday! TBH I am just focusing on healthy eating at the mo - it was actually really nice to have lots if leafy greens last night and I just had a Leon dish for lunch which had a lovely slaw.

Good to know you are out of the doghouse pyjamas!

I just got a Lakeland heated clothes drier!!!! So excited!

AlexiaB · 28/01/2017 14:57

Carley a girl's night sounds just what you need. Enjoy Wine

Bluebell though I think it's highly likely you are ovulating, just thought I'd say that OPKs alone cannot prove ovulation. Only temping or a blood test can. EWCM and O pain along with a +ve opk is quite trustworthy though. IMO ic opks are so cheap (I get 90 delivered for about £9, lasts me 4-5 months) I'd keep using them if you want to next cycle. They do provide reassurance that you've nailed timing/FW.

Tonks no I don't think you're out yet as your temp could easily bounce back up again tomorrow. This could be viewed as a potential implant dip but I'm cautious to say this as you also had a large dip at 7dpo. It's also hard to interpret your chart fully as 6 & 8 dpo are open circled (why?). You should know more with tomorrow's temp. And remember, you don't need a pretty chart to be pregnant!

Hate dreams like those skipper. Hope you're alright now, often takes me a while to shake it off.

Sorry about AF macs. Hope your brother keeps improving FlowersFlowers

I'm not sure Jam. I hope so but maybe just a progesterone thing?

What channel is the Bachelor in Paradise on Kwick/Starmist? I love that type of thing!

Glad things are back to normal pyjamas. Enjoy the ski lesson! not jealous at all

Great practice for you Miranda Wink I'd love nieces/nephews.

Well done Pug Star

Yay for heated clothes drier kwick !!

Mrsbluebell17 · 28/01/2017 15:02

I know what you're saying pyjamas. For me I did them for reassurance to know I was ovulating. Now I want to park them as for the time being I don't want to get too caught up in the ifs and buts. However, I know that is much easier said than done. I've vowed to myself that if I feel the need to do one now I'll just use the cheapies now I know they can show the peak for me.
Hoping for a BFP for you. I think going forward I'll just try to DTD every other day from cd10 through to cd20 but who knows if we'll manage that!

Enjoy your ski lesson. I learnt to ski at a uk slope in 2013 but I've never been since and don't have any interest in it longer term as I like sun holidays too much, but it was really good fun nonetheless and I don't think I'd hesitate to do a course again someday just for the fun factor. Enjoy x

Mrsbluebell17 · 28/01/2017 15:05

Thanks for your comments too Alexia. I have just said a similar thing to pjs regarding maybe using the cheapies going forward. I'll see how I get on. I know it can't prove it totally but I wanted to know I was at least getting that peak reading and surge. I can't temp as I have to get up at different times every day and every week for work, so until I feel the need to progress to blood tests then I'll need to make do with this info. It's all good though, apart from a bit of cramping today and feeling a little more emotional than usual for the last few days, I'm a happy bunny Grin
Have a lovely weekend x

Tonks87 · 28/01/2017 15:23

Thanks for taking a look at it Alexia. The white circles are because they were taken earlier because I woke up before my alarm. I usually take it at 6.30. CD6 was at 5.55 and CD8 was at 5.40. Would this have much of an impact on the temps?

AlexiaB · 28/01/2017 15:48

Bluebell I think that's a good plan. If dtd EOD is a bit much for long periods of time then I'd suggest paying close attention to your CM. Once it's turning from creamy to wet/clear then you can dtd more (opks help here). Agree there's no point temping with inconsistent wake times, also not necessary if your cycles are regular. Have a lovely weekend too! X

No I don't think that would have much impact Tonk especially if you had solid sleep before waking. CD6 is a basically a full circle imo as 30 mins early is fine. If I woke an hour early I'd trust my temp but not if I woke 1-2 hours later (always too high). So yes, I think they're reliable Smile

Alexia it's on ITVBe on Sundays at 7pm. It's great trash telly!

Tonks87 · 28/01/2017 16:02

Fingers crossed it jumps back up tomorrow. I have what feels like pre AF cramps though so I'm not overly optimistic. But you never know!

I love trashy tv so I'll take a look at bachelor paradise too. I'll need something to replace CBB now it's almost finished.

AlexiaB · 28/01/2017 16:12

Thanks Star love trashy TV too! Grin

Hope it's not AF Tonks, cramping could be a good sign! I was meant to say 6dpo not cd6 above btw. Always make that mistake lol

OP posts:
Tonks87 · 28/01/2017 16:22

Me too, I did the same! Lol

sk1pper · 28/01/2017 16:31

Bleh I totally failed guys, I just couldn't tell her. My dad was there and I don't want him to hear the ins and outs of it - he's probably better off hearing it second hand from my mum. But my mum was so excited about all the wedding stuff she'd done for me it just wasn't the right time anyway...

It was still a lovely day though, we spent most of it working out how to cut different letters from an alphabet punch. Sounds sad but it was strangely therapeutic.

macsworth · 28/01/2017 18:16

Thanks for the words everyone. You're all so lovely. I think I'm going to try this cycle but not got the energy for full on monitoring so will just try regular DTD.

sk1pper so sorry it didn't work out today. I really hope you get another chance to talk to your mum. I've told mine and it was a relief and stops her making hints to me. I'm not sure what she's told my dad, don't mind him knowing but totally get not to wanting to discuss with him!

Also wanted to say thanks to all those who have recommended Yoga with Adrienne. It's been a great stress relief and my DH really enjoyed it.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I'm babysitting my nieces (my brothers kids) so we're about to settled down with catch up marathon of Hotel First Dates which they love!

Londonjam · 28/01/2017 18:20

Bluebell I'm the same with booze. We had a few glasses of wine last night and I slept terribly!

Hope you had fun babysitting and it didn't put you off Miranda 😊** I tend to fixate on the TTC and almost forget about actually having a baby?!

Glad your DH has come round pyjamas

Yay for warm dry clothes kwick! That'll be handy for baby stuff too

PMT sometimes makes me feel a tiny bit nauseous alexia but not full on sick. Hope it's a good sign for you

Ah skipper I'm sure you'll find the right time to talk to her. Glad the wedding chats planning were good, how exciting! I went to a florist with my sister in law to be today , it brought back memories of planning our wedding 🌷I loved it so much!

sk1pper · 28/01/2017 18:27

Fucking hell, I get home and OH has done the vacuum cleaning and food shopping. He's really getting lots of brownie points from me this weekend Star. And my opk is flashing at me...so glad to see it, need to nail this cycle.

Macs - have fun baby sitting Smile

What's everyone else up to this eve?

Kathrino · 28/01/2017 19:03

Sk1pper, how lovely of your DH! Pretty sure mine just plays on his x box whenever I go out ;) Glad you had a good day with your mum even if it wasn't the right time to tell her, you'll get another chance I'm sure.

Jam, florist was one of my favourite bits. For some reason it made it same so real. I saw somebody this week holding a bunch of blue thistles which we used in ours and it brought it all back.

Macs, sounds like you've had such a stressful time recently. Enjoy your evening with your nieces!

Happy babysitting to you to Miranda!

Tonks, cramps sound a good sign! Hoping you'll get hat BFP in a few days :)

I'm so jealous of your drier kwick! I'm not allowed in Lakeland because I buy too much there...

Pyjamas, glad you and DH are happy and enjoy your lesson today!

We had a delicious lunch out with my parents today (so delicious, I just had a nap). DH is out with his mates today but has assured me he won't be too late/drunk. I'll believe that when I say it. Like last month, very slight cramps here at 5 DPO. I hope this is not going to become the usual for my cycle!

Tonks87 · 28/01/2017 19:32

Sorry talking to your mum didn't turn out how you hoped Sk1pper. I'm sure there'll be another time when bringing it up feels right. I'd be the same about my dad being there. I've always been a daddy's girl and the thought of him knowing what we're up to kind of grosses me out a bit. I loved making crafty things for our wedding, I still miss it.

My DH is the same kathrino. The PS4 is usually switched before I've even left the room!

I hope babysitting is going well Miranda. Me and DH are the youngest in both our families so had no experience of kids until older brothers/sisters had there own. Watching them get older and turn into proper little people makes me want my own family even more.

Me and DH are having a Netflix and chill night with a take away curry - pretty much our standard Saturday night.

AlexiaB · 28/01/2017 20:38

Skipper hope you get another chance to tell your mum soon. Your day together sounds soo cute! How lovely of your DH too - now get baby making Wink

Your day sounds lovely Jam. As does yours Kathrino - and we're cycle buddies too as I'm 5dpo!

Having a quiet night in too. It's freezing! TV, cuddles and chinese ❤️
