Thread 24. TTC #1 - It's been a tough start to the year but 2017 is still the year of the BFP

AlexiaB · 15/01/2017 13:57

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

It's not been the best start of the year for most but we're still trying to keep it PMA Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Tentatively back wondering how Pyjamas has got on...

Hope everyone else is okay xx

Binkybunny13 · 20/01/2017 11:40

Hope you're ok pyjamas- thinking of you

Hi sk1pper, how are you doing? Hope you're feeling a bit brighter?

sk1pper · 20/01/2017 11:49

Oh hey binks - yup yup just had major NMA, but think it was hormone related because AF was horrendous. Feel...good today :)

How are you doing?

Pyjamas81 · 20/01/2017 12:14

So I've had the HSG - posting this update on both boards I'm on so don't have to type it twice! Hope no one minds.

What 'fun' today has been - I took the antibiotics 2hrs before appt and felt soooooo sick at work. Spent over half an hour in the disabled loos lying on the floor and trying not to be sick. Luckily it cleared up just before I had to get on the tube or I may have cleared out a carriage!

The HSG itself only took about 5 mins, and I'm not going to lie, I nearly cried. I don't want to freak anyone out though - everyone is different and my cervix apparently tilts backwards so he had to work hard to get it in right position which made it worse than it probably is for most people. I can barely get through smear tests because they're so difficult.

They then insert something through the cervix so they can inject the dye (ouch) and when the dye was going through it felt like severe period cramps (which I don't really get so was a surprise) and burning. I have to admit - there were tears in my eyes and a lot of heavy breathing!

The good news is - everything is clear and he didn't see any problems - hurrah! The dye took longer to get through right tube but made it through in the end. They said it could mean a range of things including some debris in the tube or a tight tube. I'm hoping it's some debris which was flushed away! I'm now spotting quite heavily and they advised me not to dtd for 24hrs to give the dye time to clear out. That's fine, FW kicks off tomorrow night anyway!

Skipper - glad you're feeling a bit better today. Feel free to ask me as many questions as you like about the HSG.

Flash - part of a range of tests, which I'm pretty much done with. I'm going to make an appointment with consultant to discuss results and next steps. Everything for me and DH has come out normal apart from my low AMH and follicle count. She said before that if my tubes are clear (which they are) we can just try naturally for a couple of months before deciding on whether to go for IVF. My low AMH means time is an issue, so if we have no luck by March/April, we'll go for it.

Sorry for monster post!

sk1pper · 20/01/2017 12:39

Pyjamas - so glad you're okay and that your results were clear, I bet this is a huge weight off your mind. Also, I appreciate your honestly regarding the pain etc, my gynaecologist has already told me mine will hurt because of all the problems I've had with ruptured cysts so I'm mentally prepared now. (I think). What was the name of the antibiotic you were pescribed? So your next step is IVF? Have you been officially diagnosed with that useless term "unexplained infertility"?

sk1pper · 20/01/2017 12:43

Also, the fact it took longer to get through your right tube (and eventually did) is a really good sign - I really hope this is the solution for you with regards to natural conception. Maybe you only had one functioning tube which is why it was taking so long

Pyjamas81 · 20/01/2017 12:52

I was prescribed Azizthromycin and Flagyl (a suppository - nice). Felt so sick but feel fine now!

Next steps - I'm going to make appt with consultant to talk things through but as there are no issues with my tubes or with DH we'll ttc naturally for three months and if no joy, then we'll go for IVF. Time is a real issue for us. I'm taking ubiquinol to try and improve egg quality so want to give that time to take effect too.

Like you say skipper - really hoping it was just a bit of debris which has now been cleared out of the way. Interesting that it was the right hand side tube and I always get ov pain there.

I really hope yours goes ok - I have everything crossed!!

GimbleInTheWabe · 20/01/2017 13:26

Pyjamas lying on the loo floors and a suppository do not make for a fun day - poor you! But brilliant news that everything looked clear and now that part is done and dusted and a FW ahead of you too.

As for post-coital positions I used to be a dash straight to the loo kinda gal. Now I just sorta...chill there whilst DP sorts himself out. I think it'd freak him out if I stuck my legs in the air.. not judging though as I would totally do it otherwise!! This may be TMI but those Andrex toilet wet wipe things are the best thing ever for cleaning up as it were. We bought some on deal to try them out and now we're hooked on them!

In other news I woke up this morning with sore/tingly nipples and have been having a muscle cramp type feeling on the front of my vjayjay.. just googled the name of where I mean and it's called mons pubis !!! This has made me giggle like a school girl hahahaaa. Also I've been getting sharp painful twinges in my lower back.. like a nerve ending twitching. SO painful but only lasts 10 secs or so. So having a few promising symptoms but still only on CD22.. when could I legit test to get a reliable response?

Kathrino · 20/01/2017 13:28

Good news on the clear tubes pyjamas and I hope it's done the trick of kick starting everything moving just in time for FW!

Flashinthepan · 20/01/2017 13:44

Anyone else think Mons Pubis sounds like the the name of an upper class toff? "Your Majesty, this is Mons Pubis the 4th".

GimbleInTheWabe · 20/01/2017 13:49

Ahaha flash it really does!
Mons Pubis of Buckingham, 'tis a pleasure to be of your acquaintance. Please meet my daughter Labia Majora.

sk1pper · 20/01/2017 13:52

Oh my god, stop I'm dying here... Grin

Musicgrrl · 20/01/2017 14:09

Hi everyone, I haven't posted yet on this thread as I keep almost getting caught up and then falling way behind again but rest assured I am still here!

I'm music. Had been on this thread for a while and then got my BFP on cycle 6 and am now 10 weeks with a blob that is apparently now the size of a date or a Lego man! (There are some great size comparisons out there for each week).

Have been having all the expected anxiety especially as I haven't had many symptoms but had an early scan at 8 weeks and saw bean with heartbeat and then got a quick glimpse at a consultant appointment yesterday too and it's definitely still there!

I just wanted to let you know that I'm still lurking and cheering you all on towards your BFPs Smile

Also, hi to all the newbies!

Flashinthepan · 20/01/2017 14:12

Haha Gimble nice one! Glad I'm not the only one that went that route!

Hi Music congrats on the little lego man/woman you are incubating! And yay to a healthy bean and not too many horrible symptoms. That is the dream!

GimbleInTheWabe · 20/01/2017 14:59

Hi Music congrats on your lego baby! Smile

Starfish33 · 20/01/2017 15:08

PJs - hope you picked up my post. I accidentally posted it in another thread and have decided to stay loyal to one thread (apart from accidental posting!) for now; this one feels like the right one for me! Smile

Gimble - too funny! Grin Just have to add to this comic relief. I was just contemplating the fact that my mood was relatively good, and realised that it is because I am a few days after ovulation (I think!) and that, at this time I the cycle, there could be a glimmer of hope, hence my positivity. In doing so, without even thinking about it, I sang out loud to the tune of Take That's Could It Be Magic, "Could I be pregnant now?"?! (Luckily I'm working at home today!) This TTC stuff - I'm conscious of it, subconscious of it; it is a dominant force!

Just a quick question, as mentioned earlier, I'm CD12 of cycle (ovulated on CD10) - do most of you not drink in case you might have caught? AF seems so far away and was contemplating a glass of wine tonight with DH. Not a big drinker, just fancied a Friday night cheeky glass but just can't decided whether to or not...?

Hey Music, congratulations - fab news! x

HepKestrel · 20/01/2017 15:15

star can't speak for others, but i will have the odd glass of wine in the tww. its too early to do any damage, and I would rather keep my stress as low as possible.

macsworth · 20/01/2017 15:43

Star totally got that stuck in my head now, with your lyrics!

It was either on this thread or maybe somewhere else I was looking where someone said their fertility consultant had told them they can drink like a they're European not like they're British. In other words, a glass of wine is fine but stay off the all night binges!

sk1pper · 20/01/2017 16:05

Star - as others have said, the egg wouldn't be absorbing your nutrients yet so IMO it's okay to have one or two drinks. But don't get wasted, your body undergoes massive changes in early pregnancy and it doesnt need a hangover to content with too. Just be sensible and enjoy life!

Just read back a few pages and saw what EJ had to go through at the GPS. Just reading it has got me all riled up. EJ - you've been given a ton of advice already so nothing more to add, other than dont give up - the NHS will try and blow people off all the time because they are swamped, but you pay for this service with your taxes so make sure you get out what you put in.

Miranda234 · 20/01/2017 16:23

Hahaha you ladies crack me up Grin

Glad all went well today pyjamas fx you'll get your BFP soon.

That's great news music glad all is well with you and baby Smile

Fx to you mouse for your scan tomorrow

Londonjam · 20/01/2017 16:28

flash hope you get your positive OPK. They are so frigging satisfying. Mine has gone negative now, so I reckon egg is here. Hope it's not got lost in the great fallopian - uterus void

peaches I have a tilted uterus too and wonder whether it makes things tougher for the sperm. I would vary the position to try to help, but DH much much prefers me on top. I have also read that advice re orgasms! Happy to go along with that ;)

Sorry you’re having a crap day kathrino not long now until pens down and time for Friday evening maybe with a little glass of vino

WELL DONE pyjamas that sounds really uncomfortable and you did really well. Fingers tightly crossed that you have beautiful clear tubes ready for free flowing sperm to zoom to the next egg.

Glad you are feeling brighter skipper

gimble I use wet wipes all the time – they are so much more hygienic, I don’t feel I get properly clean with regular toilet tissue

Hello music so pleased to hear everything is going well! We miss you!
starfish I have the odd glass or two but not much more than that

Pugmummy87 · 20/01/2017 17:18

I had to laugh at the mons pubis sounding posh. Reminds me of when I was doing my midwifery training in my first year and we were doing all the anatomy and our lecturer pointed to a diagram of a vulva and asked us to name all the different parts. Someone shouted out "that's the lady majoria" when pointing at the labia majoria. Cue the entire class wetting ourselves laughing and us constantly asking the poor girl how 'lady majoria' was today. Thankfully she realised her mistake and took it all in good humour.

Thank you for all your well wishes, you lot are lovely Halo

mac I'm glad to hear your brother is continuing to improve.

pyjamas excellent news on the hsg, hopefully it's cleared out any debris from your right tube and you'll get that bfp very soon!

music so pleased to hear you have seen your little lego man/woman on scan!

sta I'm not a huge drinker anyway, so can sometimes go a month or so without alcohol, but if I fancy a drink in the tww, I will have some, although I try not to go crazy and have no more than 2.

jam fx your egg is having a good meet and greet with some friendly sperm!

Anyone have any plans tonight? I have an exciting night with a glass of prosecco and crap tv whilst the dogs snooze on me planned.

Starfish33 · 20/01/2017 17:38

Thanks for the thoughts re. alcohol, folks ( Jam, Sk1pper, Hep); looking forward to a glass of Prosecco too, Pug. Think it's a night in for us - can't wait for these dark, January nights to pass, they make snuggling on the sofa an attractive thought!

Oops, sorry to set you off, Macs - just had to share!

Logging off for now but will look forward to catching up with news over the weekend. Wishing you all a good one, and well done to you all whatever you're dealing with - you are very strong women and we will get what we want/need. PMA and baby dust x

sk1pper · 20/01/2017 17:41

I'm having a fuck it night, the local Nepalese and maybe a glass or two of wine.

I'm thinking of maintaining the bus list now FxSkip has graduated, do you want to post your AF dates and cycle no. and I'll compile it sometime tomorrow.
