Thread 24. TTC #1 - It's been a tough start to the year but 2017 is still the year of the BFP

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

It's not been the best start of the year for most but we're still trying to keep it PMA Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Hi all.

Just checking in seeing how everyone is.

OrangeCloud18 · 19/01/2017 20:55

EJ My main symptom is stabbing pain, where I cannot move and contractions, like proper hellish I feel like my back wants to get out through my bum-my uterus is being squeezed-I need to push ones. I am either curled up in a ball or folded in half trying to breathe. I guess it will make giving birth easier ? One can only hope!
When I have my period I am also constipated, farting hurts really bad and I feel like someone is cutting me with a knife when I pee. I also feel pulling in my lower abdomen.
I am in so much pain during my periods that usually the week after I am completely out of energy and am sleeping for hours on end.
The other on and off symptoms : migraines (apparently could be related), bloating, heavy legs and leg pain, stabbing in the hips, nausea, tiredness.
I get on and off symptoms during my cycle but the worse is during my periods.

Hope this helps EJ ! That's what I could think of right now. Feel free to MP me if you want to talk about it!

Kathrino · 19/01/2017 21:00

Glad to hear you're doing okay pug, I'm so in awe of how strong you have been.

Tonks87 · 19/01/2017 21:15

It's been a super busy day on here, I'm struggling to keep up!

I'm on CD11 today and got a surprise positive OPK this evening (backed up with a CB smiley). A bit sooner than I was expecting as only DTD once so far!

Flowers Miranda but fab PMA.

I get more symptoms in the run up to ov than any other time Flash. Sore boobs, spots around my jaw, bloating, a niggling pain both sides, the lot!

Congratulations presh! Lovely news for the thread!

Everything crossed for you mouse. Hope you're not too worried.

Mac why do you only take your vitamin b complex after ovulation? I've been a bit worried about my B12 levels so I've been taking B-complex with B12 since just before AF - is this bad?

Alexia and Pug I'm glad you're both doing better.

Pyjamas a night of blowing off steam sounds good. The unexpected nights out are always the best. Sorry about your wallet though!

I definitely echo what others have said EJ. Trust your gut feeling, we have them for a reason. If you know something isn't right, persevere with your doctor.

Sorry if I've missed anyone!

Pyjamas81 · 19/01/2017 21:25

I just got a call from the bar I was at tonks- they've now found my wallet! Shame I've already cancelled all my cards ha ha.

Just realised one of the medications I have to take before my HSG tomorrow is a suppository- great 😒

CD 5

Thanks for sorting the new thread Smile

HepKestrel · 19/01/2017 22:06

welcome Claire

kwick · 19/01/2017 22:09

wingingit I hate cayenne pepper - so what I did was take a spoonful of yogurt and put a shed load of cayenne pepper on top and downed in one. Then followed by loads of water.

Too tired to catch up further - hasta manana

CarleyColie · 19/01/2017 22:23

Wow, so much to catch up on!

Peachy - I am a terrible planner so not sure how my wedding actually came together Grin. Do you have a wedding planning file/book? I found that really handy for keeping the details of everything/everyone in one place.

Congrats on your BFP Presh, hope you're well!

EJ, sorry to hear you're having a bad time atm :( I was diagnosed with endometriosis last year, one of my symptoms was rectal bleeding (only when I had AF though). Obviously doesn't mean you also have endo, but it is definitely a symptom that needs to be checked out. My main symptom was irregular bleeding throughout my cycle, and my periods started to get more painful (cramps and rectal pain). It's so horrible having symptoms like those and not knowing why. I really hope your next appointment is better

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit brighter pug, take care of yourself.

WingingIt83 · 20/01/2017 06:52

kwick that's hardcore!

tonks b6 is good for lengthening a short luteal hence why taking it after ovulation but if taking a b-complex you'll be fine taking it all cycle.

Baby bombed last night by a close friend who I never thought even wanted kids -there goes my happy cycle Confused

Hopefulbunny · 20/01/2017 07:30

Hope HSG goes well pyjamas , do you have to have a general?

Make sure you treat yourself after, hopefully you will have a BFP soon!

Hi to everyone else hope you all okay 😊

Pyjamas81 · 20/01/2017 08:20

Thanks hopeful - pretty nervous! I go in at 10.30. No general - have to take strong neurofen an hour or two before and antibiotics. Fun fun!

Kathrino · 20/01/2017 08:31

Good luck today pyjamas, I hope it goes well and isn't too uncomfortable.

Sorry for the baby bomb Winging Flowers

Londonjam · 20/01/2017 08:40

Happy Friday girls Brew

Hello pug glad you're slowly starting to feel better, and that you were signed off work to give you that time you need. Hope you keep getting stronger 💐

Interesting others only have O pain on one side!

Tonks sounds like you got in there in good time, hope fw going to plan

Sorry about the baby bomb winging your time will come I'm sure

Good luck pyjamas let us know how it goes

Got my +OPK Wednesday so think will have ovulated by now. I had nearly constant O pain yesterday so something going on. We have DTD daily since Tuesday so I think it's fair to say there are plenty of swimmers to meet and greet.

I love feeling like we've done everything we can but don't want to get my hopes up as it will undoubtedly be AF in two weeks. The descent begins..,

Flashinthepan · 20/01/2017 08:50

Morning ladies! It's frosty Friday, which looks pretty but is cold...brrrr.

Good luck pyjamas, hope it's not too uncomfortable. Sorry I can't remember but can I ask if there's a specific reason you're having it or if it's just part of a range of tests you're having?

DTD last night, EWCM and (I think) watery CM yesterday and today, but temps still low so fingers crossed I'm hitting the right days, more FXLS for me tonight!

Also, drawing on your collective wisdom, does it really matter if you get up pretty much straight away and "clean up" or should I be lying down for X amount of time after?

Londonjam · 20/01/2017 08:59

Flash I lie down for at least 10 minutes to give them a fighting chance to swim up. I also stick a cushion under my bum and tilt my hips up. Anything to help now! Are you keeping up OPK s?

Starfish33 · 20/01/2017 09:06

Morning folks.

Thanks Hep, Kathrino, Binky, Alexia and Jam (Jam, so much love for your sentence: "Also remember sperm can live inside us for up to five days in our fertile period as we are magical creatures Smile", it gave me a little hopeful lift!)

So we DTD on CD 8 and 10 and I think I ovulated on CD 12. On CD 14, so I guess I'm heading into the wait, so will keep following the thread and will be in touch with y'all either way. Fingers crossed!

EJ, Pyjamas, Pug - thinking of you, ladies x

macsworth · 20/01/2017 09:25

flash I think scientifically, the sperm delivery is at such a speed that it should go straight to where is needs to go but I think the consensus is that lying down doesn't do any harm! I'm the same as london and lie down for about 10 mins, sometimes stick my legs in the air. My DH is a bit of a dawdler so I'm guessing his little guys might be too so I want to give them a chance to get to their destinations.

tonks I take it after Ov to help with luteal phase. I hate the smell of it and can't cope with taking it all cycle long! Plus it's not good to take high doses of B6 long term so I like to give myself a break but I think that's just me being over cautious!
london I take Holland and Barrett Busy B which has vitamin C with it. I think I'm just over sensitive to the smell.

EJ so sorry you've had such an awful experience. You'd think doctors had got passed labelling us as worrying women by now! Sounds like some great advice from people of here. Let us know when your next appointment is and we'll all turn up!

Good luck today PJ

Nice to have you both back pug and alexia. You're both so amazingly strong!

Brother is up and down at the mo, it's going to be a very long road to recovery.

AF due this weekend I think. No idea about symptoms as my mind has been on other things but feeling a bit crampy today. Cramps are so inconsistent for me that this doesn't tell me anything.

WingingIt83 · 20/01/2017 09:36

I'm another who sticks a pillow under and stays horizontal for about 20mins after. I know I'm theory it shouldnt matter but going to the loo straight after and seeing a load of dunk drop out (sorry tmi!) makes the exercise seem pointless Grin

HepKestrel · 20/01/2017 09:41

starfish looks like you have great timing for your dtd.

I like to think of them as rolls of the dice. no guarantees about anything, but the more times you roll the dice in FW, the luckier you are bound to be. I have another 7 days before FW .

Am feeling pretty good today -generally.
Work is busy but good. house is tidy (always helps me). and am enjoying running. Have pilates at lunchtime, so that always makes me feel good (after!)- not necessarily during the dreaded plank.

Friends are planning a weekend away in the autumn with a whole gang of us which will be a blast.

And i have not had any major anxiety for the last few days (tiny wobble weds,).

Flashinthepan · 20/01/2017 10:03

Jam yes still OPKing, nothing last night, faint line this morning, hoping this afternoon if I don't drink too much that I'll see something when I text again. Hoping to DTD as much as poss until the temp goes up and stays up. I'm feeling really positive at the mo. Not that I will get pregnant this month, but that it will happen at some point and it will be healthy. I think I just needed to go through the crazy to get to the other side.

Ok, so I'm going to stay lying down for a bit, as normally I sort of leap, with tissue clutched, and run for it!

Hep glad you're feeling positive, like you a tidy house and exercise help me so much to feel better.

Mac sorry to hear things are still bumpy with your brother.

Flashinthepan · 20/01/2017 10:04

Test again, not text again.

Peaches8Posies · 20/01/2017 10:17

Morning ladies.

wing they say the stuff that comes out are the duds so to speak, the ones that aren't strong enough anyway. But yeh, it's rather deflating.

I always try and stay lying down were possible. Have tried the pillow under my bum too. I have a tilted uterus, always have to push my bum up for my smear or any internal stuff. Makes me wonder if the swimmers are facing a bit of a battle Hmm but they got there before so no need to doubt they won't get there again.

pyjamas I Hope everything goes smoothly. Fx you feel good to go asap and get some nicely timed dtd in Smile

hep its good to have nice things to look forward to Smile

Still not trusting the boobs. They have been really quite sensitive the last few cycles but it is soo deflating (emotionally and literally) when they become less so and you know af is right around the corner. I've also realised that I've made a date to meet my friend and her wee one when af is due Confused. If af rocks up on the day I'm sitting cradling a little baby I might just end up bubbling on the poor wee thing Sad. What a wally! Anyway, meeting OH this evening in town. No drinks but hopefully some nice food and quality time together Grin. Hope everyones day go nice and quickly WineBrewGrin

Peaches8Posies · 20/01/2017 10:21

Oh, I forgot to say. I read that in order to help the swimmers get up where they need to be, women should have an orgasm after the man. We contract when we do and this is mother nature's way of moving them up to the right place. I though maybe it would flush them out a bit Hmm. So girls, in this case it's not ladies first Grin

Kathrino · 20/01/2017 10:57

I can only cope with lying there for a couple of minutes (usually while DH goes to clean up in the bathroom) because it just feels so gross. I think because we've only every used condoms which keep everything nice and tidy, I can't get my head round all the gunk involved.

Jam, sounds like you've given it a great shot this month. Keeping everything crossed for you as you enter the TWW now! Good luck for the others (star, Flash and anyone else) at that stage too. I'm hoping for lots of BFPs this cycle.

macs, thinking of you and your family Flowers

Ugh, can't wait for the weekend. Feeling a bit stressed/miserable today (not connected to TTC really). Due to ovulate on Monday though so will try and chill out as much as possible.
