Thread 24. TTC #1 - It's been a tough start to the year but 2017 is still the year of the BFP

AlexiaB · 15/01/2017 13:57

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

It's not been the best start of the year for most but we're still trying to keep it PMA Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

flash get those legs spread!!!! Blush

presh amazeballs news!!!! Star Star Star Stay on the thread though!!!! Jesus I hope you guys don't think I am baby bombing?

MouseLove please keep us posted. Keeping everything crossed for you and littlemouse

Hmm jam I may just stick to Face Yoga Grin No seriously I probably need to start off real slow as I have not done any yoga since before my MC.

Flashinthepan · 19/01/2017 10:51

Haha thanks Kwick! What a treat for DH! Although I did have my bikini wax last week so I've done my bit!

I wondered if it might be something to do with ovulation Jam. I get a lot more symptoms of OV since my ectopic, including the weird pains, which I never felt before in my life! I'm hoping the extra symptoms might be an indication of stronger ovulation with my new acupuncture/healthy living/PMA.

Ooo and I'm starting yoga next week! God, I just reread all that and I think I'm going to either end up pregnant or end up resembling one of those annoying raw food "lifestyle" bloggers with legs the size of my arm!

WingingIt83 · 19/01/2017 10:52

Hi all, been reading but don't always have time to post plus trying to look on MN only every few days

Congrats presh and miw!

I've had my redone day 21 bloods this morning and DH off to create this afternoon for his SA. Here's hoping it's all a waste of time!

Been trying to follow some of kwicks good guide -how the hell do I incorporate cayenne pepper into my diet when I hate spicy food? !!

Londonjam · 19/01/2017 11:01

flash I get such significant ovulation pain. It's not pain so much, just more of a niggling, needling feeling. It's only ever on the left hand side - might mention this to the specialist when we go. Know what you mean about the lifestyle changes. Due to TTC I am now a yoga-practising, vitamin-taking beginner ceramicist! Haha.

Fx for your results winging

HepKestrel · 19/01/2017 11:01

OH is trying to get healthy and lose weight...... he has reduced his drinking (fx it lasts), so I am eating healthily. the main thing I am trying this month (as well as continuing with exercise : 2 runs and one pilates/yoga per week) is to drink more water (or milk).

  • I have a tendency to forget.

w5r1 of the c25k this evening.... but I can now run for 5 minutes ! so even though it is taking me closer to 6 months than 9 weeks, i'm getting there !

Miranda234 · 19/01/2017 11:05

Good luck with your scan mouse got everything crossed for you.

Fx this is your cycle Jam

Hope your test results are all good winging.

macsworth · 19/01/2017 11:12

Got everything crossed for you mouse. It's greatly that they're acting quickly for you.

Great text book DTD london. It's so satisfying to see that positive OPK and get it done in good time.

Sorry about AF miranda but great PMA about regular cycles.

Thanks for the info about the yoga. DH and I now have a date with Adrienne tonight. I'll let you know how it goes. DH is not flexible at all so could be amusing!
Thank you so much for your offer about DVDs kwick. If Adrienne and I don't get on, I'll be in touch!

Great work on the running hep

Congratulations presh. Don't feel like you're baby bombing...BFPs on this thread give us all hope. Feel free to hang around for as long as you like!

Alexia, I take a vitamin B complex from Holland and Barrett after ovulation that makes my wretch with the smell! The things we do on the quest for BFP.

Having a lot of trouble keeping my feet warm this TWW! Thick socks, blanket on the sofa and feet against the radiator and they were still like blocks of ice last night!

Starfish33 · 19/01/2017 11:15

Morning TTC-ers and all you lucky and brilliant women who have recently got BFPs!

Congratulations Presh and Miw! Smile

As a relative newbie to TTC, I suppose I'm looking for some advice and reassurance. Started using Clearblue OPK this cycle - had blank cycles on day 8 and day 9, then straight to fixed smiley peak fertility on day 10. DTD on day 8 (low fertility OPK) and day 10 (peak fertility OPK). Thinking this is my fertile week and have been desperate to DTD for the past two night but my DH hasn't been able to finish. I'm now very worried that he feels pressure as he knows that this is the week we should be trying. Selfishly, I felt really upset as I so desperately want to do everything I can to make this the month; the thought of waiting another month is torture! Clearblue says not to do more tests within cycle after getting Peak Fertility, but I haven't been able to help myself. Both yesterday and today have gone back to blank smiley (low fertility)? My cycle is 28/29 days so shouldn't have ovulated yet and am rather confused. I'm hoping we can DTD tonight and that I'll still have a chance this cycle?! DH and I have always had a healthy sex life, but I am now really worried that he may not be able to perform when needs be... Confused

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! x

HepKestrel · 19/01/2017 11:35

starfish you ovulate 1-2 days after the first fixed smiley, so it was probably on the 12th for you. I have ovulated this early before..... Your ovulation day can vary from cycle to cycle - even if you cycle length is stable.

My advice is to relax, and make dtd fun! it is a marathon not a sprint. I personally do not tell OH when exactly I ovulate, jut give him the FW warning.

I would also recommend doing a month of clearblue and IC together as you learn your cycle. It is like comparing digital to analogue information if you like.

If you do not get a bfp this month, do not be disheartened. I will be successful, as you are learning about your cycle.

Starfish33 · 19/01/2017 11:43

Thanks so much, HepKestrel - your post is both informative and reassuring. Just a quick query, what is IC? (Haven't figured out all the abbreviations yet!) x

Kathrino · 19/01/2017 12:23

kwick, Adriene does have some specific videos for pregnant women too if you're worried about starting anything new:

yogawithadriene.vhx.tv/prenatal-yoga (if that link works...)

Starfish, I think hep has given some good advice. I don't put too much pressure on DH either. The stats show that there's not much difference in conception rates on the day of ovulation vs 1/2 days before.

Excellent work on DTD jam, I might start OPKing today just for fun!

Flashinthepan · 19/01/2017 12:34

That's why I'm doing it Kathrino I'm sort of viewing it as a fascinating insight into how my body works, which helps make it feel less stressful and more productive.

HepKestrel · 19/01/2017 12:43

starfish IC = internet cheapies. i.e. the opk strips:
www.amazon.co.uk/One-Step-Sensitive-Ovulation-Fertility/dp/B001G7P62S

instead of seeing smile vs. no smile .... you can see the test line darken as you approach the peak in your LH hormone.

you can't use these first thing in the morning though.

GimbleInTheWabe · 19/01/2017 13:01

Afternoon ladies!

I'm also on a health kick to help with all this TTCing. I went swimming yesterday! Haven't gone in years, was worried the water would be freezing but actually it was lovely. Here in crystal palace we have an olympic size pool so its was 11 50m lengths for me. Felt reet smug afterwards.
My DP is really caring but very straight talking too. He had the cheek to call me 'selfish' the other day for not taking my health/exercise seriously enough (I have been pretty rubbish on it tbh). He apologised the day after and called himself a moody bastard but still.

I'm on CD21 of 28 now.. have had a few "symptoms": nausea before bed a few times and threw up in the night, also had light cramping pretty much every day. Not had any sore boobs or anything else. Have a feeling it'll be a BFN this month but will wait and see. When is it okay to test? I know the best time is after AF is due but is doing any sooner going to give an accurate response? I have a 'how many weeks' test in my drawer that I'm saving for when I know It'll be a BFP... Is that really sad of me?!

Londonjam · 19/01/2017 13:04

That's exactly how I see OPKs, it is a reminder how amazing the human body is and a kind of science experiment. I asked DH about temping last night and he was so dismissive e.g. NO I wouldn't do that, why would you do that? It'll stress you out even more... which is probably true but I really wanted him to think about it from my POV and from a scientific POV as if this were some kind of science experiment! He likes all the facts in life so thought he might show some interest!

starfish to echo hep keep it nice and chilled and enjoyable. For people doing it for a looong time it can become stressful, but in the beginning please try and relax. The official advice from GPs / specialists is to have sex every 2-3 days throughout the cycle. Also remember sperm can live inside us for up to five days in our fertile period as we are magical creatures :)

Another really positive OPK over here today, and lots of ovulation niggles. Do you guys get these on both sides, or does it just tend to be one? Mine is always, always the left..

WingingIt83 · 19/01/2017 13:05

hep good job on the c25k. I'm starting r1 of wk2 tonight, took 3 weeks to do wk1 due to Ny and illness!

harrietm87 · 19/01/2017 13:13

hep that's great with your running! I did c25k a few years ago and went from only being able to run for about a minute to now doing Parkrun (almost) every week with some pretty fast times (I think they're fast anyway!) some 10ks and now thinking about half marathon.

There's one I'd like to do in May. I wasn't going to sign up in case pg but realised no point putting life on hold etc so going to go for it I think.

MouseLove · 19/01/2017 13:17

Thank you for your well wishes. It's been a hectic morning. Dr was fantastic again. He's arranged for me to have an early scan on Saturday at 8am to make sure everything is ok with baby. I'll be 7+5. They have escalated my thyroid issue with the specialist and have given me medication to take in the meantime while I wait for my appointment in the next week or so. Currently trying to keep calm. Work have been fantastic but they obviously don't know I'm pregnant so I think I might have to let them know tomorrow.
Thanks ladies. Really means so much. X

AlexiaB · 19/01/2017 13:41

Thanks for speaking up Gimble Grin Glad I'm not the only one! I showed my DH your reply to prove I wasn't overreacting haha! I might drop down to one a day now too. I'm already taking a high dose of b vitamin for my LP so I don't want to overdose. My pee is constantly neon Blush

Hi Peaches Flowers I'm doing better now thanks lovey. It's crazy how are hormones fluctuate so much isn't it? At the time I never thought I'd get over it but with time the pain has eased. I haven't thought about ttc much at all and I'm now gearing up for the FW (CD8) so my focus is on that. Each new cycle brings fresh hope, it's just hard to see it at the time!

Vodafone are the worst and most frustrating company ever! When I was a student they gave me a free £5 game and £5 music download with my new contract. I didn't even want it! They then proceeded to charge me £10 for the next God knows how many months without me realising. In the end they owed me about £130 and I was literally screaming on the phone for hours to get my money back. I then realised they'd regularly overcharged my contract each month too! It's almost like they do it so if the customer doesn't notice, they win! I switched to Three and have never had any problems.

kwick you're not baby-bombing! I missed you too!!!

Sorry about AF Miranda Flowers Great PMA!

Flash I input a positive opk on FF if the line is as dark or darker than the control line. If it's not, then I select negative.

Mouse hoping with everything I have that you get good news today at your scan. Thinking of you Flowers❤️

EJ sorry you've been feeling so down Flowers Moan all you like here because it really does help to talk about how you're feeling. These girls are amazing and will always listen. You will feel better soon xx

Jam I only get left O pain too! I don't know if it was here or on FF that I read it but the ovaries are not exactly situated left and right like the anatomy pictures have you believe, they're much closer together, so it's nothing to worry about apparently. I was worried too! Always worth asking for another opinion at your appointment though. Yay for the positive OPK Star

Not done yet but will continue later...

Flashinthepan · 19/01/2017 13:51

Jam do you get it every month, or just the months you do get it is on your right (if you see what I mean)?

For the first time in ages last month I felt OV pain on my left but mostly I feel it on the right, or not at all. On months when I've not felt it, I've still seen a temp rise etc so think I've still ovulated so maybe my left is more serene about the whole thing!

I think someone was saying about tracking which side you ovulate from (maybe it was on a different thread, not sure) but do you just do that by monitoring pains etc or is there actually a way of knowing which side?

Pyjamas81 · 19/01/2017 13:55

This thread is so quick - have a bit of a hangover today, so haven't been able to keep up! Am an idiot - went out (unplanned) and got ever so slightly lashed and lost my wallet. What a pile of poo. So woke up feeling like shit, guilty for drinking All The Booze (fertile week starts on Saturday) and no wallet. What an idiot. Feel better after blowing off some steam though.

I always get ov pain on the right side!

Hope everything is ok mouse and fx for good news.

My DH is interested in all the science behind it as well jam he draws the line at talking about CM though! Too far ha ha.

Really glad you're doing better Alexia - you're right - fresh cycle = fresh hope Smile

Kaydee2017 · 19/01/2017 14:00

I am the same as you winging, this thread moves so fast!! Fx for your results too!

Congratulations on the BFP presh Grin

Sorry about AF Miranda but you've got a really good PMA about it!

Symptoms between AF & FW sounds naff flash & Kathrino, but I do think you're onto something flash, the amount of things I notice now that I wonder whether they happened before is huge, and of course it all has to have some sort of hidden TTC meaning for me Hmm
*
EJ* just adding - definitely go to the docs, and don't take no for an answer Grin

Fx for Saturday mouse, hope all is well for you little bean!

Fx this month is your month jam after your well timed DTD! I am just approaching start of FW so so far this week I have been trying to catch up on, and get extra, sleep!

Fx for all!!

Kaydee2017 · 19/01/2017 14:03

Alexia - x posted with you! Glad you are doing better! Enjoy FW!!

harrietm87 · 19/01/2017 14:06

Ah mouse missed your post earlier - hoping all goes well for you.

Londonjam · 19/01/2017 14:16

"Each new cycle brings fresh hope, it's just hard to see it at the time! "

alexia I feel like a truer word was never spoken. This is my new TTC mantra! That is v interesting re. the ovaries - I never knew that. Also thanks for my OPK star :)

flash I get it every month and always on the left. I have no idea if you can tell which one releases it each month - I think I read they take it in turns, which seems fair, but my left one is doing overtime!

pyjamas good work I almost feel a bit envious! Hope you had a lot of fun. Sorry about your wallet though. Oh god and no I couldn't imagine talking CM with DH haha!

Thanks kaydee its such a feeling of satisfaction knowing you are doing everything you can. I just wish it would bloody pay off!

Here is hoping.
