Thread 23. TTC #1 - New Year, New Opportunities. Let's keep those BFPs rolling in!

AlexiaB · 02/01/2017 16:29

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

Happy New Year! It's 2017 and it's OUR year Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Not sure yet jam. Will find out at our first appt if it's an option! Fingers X

geeup · 13/01/2017 19:38

Yes sounds like a LOT skipper. And my office loo is miles away!

kwick · 13/01/2017 19:41

Haha sk1pper sorry if all the cake has given you indigestion!! So like me to heal all recognition on one person (have this issue at work!) but defo was not sympathy!!! You are an amazeballs woman and deserve all the cake I can bake!!!
A pyramid scheme indeed? Wink so wish that was true... already beginning to panic about how I will cope financially - but this so much more important than having a goid credit score (not that I have one of those now!).

Hmmm harriet it does sound a tad extreme but are you able to have:

  • sweet potatoes
  • avocados
  • oily fish
  • leafy greens
-eggs
  • dairy
PM me your email address and I will send you what I got from my FC nutritionist.

kathrino the baseline scan (cd1, 2 or 3) is not that nice... but remember that the Drs do many everyday and will not be fazed.
Oooooh CRGH you say!!!! In London? Who did you see? Dr Atluri is my consultant. Most there are VERY nice. They get very busy and are pricey but they know what they are doing.

geeup is that Lister? You have made my day!!! milk is good!!! You are so going to be preggers in the wink of an eye.

Kathrino · 13/01/2017 19:50

Gee, good news about the appointment. I probably drink 2 litres of water a day already but am not that keen on the idea of milk. Could you eat the equivalent amount of ice cream or cheese? ;)

Kwick, I saw Dr Seshadri. She was very nice. The alternative available appointment they offered was with with Dr Atluri but the timing didn't work for me. They seemed relatively efficient (if busy, as you say) and I came away from the appt feeling quite confident about what they could do for us. Just keeping everything crossed...

kwick · 13/01/2017 20:15

kathrino I am so excited we are at the same clinic!!!! Even though hopefully I only have 2 more visits there!

Ladies I am sooooooo hankering after a bath!!!!! So cold and just want to wallow in lovely smelling water... flipping "risk of infection"!

Londonjam · 13/01/2017 20:24

Kwick would a warm shower with some lovely smellies then dressing gown suffice? I want your diet recommends but cannot dm on the app Envy

Kathrino did she say anything about how long you'd been trying, did she think it was normal or a concern or anything? I find it hard to get perspective as to me 14 cycles feels soooooooooooooooo long and like I'm totally barren / no hope - but other places you see people say 1-2 years TTC is normal or not uncommon Confused

Feeling saintly this evening. Came home unrolled yoga mat and did day one of yoga with Adrienne. Is wonderful. Cat stared at me like 😾😼🙀 all the way through it haha. Had chicken, aubergine ratatouille and sweet potato wedges for dinner, NO WINE and now relaxing with Jamie and Jimmys Friday night thing 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

geeup · 13/01/2017 20:29

Also absolutely no disrespect and sorry to contradict whoever's consultant said no alcohol at all but apparently I've read online that my IVF clinic said a small amount (only up to 5 units a week) is ok if you want, as it's important to keep living your life - you could be in this phase of your life for a long time (but obviously hope not!).
Totally a personal decision - if you're happy to give up, give up, but there's no evidence you need to so don't if it stresses you out and unrelaxing. I enjoy a small glass with my husband once a week and don't feel guilty personally.

Pyjamas81 · 13/01/2017 20:51

Ha ha kwick - I'm mightily pissed off with my Womble as well! Now no pink cm - I either want to wake up to no AF or a bfp or AF immediately to be put out of my misery and I can get on with our planned fuck it day!

Thanks London and kathrino Smile

Waiting until tomorrow to test Harriet as that's when am due - the pink CM/light spotting has caught me off guard at the end of what has been a totally symptom free TWW as I've never spotted before! I hate the TWW!

I'm always so happy when people cancel! Such a hermit ha ha. Went for a half pint and glass (restraint - growth) of wine with DH tonight and we're already home in our pyjamas - rock n roll.

Interesting about the milk gee - I wonder if that's calcium intake and could be obtained from other sources like calcium fortified milk? Trying desperately to find other sources as hate milk ha ha

Kathrino · 13/01/2017 20:56

Gee, I totally agree with you about alcohol. The consultant said it was guidance put out by the Royal College of Gynaecology last year to bring the UK in line with the US. I think that kind of guidance is generally because they don't trust women to be able to moderate their drinking rather than based on any kind of science. We're doing dry Jan because we had quite a boozy Christmas and I'm not a huge drinker anyway but I don't see anything wrong with it at all.

Jam, she didn't seem particularly phased by the 14 cycles or think it was a big deal at all. I've also had a number of conversations recently with people who've said that it took them a couple of years to conceive for no apparent reason which is always reassuring to hear especially when everyone seems to be getting pregnant in their first month of trying. Also, I have a total girl crush on Adriene. I've managed to keep up this year and did Day 13 earlier. She's the best ❤

We've just had a note through our door saying some kind of plumbing emergency has meant they've had to turn off the central heating in our building. Might need a double duvet tonight!

kwick · 13/01/2017 21:02

I know it is a pain jam just PM when you can. I used to be able to get to my inbox from app - but either I have forgotten or they have changed it.
Shower not same thing at all... but thanks for trying.
Well done for getting on mat jam.
I too was watching J & J... have craving for black pudding now!!! In Spain they make a lovely type with rice = Morcilla de Burgos = yummy!!!

Kaydee2017 · 13/01/2017 21:39

Just catching up quickly.

Thanks for the book recommendation kwick! Think I may be spending my Saturday AM on amazon!! And also looking into vitamins! Whilst having a lay in, obviously Grin

Jam a date with your cat TOTALLY counts!!

Hoping you get your answer tomorrow morning pyjamas, though obviously massive fx it's a BFP!!

Hope everyone is having a good Friday evening Smile

Londonjam · 13/01/2017 21:55

Pyjamas break up banana and bag in the freezer. Blend once frozen with cold full fat organic milk and a teaspoon of peanut butter. Fertility shake! Nutri bullet is particularly good for this! Hoping tomorrow brings BFP NOT AF

Kath I heart Adrienne already too. Total babe. Also you know what keeps you warm when the heatings bust... 😉

Kwick I'm into The Crown now first episode, excellent so far

Date with cat going well 😻

HepKestrel · 13/01/2017 22:06

jam looks like a comfy cat Smile

EJ2009 · 13/01/2017 22:17

jam add chia seeds to your shake. I also put raw spinach in that recipe you use.

harrietm87 · 13/01/2017 23:34

london (think it was you who asked!) I'm just doing it as a general detox with my friends. It's a 30 day challenge and then will go back to normal. I eat so much sugar normally I'm hoping to wean myself off that a bit.

kwick yes can have all the things on your list except the dairy (so I can have eggs but not milk, butter, yoghurt, cheese). It seems though that milk is important so maybe I should go back on that?

I'm on cd 7 today so still 9 days to fw. Time seems to be moving slowly! DH away this weekend for work though anyway.

Hope you've all got nice weekend ahead. Fingers crossed for you pyjamas!

Pyjamas81 · 14/01/2017 08:03

Just tested and got a BFN - not even a whisper of a line, and feels like AF is coming. Damnation. Looks like the spotting is just another brand new delight my womb may or may not decide to throw at me each month. Oh well, me and DH have an excellent fuck it day planned and we're going to have ALL the 🍺 tonight. Stupid bastard womb.

kwick · 14/01/2017 08:05

jam I had to binge watch The 👑... and then watched bits again with my mum. Cannot wait for season 2!!

harriet dairy is really important for fertility!!! This is part of what my notes say: stick to milk, cottage cheese and natural or greek yoghurt
I forgot to mention cayenne pepper: this has shown to increase blood flow to the uterus faster than any other food

Another array of strange dreams last night... one where I hooked up with an old flame and there was something about telling him he was not the father... another one where I was at my FC and treatment room was thoroughfare... too much sugar last night maybe!!!

Right breakfast: eggs and avocado!!!

kwick · 14/01/2017 08:06

pyjamas Flowers so sorry

HepKestrel · 14/01/2017 08:32

Sorry pyjamas. Cd29 here, am in that impatient step of waiting for AF who is due anytime now before Wednesday.< drums finger nails on table>

sk1pper · 14/01/2017 09:17

Kwick - aww thanks lovely xx Strange dreams because of sugar or preggo? Or both!

Pyjamas - sorry about your BFN pyjamas, great PMA though. I've cut milk out of my diet and instead I'm drinking coconut milk. I've just been surprised to read it can have as much (or more) calcium than milk, BUT it's high in saturated fat. So you could weigh up your options with that one?

Hep - my AF is due Wednesday too! No idea when I ovulated because I starting get cyst pain way before CD14 (usual ovulation day). It will be a big surprise.

Londonjam · 14/01/2017 10:26

EJ this morning I added frozen spinach and flaxseed 👍🏼

Time going slow for me on day 10 too Harriet although this is the best part of my cycle for hormones / mood 🙂

Sorry pyjamas ☹️ I hate seeing that bfn. Hope you enjoy your F it day

Fx skipper hep and any other testers

I had a vivid dream last night I got a BFP. The lines were wavy at first then went straight. I was trying to take a picture of it to post on here ☹️

sk1pper · 14/01/2017 10:45

Jam - always rubbish when you get a BFP, then wake up. Grr!

I'm waiting for OH to get his shit together so we can go out. Not sure if this is sad or not but I'm trying to make a bit of extra cash for my future baby by selling the the things I don't need on eBay. A clear out is probably a bit premature at this stage but I'm just thinking of all the non essentials I can buy with it, like toys and maybe a baby swing.

Yep I've lost it!

kwick · 14/01/2017 10:52

jam your dream will come true very soon.

sk1pper great idea - I did the same about a year ago... but seem to have reaccumulated! Now I have a list of cupboards I need to go through (wait! Just had a flashback to another dream from last night - where I suddenly had loads more cupboard space!!!) and declutter. I need to be RUTHLESS!!! But I take after my mother and am a hoarder...

Binkybunny13 · 14/01/2017 12:21

Hey all, Busy few days so just trying to catch up (this thread gets so busy!)

Hello new people 👋
Sorry those with BFN/ AF Flowers
Thanks kwick for the PM

I'm off to see friends with babies and one due to pop..if the only other non- mum drops a baby bomb today I think it might break me. We got married around the same time but I've always been the broody one in the group and she's the party one. If I'm last of the group to have my much longed for baby it's going to be even more painful. I know it's not a competition, it's just I thought I'd be a mum years ago and here I am still trying 😞

Kathrino · 14/01/2017 13:56

Sk1pper, we've been doing exactly the same partly to clear some space but also, as you say, to get some extra funds although at this point it's more about cash to pay for private treatment than any baby stuff sadly.

Binky, hope you aren't baby bombed today Flowers

Sorry about your BFN pyjamas. Hope you're enjoying your fuck it day!
