Thread 23. TTC #1 - New Year, New Opportunities. Let's keep those BFPs rolling in!

AlexiaB · 02/01/2017 16:29

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

Happy New Year! It's 2017 and it's OUR year Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Arg sorry guys my phone crashed and I missed a whole page !!

pug Congratulations !!!!!!

Alexia Hoping you get your BFP later today or tomorrow !!

Tonks87 · 06/01/2017 10:17

Hi ladies, do you mind if I join in? I've been lurking for a while so I feel like I know you all already!

Ttc #1
Cycle 3
Age 29
CD26, 10dpo
AF due Sunday 8th (11 day LP)

I came off mycrogynon a couple of cycles before starting to try so that I could track them. They bounced back to normal straight away (albeit a little short) so I was lucky. I've read so many stories of it taking a while so everyone is different.

I started temping about a week ago (so not reliable info for this cycle). But it dropped this morning and with a BFN on an IC this morning and strong pre AF cramps I'm 99% sure this isn't my month.

Congratulations to kwick. You're the reason I got hooked on this thread, I kept checking back to see if you had your BFP! Good luck for today's results.

And congratulations to Alexia and Pug - what fab news!

Good luck to anyone testing soon.

AlexiaB · 06/01/2017 10:19

Flash re your chart: as there's not enough temps pre-O, and no opk either, you have dotted crosshairs which means FF is unsure of O day. I think with the ewcm you charted and the temp jump on cd15 it's likely O happened around cd15/16 which would give you a normal lp. Don't stress just yet, see what your chart looks like next cycle :) The spotting in your lp is a little worrying, was it a lot? Think skipper had a solution to this?

Congratulations pug that's so a line!

AlexiaB · 06/01/2017 10:23

Sooo many lovely posts to reply to, sorry for the double posts.

Ahh I'm overwhelmed at all your lovely comments. What would I do without you all? Grin I don't feel like it's real just yet and I'm still waiting for something to go wrong, like it always does. My chart, no AF and the line combined are quite convincing but I will get you a FRER pic as soon as I possibly can.

geeup thank you lovely. I know how hard it is to wait so long and see others get the one thing you want. I know you'll be joining the grads this year! Keep the faith xx

Welcome Tonks glad you came out of hiding Wink Hope af is not on her way!

I'm okay flash. I'm pretty sad and weepy a lot of the time, but I think its the sadness of losing Gran and being unable to conceive all rolled up in one big shit start to the year. I can't believe its a year since we started trying now. I feel completely overwhelmed by it. We've got our hospital appointment on the 2 March so I'm trying to focus on that, but also slightly worried they will just say "keep trying". It's wearing me down. I'm a pretty positive person usually, so will keep my pecker up xx

Miranda234 · 06/01/2017 10:38

Flowers Jam must be a really hard time at the moment. Fx this cycle is your cycle and you won't need the hospital app after all

GingerHanna · 06/01/2017 10:40

Newbie to mumsnet here... go gentle eh? Wink

AF Sunday 15th

I had a miscarriage at six weeks in December 2015 (just a few months after moving to the Netherlands). I fell pregnant directly after taking out my IUD which was a surprise (I had it for about eight years) but unfortunately lost her a week after we found out I was pregnant.

We've held off starting to try again, as we bought a house and have been renovating so wanted to make it more of a home and less of a construction site before we tried for the biggest of projects!

Huge congratulations to bugs and AlexiaB and sorry to hear the news Londonjam.

ns1348 · 06/01/2017 10:41

Hi all,

Wow, today is such an exciting day on this thread! Congrats Pug!

And Alexia your line looks promising: fingers crossed it's stronger and clearer tomorrow with an FRER if you can get hold of one.

Look forward to hopefully seeing you both on Grads thread soon.

I POAS again this morning just to check on line as so early still and it's pretty much as strong as the other line now, yey!

Orange, sorry for BFN but there's totally still hope for you this cycle: I got BFN the day before my BFP.

Binkybunny13 · 06/01/2017 10:44

London Flowers you have had a rubbish start to the year but am sure that it will not stay that way. Excellent work trying to look forward to the appointment- I'm an ex-NHSer and I would say go armed with the NICE guidelines and facts, then it's most likely going to be a positive session. E.g. "We've been TTC since X date; in that time we've DTD regularly and used OPKs/ temping/ etc to maximise chances, in addition to taking folic acid, maintain g healthy weights, not smoking etc etc. I've reviewed the NICE guidelines and see that in these cases, the next step is xyz; is that what you would suggest?" Gives them room to give other options that might be relevant to your specific case but shows that you're knowledgeable and responsible.

Good luck- and hey, who knows the BFP might appear once you're distracted looking into the next stage plans? FX for you

Binkybunny13 · 06/01/2017 10:45

Kathrino fx! I might succumb to buying a test today and try tomo if AF still not here (3days late) but not hopeful

FXSkip · 06/01/2017 10:46

flash there is no reason to assume that you will get another ectopic and alexia am I right in thinking you've had 2 chemicals? Likewise there is no reason to believe that this will be the same. Congrats are in order, and Pug too - First grads of the new thread!

The grads list has been refreshed due to new thread, so our two grads now make up an average age of 27 and average cycle 18 for the bfps. On the bus the average age is 31 and average cycle is 7. Almost 80% of the bussers are within their first 3 cycles.

Flashinthepan · 06/01/2017 10:48

Welcome Tonks! FX crossed the witch stays away.

I second Alexia, Binky you should test (I just love it when people POAS!)

Thank you for your wisdom Alexia I have no idea what I'm looking at on there. I think I might start doing OPKs from next cycle as that's when we properly start trying again. The spotting is mostly just brownish goo (sorry TMI) sometimes a bit of watery red. But it makes me think that my hormone levels are dropping too soon (just a stab in the dark at a diagnosis!). I have a telephone appointment with the Doctor today, and I'm going to ask if they have any suggestions/can send me for any tests.

I know that its early on, I've only tried/been pregnant once. But I'm so worried I have a fixable problem that won't be fixed and the same thing will happen again.

Peaches8Posies · 06/01/2017 11:01

Busy morning. Wow how busy is the thread!

wing hope your gp is helpful don't let them pass you off! I'm geared up for mine.

kwick fx your work are helpful/open minded. Fx for nice strong results at your clinic too.

sk1p i still have last series recorded I started it on my last bfp Sad can't do the rest of the series. But there's always nice success stories where ladies have faced many bumps in the road. So in some way comforting.

pug alexia YES!!! get those proper tests bought TOADY!!! Wishing you both happy healthy 8/9 month's. You have both waited a long time for your luck to change Grin

kathrino fx the bitch stays away!

flash i know how you feel I'm 90% certain there's something wrong too. I fell really easily last time (cycle 3 but really 1 wasn't a real try so within 2 shots. Not even a hint since!). Really hope we are wrong and over thinking things Flowers

Sorry if I've missed anyone SmileFlowers

Pyjamas81 · 06/01/2017 11:12

Wowee what a busy morning!! This thread is so lucky!!

HUGE congratulations to pug and alexia! I'm seeing definite lines!! Get to Boots for those frers immediately!! What have your symptoms been?

What an exciting day Smile

7dpo here and not a whiff of a symptom- maybe because I'm maybe finally succeeding at disregarding any!

Flashinthepan · 06/01/2017 11:14

I know it's so busy today! It's like we were all drawn by the scent of people POAS! Which sounds gross actually.

Skip I know you're right of course, and just need to keep playing that thought round in my head.

Peaches I totally agree. I think it is the access to so much information. I'm not saying its bad or wrong but it puts a totally different perspective on things, like you can make it happen and if you can't make it happen quick enough or perfect everytime than there must be something wrong with you. But it's impossible not to want to use every tool at your disposal!

Skipper if it was you that had a solution to pre AF spotting I would be forever in your debt if you could reshare it!

Also welcome Ginger!

sk1pper · 06/01/2017 11:32

Pug - oh my god congratulations!!!

Alexia - your definitely preggers, can't you go out and get a FRER now? I can't wait for you to retest.

This thread is insanely lucky at the moment...we're going to have more grads than undergrads soon.

sk1pper · 06/01/2017 11:35

Flash - what colour spotting? I had old blood spotting (brown) which I believe I got rid of with fish oil capsules - one a day. But around the same time I started taking Vitamin E up until ovulation so could be that too.

Peaches8Posies · 06/01/2017 11:49

Yeh flash its a complete catch 22 situation. You desperately want this so you do everything you can to make it so, then feel lost/slight overwhelmed by all the information and start question everything you are doing and taking! But, in the end if there is something wrong/needs sorted out then it's better to get on top of it sooner rather than later I think?

This time last year I was like just have sex a fair bit in the middle of your cycle and it will be fine. Oh the innocence Blush Smile

Flashinthepan · 06/01/2017 11:51

Skipper, mostly just brown mixed with CM (sorry, gross I know). Once or twice when I wipe its been reddish, but watery and light, not like a period. Is it safe to take fish oil/vit e when you're TTC or do you have to stop at certain points?

Londonjam · 06/01/2017 11:53

Thanks binky that's really good advice. I found the last medical appointment wth DH a bit weird and kept quieter than I usually do. It's just a different dynamic somehow with three of you there?! This time I'll make sure I've prepared and got my questions ready. Will let them know how seriously we've been taking it and we've not just been chancing it or messing up the timing for months on end.

Welcome newbies 😊

Flashinthepan · 06/01/2017 11:59

London glad to hear you're okish but sorry that it's such a hard start to your year.

HepKestrel · 06/01/2017 12:11

Welcome tonk and ginger

Ginger CD means cycle-day. There is a page with all the MN acronyms. We have added a few more (lsfx= legs spread, fingers crossed) so don't hesitate to ask!!

WingingIt83 · 06/01/2017 12:18

Get that frer alexia you are so preggers !

Welcome ginger - this is a ttc#1 thread so was your post a typo?

Got baby bombed again today with a 20wk scan. They've had lots of mc's so am happy for them but this staying positive thing is tough!
Dh has booked himself into Create on 19th 3 days after fw so here's hoping it's going to be a wasted £95
