First time TTC - thread five!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 05/12/2016 17:02

Yet again we've managed to exchange nearly 1000 posts swapping our tales of peeing on sticks, dancing for babies, trying to stop Auntie Flo's all too frequent visits, and sometimes, just sometimes, of Big Fat Positives! So let's begin thread five with some updated stats. Me first...

Age 29
Cycle #4
Cycle day 1

Sharl it's awful at the moment - I'm having constant cramps, so tired and in general just cannot be bothered with myself let alone anybody else!

I compared it this morning as similar to having a hangover! Roll on AF so I can feel a little bit more in control

Sharl2017 · 14/12/2016 07:03

I know it's horrible but I'm so pleased it's not just me joanne lol
I keep getting really bad headaches and feeling sick too. Hopefully AF or BFP isn't too far away (we might be one of the lucky ones)Flowers

MouseLove · 14/12/2016 08:39

Ah cerelle is a bitch girls. My first cycle off was 50 days of cramps, pregnancy symptoms, extreme bloating and generally feeling meh. After that first AF it was like a huge weight had lifted off me. Unfortunately I had a short cycle after the long one, and my temps are all over the show so this cycle I ditched everything and just relaxed and let my cycles try to level out. Patience is the key. Try to relax and let your body settle. Try not to pee on too many sticks lol x

Piehunter · 14/12/2016 09:17

I was lucky to have a normal length cycle after coming off Cerelle but I had all the pregnancy symptoms too, the nausea was intense, I was gagging at smells, threw away 2 packs of chicken breasts complaining they were off cos they stank... Nope, just my crazy hormones Blush it's no fun but once first AF arrives it should settle down a bit!

Sharl2017 · 14/12/2016 10:52

mouse that is exactly what I'm like! It's horrible it's not even been a week and it's driving me insane ha!
pie I hope it does settle down asap. I just want my AF haha!
Thank you both for telling me I'm not alone x

Redpony1 · 14/12/2016 11:42

Joanne & Sharl I am the same! Came off Cerelle 9 days now and feel strange. When i ran out a few months ago i had a withdrawal bleed in 4 days, nothing for me yet this time. Mother nature is confusing!

Brainfried1986 · 14/12/2016 11:46

Hi all,

So I've been trying for a baby since April - and came off the pill at the end of March. First off it took 3 months for my period to come back at all, which I wasn't expecting tbh. And since then we've been trying every month, so about 4 viable months.
Today is day 25 of my 30 day cycle, and I'd been feeling a bit off yesterday & had some spotting a few days ago so thought I'd take a test, even tho it's 5 days til my period.
It was positive. And the line was really strong. I honestly don't know what to think!
On the one hand, wow amazing! On the other I'm petrified that there's been some mistake, or that I'll have a miscarriage in the next few weeks, or that my period will still come.
I'm just floundering in a sea of questions and what ifs!

And worse still I can't pick up the phone and talk to anyone about it - I've told my husband, but don't plan on saying anything to anyone else just yet.

I'm waiting for my GP to ring me, but I don't really like him & don't think he'll be great for support or advice...
Anyone got any thoughts to help me?

Thanks
Hannah

Hi Brainfried you can come over to the August 2017 antenatal thread to speak to others in a similar position if it will help you. Try not be too anious or stressed as it won't help the baby.

I'm ok thanks margaret! Pretty anxious as it's still just early days. Don't want to leave the comfort of this thread yet. Blooming weird thing, this. My anxiety has just transferred neatly from worrying about not conceiving to worrying about this ball of cells not sticking around. Probably should have guessed that would happen, I am such a worrier. I half-expect I'll need to be back in this thread in a few weeks. Google is never your friend - while TTC or afterwards Confused

Betcha wish you hadn't asked now! How are you doing?

bliss I'm eagerly anticipating your news too.

Sorry about the Cerelle horror stories girls, it's not something I've ever experienced but sounds awful. Hope all three of you are feeling better soon, and that your cycles even out as a nice Christmas present mouse.

Kirstyinnorway · 14/12/2016 13:01

Oh Margaret's gone! I wasn't talking to myself, honest Shock

user1481197119 · 14/12/2016 13:12

Thank you Lisa - great idea to set up a separate thread for First time TTC...

It's nice to know that we're not the only ones going through this (even though sometimes it feels like it).

I'm 37, nearly 38 / TTC #1 / Cycle 4 / CD 23...

Is it just me, or do the days get longer and seem to last forever the further you are in your cycle?!!!

When does everyone take their pregnancy tests on here? Earlier or later?

Look forward to hearing your thoughts ladies

Good luck everyone xxx

HellsBellsK · 14/12/2016 13:18

Afternoon Girls,

Kirsty I say it is a worrying time - but think positively. You have no reason to think any other way. I know its easier said then done. Google is never your friend - TCC, being pregnant or having a baby.
Think the worry starts when TTC and never leaves!
Stay around for as long as you like Flowers

Nothing to report here. Into week 2 of 2WW can test this day next week.
Trying not to symptom stop - promised myself I wouldn't but its so hard.
So what do I have.. I am really tired all the time, but this could be the time of year. I am self employed and its such a busy time. Also doing a course with an exam next week!
Was in the gym this morning - I was very dizzy and lady I was doing the class with said 'oh your dizzy - thats how I found out I was pregnant last time! '
But trying not to read into that either.. Last one and its TMI - DH takes garlic tablets every day he says they are good for his heart. Anyway he took one Sunday we where in the car and he did a lovely burp - I nearly got sick. I am use to his garlic burps but that sent me over the edge. Then I thought about Kristy and the rabbits. But again not reading into it.

Sorry to the ladies coming off the pill - its a horrible time. Took myself a good 4 months to get everything back to normal!

HellsBellsK · 14/12/2016 13:21

Hi user I missed you with the last post.
I can test next Wednesday if AF doesn't arrive that day - I am going to try and wait for Friday if I last that long. I had a Chemical pregnancy before tested the day my period was due then AF arrived around 3 days late so thats why I like to wait.

What are you thinking? When is AF due?

user1481197119 · 14/12/2016 13:33

Hey thank you HellsBellsK for your prompt reply :)

AF is due next Tuesday... I have clearblue digital tests (x2 in date, x1 out of date - expired Feb 2016 so quite a bit out of date)... I think i can test on sunday at the earliest and I'm debating whether too or not ... my will power is rubbish.... i just want to know.... but then i think maybe i should just wait and be patient.... it's sooooooooooo hard to know what to do

xxxxxxxxxx

Pyjamas81 · 14/12/2016 13:34

Hi everyone - just checking in after big flight yesterday! It's lovely being back with family and a good distraction from the TWWSmile

Sorry to hear about the Cerelle trials and tribulations - I wasn't on Cerelle but has taken nearly 6 months to even out cycles after three years of nexplanon and a short stint on microgynon. Have already told DH am never going on hormonal contraception again!

10 dpo here and temp shot up - but pretty sure that's due to time difference. No other symptoms. I go from thinking there's no chance to 'what if...' on an almost hourly basis! I can test on Monday next week, but am going to wait until Wednesday so DH is here and to give AF a chance to arrive.

Sharl2017 · 14/12/2016 15:16

Fx hellsbells

Felt a lot better today so hopefully my hormones will start calming down now and AF will arrive but ive had a lot of distractions today too so who knows! Emotional rollercoasters are noones friend.. neithers google!

MouseLove · 14/12/2016 15:30

Oh and I'm out this cycle.... scan date for my MRI came through for New Year's Eve so I'm consciously not TTC now. I don't think I've ovulated either. Sad

bassetmum · 14/12/2016 16:20

Oh Mouse I am sorry TTC has to wait but it will be good to get some answers with the other parts of your health. At least you'll be able to have a few glasses of Wine over the festive period.

Sounds like a plan pjs. Fx for you. I have decided I'm never going on hormonal contraception again. I hadn't realised how much it affected my moods.

User you are definitely better off waiting till your af date to test even early hpts are more accurate then too.

Haha hells i am trying not to symptom spot but I am a week post positive opk today and the only major symptoms i am having at the moment is being really hot and sore boobs. I am definitely trying to hold out till Thursday anyway. Although randomly on monday I had some ewcm but with a negative opk and cp of low hard and closed. So who knows what happened then.

Kirstyinnorway · 15/12/2016 06:29

user I tested early this time; only 10DPO. Had a very very faint BFP, but we tried not to get too excited, tested again on 11 and 12DPO and had it confirmed. If you have the right mindset, don't beat yourself up for caving - but only if are prepared to see a BFN and think a) that's Ok, I'll start mentally preparing for the arrival of AF, and b) it may have just been too early to test and I'll try again in a week.

For me, it just bought me a couple of days where I felt vaguely in control (of something we have no control over!) However - as Hells can sadly attest to, testing early can mean you get excited in the very week that is the most dangerous for that little bundle of cells, and you could end up setting yourself up for heartbreak. Overall I think I wish I'd waited to test, I feel very anxious this week.

Really keeping my FX for you hells! I hope those early signs will add up to a mini-hells on Christmas Eve-Eve! Grin Thanks for the kind words and hand-holding Flowers

Agh pjs and basset you guys are all testing around the same time and it's soooo exciting... Really hope we have some Christmassy BFPs! I think your plan is a good one to wait for DH, as hard as it is pjs. Great that you have a distraction from TWW. Have you got anything coming up to take your mind off it basset?

Glad you're feeling a bit better sharl, long may it last.

mouse I'm sorry you have an enforced break. I hope with Christmas you'll be distracted and the wait won't seem as long. A fresh start for 2017 and hopefully an end to your health problems too!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 15/12/2016 07:23

Sorry to hear that you have to pause TTC mouse - but good that the scan is sorted and at least it's not too long to wait?

Lots of people getting close to the end of their TWW - hoping for lots of BFPs!

I am concerned that DH and I might be Doing It Wrong (!). I read last night that you shouldn't have oral sex as part of foreplay when TTC, which I had never heard before. I'm a bit sceptical about how much difference it can possibly be making, but also upset that we are getting baby making wrong!

Hello ladies, I'm new here and wondering whether I can join your thread? I'm 30 and lost my first baby at 17 weeks on October 25th. It broke my heart into a million pieces and I long for another baby again. My first af after the birth was the 1st December and according to my ovulation sticks I ovulated yesterday. However I tested on day 2 whilst af was still here and I got a positive then. I am abit confused lol x

LisaSimpsonsbff · 15/12/2016 08:28

Hi coi. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Of course you can join us - have you also looked at the TTC after miscarriage thread? My understanding is that hormones and cycles can remain irregular for quite a while after the loss, but if you got a positive OPK yesterday that sounds like good news!

Coi123 · 15/12/2016 08:45

Thankyou so much Lisa. Ah I will check that thread out too! Smile

bassetmum · 15/12/2016 08:58

Lisa I read that somewhere to. I have no idea how true it is or not.

I am so sorry for your loss coi. Welcome to our thread.

Well my symptom spotting has gone insane today. Really itchy nipples and I bent down to give puppy her breakfast and I must have done it too quickly ended up having a massive head rush and I had to lie down as it made me feel really sick. Still feeling a bit woosy now Confused
