Yet again we've managed to exchange nearly 1000 posts swapping our tales of peeing on sticks, dancing for babies, trying to stop Auntie Flo's all too frequent visits, and sometimes, just sometimes, of Big Fat Positives! So let's begin thread five with some updated stats. Me first...

Age 29
Cycle #4
Cycle day 1

Could I ask some advice re drinking and testing please?

I am 30 on Wednesday and having a big, boozy, birthday party this eve. I'm CD25 first cycle post pill. I can't remember how long my actual cycles are. No temping or OKPs so don't know if or when I ov'd (think I spotted EWCM around CD16 but could have been leftover semen - ew).

I always intended never to poas until AF was actually late. But I have that little niggly voice in my head that says 'you could be....' and I'm potentially about to drink a load of booze (eyebrows will raise if I decline alcohol on my 30th, I love a drink). However I'd come up with some reason not to, or I'd pretend, if I got a bfp.

Should I test? Can't decide Confused

bassetmum · 21/01/2017 11:32

Urm supper I remember reading somewhere that the placenta doesn't attach till will week 5-6 so you should be okay to have a drink. I wouldn't get wasted though.

Thanks for the ideas. My brain dies completely. Urm I have heard that you can have ewcm at a few times a month. Who knows with our hormones eh!?!

yellowfrontdoor · 21/01/2017 14:34

Hi all! Flowers for AF's and congrats on the BFP!

I've got over a week until my FW, and EVERYONE is pg. Friends in RL, my FB timeline is full of them & at work too.

I want it to be my turn. I'm trying not to get down, but my age (35) freaks me out, my last cycle was 41 days and I had no clue when I ovulated in that time.

Sorry for the whinge, but struggling to stay positive today Sad

DancingUnicorn · 21/01/2017 15:09

Pjs Hope you're feeling ok after yesterday and you're able to enjoy fw! Keeping fx for you!

Basset such a good idea, and do much on your list already. Maybe raise money/volunteer for a fave charity. Learn a (new) musical instrument. Go to a Michelin starred restaurant. Wish I'd done something similar!!

kiwi17 · 21/01/2017 15:15

yellow sorry you're feeling blue. :( im having a bit of a low day myself, not sure when I ovulated this month or whether we even DTD at the right time and now I have an awful cold so don't feel like it anyway... Plus really struggling to stop myself from looking at cute baby clothes and nursery layouts of Pinterest, does anyone have this issue??

yellowfrontdoor · 21/01/2017 15:32

Kiwi yes, Pinterest is the devil! Wink

I too have had the most awful cold/sinusitis thing this week.
I've decided to allow myself a down day today.

Annie1290 · 21/01/2017 19:09

Hi, I'd like to join please.

26, TTC no 1, married in Sept.
Came off the pill beginning of the month after not being very good at remembering it over Xmas, knowing we were going to TTC in Feb/March so just started early!
Previous ectopic June 2014 when not trying.
Trying not to get obsessed but have just ordered some OPK's as realised I have no idea when I ovulated this month if at all, and have never had any clue about my cycle before the pill. Using Ovia to try and help me keep track too.

Pyjamas81 · 21/01/2017 23:50

I've had a colposcopy before kiwi - I'll take that over HSG any day ha ha. I've read it is possible to have ewcm at other times in the cycle - are you tracking ovulation any other way?

I would go ahead and drink supper as it's still so early - but not go nuts which I realise could be difficult if your 30th is anything like my 30th was!

Sorry you're feeling blue yellow 💐

Today was tough - my dad called me - I haven't seen him for 14 years and we hadn't spoken for nearly a year as he didn't even send a text on our wedding day last year. I got a lot off my chest which was good, but I feel emotionally drained, especially after yesterday's fun and games.

In better news - FW has officially kicked off and I'm currently lying here with my knees to me chest under duvet while DH sleeps 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Pyjamas81 · 21/01/2017 23:51

And welcome Annie!

MoonlightMojitos · 22/01/2017 00:18

jene I haven't really had any cravings tbh just when I get a particular thing pop in to my head I have to have it. And I usually have a proper sweet tooth but I've gone off sweet and loving savoury!

pjs so sorry to hear about the crappy time during the test and that it was so uncomfortable but that's great news that all seemed clear in the end. Fx you get your BFP soon then before you have to go down the ivf route. Also glad you got your photo back!

seahawk just checking you know you can have the forbidden cheeses and meats if they're cooked? So baked camembert is fine! And I had chicken wrapped in Parma ham last night.

Hope you had a good birthday party supper!!! I would not worry about drinking so early on at all and you're only 30 once!

Hope everyone else is ok.

kiwi17 · 22/01/2017 09:03

pjs not really, because my cycles don't seem to have any logic to them I'm just kind of guessing and then using the odd opk as well as checking cm. We started out DTD every other day once AF finished but haven't since Monday because I feel so rough :( feel like I've probably wasted this month now... CD21 today... Possibly 6dpo.

Kaydee2017 · 22/01/2017 09:19

Sorry you're having a tough time kiwi! Could you OPK or temp to confirm ovulation? Just for peace of mind & to know you're concentrating DTD efforts around the right time?

Sorry you're not feeling so well too yellow Flowers

Hi Annie! I think the advice from anyone coming off the pill would be to expect a few odd cycles the first few, but definitely track if you can to get to know what's going on - good luck Grin

Hope your 30th was fab supper Wine

Excellent news about FW pyjamas fx with your now super clear tubes this month is yours!!

Kaydee2017 · 22/01/2017 09:26

Sorry about your dad too pyjamas Flowers** glad you managed to get everything off your chest though, & hopefully a good nights sleep!!

Pyjamas81 · 22/01/2017 09:30

You could consider doing what I do kiwi - I only temp from AF until ovulation is picked up then forget about temping altogether! Takes a lot of the stress out of it, doesn't get my hopes up, but gives me the certainty of knowing how many dpo I am and when to expect AF.

Great to 'see' you mojitos! And yes, I am mentally willing my super clear tubes to work this month! Still on low fertility on digi OPK, so sticking to every other day until we get a static smiley so we don't wear ourselves out. Although every other day is a lot for us as well! Can't wait for the week after FW - it's when I'm most relaxed after feeling like we've done everything we could, dtd isn't forced and it's before the crazies set in in the week before AF.

Supper16 · 22/01/2017 09:42

Morning everyone! Thanks for the birthday wishes. Not gonna lie, have a bit of a hangover Grin But wasn't sick or out of control drunk. Was a great night so it was worth it!

In other news FF has finally given me dotted crosshairs this morn and I'm disappointed because we weren't able to DTD over the time it suggests I was fertile (DH worked v long hours). I don't trust my cheapy thermometer though at all (apparently I'm close to hypothermic?!?) so fx the chart is completely wrong. Tbh I know I'm getting my hopes up, should just hope I have a normal cycle post pill.

Wonder if I can send DH to get me a bacon sarnie...? Grin

kiwi17 · 22/01/2017 10:08

Thanks everyone, bit of a stupid question but where do you get a thermometer from? Do you just get a standard one from a pharmacy?

Kaydee2017 · 22/01/2017 11:06

Kiwi I don't have one myself but have seen others have got BBT ones just from amazon, they may have some recommendations as to which one!

Annie1290 · 22/01/2017 11:12

Had a weird pain low in my stomach yesterday eve...came and went but uncomfortable. Ovia predicting my fertile time was last week so period not due for another week yet. Very odd. Unless its ovulation pain and ovulating late? Be glad to get my OPKs and try and work this out!

Pyjamas81 · 22/01/2017 12:20

I got this one kiwi - BabyMad Basal Thermometer (HOT PINK) Body Temperature Ovulation Test Thermometer (Centigrade) Flexible Tip + BBT Fertility Chart https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00LUSWC5W/ref=cmswwrcppapi_ulkHyb90JR33B

Cheap and cheerful and does the job for me!

It's amazing how hyper aware we get of everything going on in our body Annie - I hope the opks arrive soon and let you pinpoint things better!

Just had my PT session at the gym, 14 year rift between me and my dad appears to be on the mend - today is a good day ☺️

Eva30 · 22/01/2017 19:31

supper I'm sure it's nothing to worry about - care to share your chart?
kiwi yes as pjs has, I just got one off eBay for about £6
pjs fab news about the relationship with your dad. Are you feeling ok after the hsg now? In to fw?
Have been so busy this week, have a lot to catch up on on this thread!
I'm on cd8 now. Had some spotting even until yesterday but none today so af has finally finished. My af seems to be light and long rather than heavy and short, is anyone else like this?
Timing wise this cycle isn't good as due to be a bridesmaid in Oct but still trying, whats meant to be and all that. Will finally get referred for tests in March if no joy.
I'm currently bingeing on Greys anatomy with a glass of rose - definitely feeling relaxed as everyone keeps telling me to beGrin

Eva30 · 22/01/2017 19:37

yellow I know the feeling, I've been baby bombed 3 times this week, including by my hairdresser who was just so over the moon that I had huge pangs of jealousy!
kiwi af for 3 months oh lord! Glad everything was ok though.
supper as Bassett said, you'll be fine to have a few, hope you had a fab party and happy birthday for weds
basset absolutely love your list

kiwi17 · 22/01/2017 19:46

Haha eva it was horrendous - I spent so much money on tampons!! Least its chilled out now. Bit crampy this morning but seems to have settled now!

Pyjamas81 · 22/01/2017 20:19

Yeah Eva - it was a big weight off as I've been carrying around a lot of anger which could only
be lifted by giving it it him with both barrels.

All fine after the HSG (slight pain on right side on occasion, but not surprising as that was the more stubborn tube). FW kicked off yesterday and we dtd - opks are still showing low fertility, but it's good to flush out DH's 'older' chaps as we're crap at dtd outside fertile week! We took a break today and we'll dtd again tomorrow 👍🏼

My AF is short and light, so can't help there am afraid! Good to see your relaxing though ☺️ And as you say, what will be, will be on the timing.

Pyjamas81 · 23/01/2017 10:59

Happy Monday everyone! How is everyone doing?

Got my first flashing smiley face this morning - so v glad we didn't dtd last night. Back on it tonight though! And I've noticed some ewcm - I never get ewcm! Whoop! The things I get excited about these days...

Kaydee2017 · 23/01/2017 11:33

Eva I am the opposite! Mine has shortened & was really heavy days 1&2 then barely there 3&4 - our bodies are so strange! Also love a good Grey's Anatomy binge Grin

Pyjamas I did have to lol, the things that are exciting when TTC!! Good news on OPK too! I have a feeling we will dwindle on the not FW DTD sooner rather than later, but going strong for the time being, CD11 today & have DTD 6, 9 & 10 & aiming to keep going (day off today though, already wiped out by Monday)!! Sounds like you are doing everything right DTD wise & HSG can only help! Fx Smile
