First time TTC - thread five!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 05/12/2016 17:02

Yet again we've managed to exchange nearly 1000 posts swapping our tales of peeing on sticks, dancing for babies, trying to stop Auntie Flo's all too frequent visits, and sometimes, just sometimes, of Big Fat Positives! So let's begin thread five with some updated stats. Me first...

Age 29
Cycle #4
Cycle day 1

I'm feeling unreasonably annoyed by ttc at the moment to be honest. Babybombs by friends who have been trying less time, drinking throughout and much older than me.

It's the first time in 8 months I've been bothered by pregnancy announcements, we've been quite relaxed about the whole thing and I thought I was prepared for it to take a while, my health is complex at the best of times but when every month there is a chance and it doesn't happen it does take its toll. Going into cycle 7 now (month 8) and I'm bored of it!

Sorry you're feeling disheartened too Lisa

Pyjamas81 · 02/01/2017 15:17

Yep - I'm right there with you pie on month 7. Other pregnancies don't seem to bother me yet, it's just the tedium of it all. Fx it'll be our turn soon. I avoid the bus threads now as even though I know I'm ridiculous, I find it hard to see those who hop on, then hop off again quickly.

Am on CD14 and FF tentatively picked up ovulation putting me at 3dpo. I don't trust it this month though as it's so early, I missed a couple of key temps when I could've ov'd and the long haul travel messing up my cycle. I'm carrying on with opks this week just in case it was a false start as has happened before but am stopping temping until the next cycle. I'm only going to temp to pick ovulation from now on as I feel like it's pointlessly stressful in my TWW. Too much getting hopes up and stressing until last minute temp drop when AF will tell me it's game over for that month anyway. I'm just going to try and forget about it all until AF is due and carry on life as normal.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 02/01/2017 16:01

I'm just going to try and forget about it all until AF is due and carry on life as normal.

That was exactly my aim for this cycle, pjs, and I was doing very well (helped with the distractions of Christmas/New Year) until a couple of days ago. I'm also just a bit bored of it all at the moment; I think about it every sodding day and I really wish I didn't. Again, I know that the four and a bit months I've been trying is nothing in the grand scheme of things, but August just feels like a long time ago!

So AF arrived this morning :( and I'm feeling fed up with everyone including DH and just grumpy in general! Haha... And so we continue.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 02/01/2017 16:11

Really sorry about AF, kiwi. I reckon let yourself wallow today, and then tomorrow try to think of it as a brand new cycle with a brand new chance to conceive and as a step towards your cycles regulating themselves. Easier said than done, I know!

florafoxtrot · 02/01/2017 17:12

I could have written your post Lisa, it is just disheartening - no other word for it. I'm going to try hard to throw myself into healthy eating and evercise in the hope that it provides a distraction and a new obsession... and if you believe that you'll believe anything!
Sorry for AF kiwi - you're definitely allowed a day of feeling pants - mostly caused by hormones and then you'll feel better in a few days - promise!
PJs, I'm also a bit sceptical of my alleged ovulation date, had a positive OPK on CD13 and raised temps thereafter - stopped temping at 3DPO as my thermometer crapped out... but normally I don't ovulate until CD17... feck knows what to think.
Hope you're feeling a bit better Basset xx

bassetmum · 02/01/2017 17:33

I am feeling better thanks. I think I just needed a good cry. Haven't had a proper one for ages.

Sorry af got you kiwi WineCake for you.

May I have your opinion please. Would we say this is a near positive opk??

bassetmum · 02/01/2017 17:34

Sorry for the disappointment feelings everyone is having. I am month 5 and have my moments. Let alone you guys further along.

florafoxtrot · 02/01/2017 17:42

Looks very nearly positive anyway. I would get on the case!! Crying is very good therapy at times, I always seems to need to precede it by ranting and raving though... like a lunatic. I'm only on month 6 so really need to remember there isn't much coming over me

kiwi17 · 02/01/2017 18:07

Thanks everyone :) feeling a bit more human now although back to school tomorrow (teacher) so ergh...! Looks nearly positive to me bassetmum!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 02/01/2017 19:59

flora I'm doing exactly the same! Doing dry January and calorie counting (which I previously gave up because I thought it was a bit obsessive) to distract myself - when I write it out like that it sounds a bit mad...

Sorry to hear a few of you are feeling down Sad but I hope this story will give you a pick up - there's a lady on one of the other threads I follow, she's 41 and single and has been trying for a baby for 2 years (by buying the 'magic potion') and has had a mc and failed IUI attempts and then got her BFP yesterday - how amazing is that.
It'll happen for us all, keep the faithSmile

Thanks for the comments about the job, I've decided to see how this week at work goes to decide if I'm going to go to the interview or not (I have an ongoing project which is bothering me but should progress somewhat this week)

bassetmum · 02/01/2017 23:08

Sounds like a plan eva. Well without being tmi after dtd tonight my other half went

"Have you been reading this article?"

I say "what article"

He then sends me this
www.google.co.uk/amp/www.theladbible.com/more/inspirational-january-2-is-the-most-popular-night-to-conceive-so-get-to-it-20170102.amp.html?client=safari

bluebell17 · 02/01/2017 23:13

Hi Basset
I saw that article too when it was shared on the January thread!
I imagine there was lots of DTD around the country tonight due to that article!

Pyjamas81 · 02/01/2017 23:22

I saw that article too basset! No chance of dtd tonight - we're both tired and depressed about work tomorrow! Hope what we did was enough - but it definitely isn't a strong cycle for us as we missed first half of FW so I haven't got my hopes up.

Blissfulignorance · 03/01/2017 08:54

Massive congratulations mouse!

Finished my nights, obviously couldn't take part in dtd last night haha!
4dpo I think nothing to report except nasty acne on my chin.

Tired now, going to bed. Check in later

bassetmum · 03/01/2017 18:06

Hope you had a good rest bliss. Took another opk today after holding on to pee for three hours and only half a pint of water if that. It was negative. Did wonder if that near positive was a bit early or not on cd11?

Work was so miserable today. The lack of sleep is definitely not helping. Did you all survive your first day back?

kiwi17 · 03/01/2017 18:53

Just about... Having AF and trying to contend with teenagers is never fun!

stepmum88 · 03/01/2017 19:01

Hope you don't mind me joining in-this thread has given me lots of hope- am TTC first time, am desperate to take a test, and know I have 2 weeks to wait -hope do people cope with this?!!!! 😣

JoanneF26 · 03/01/2017 20:14

Well I'm CD18 - have been using OPKs every day since around CD13 and not so much as a sniff of a positive Confused

I had a positive on CD15 last month (1st off the pill) - I'm thinking could I have ovulated sooner this month? CM is all but none existent, still trying to work my body out after 15years on the pill! I am using both Glow and Ovia apps who both had my FW's at different times but due to the negative OPK's keep adjusting themselves!

Only on cycle two however it's hard not to think what if all the timeHmm

yellowfrontdoor · 03/01/2017 20:15

Hi, can I join in?

35, never ttc before.

Does anyone else have really really long cycles? Like 40 days?
I've bought some ovulation kits, but have no idea when to start testing?
I have a period tracker app that's saying AF is due next week (allegedly, who knows?!)

Anyone else have this too?
I'm worried about how it'll affect my chances of conceiving Sad

Pyjamas81 · 03/01/2017 21:05

Welcome yellow, Joanne, and stepmum!

Hang in there stepmum - the TWW is killer, try your best not to symptom spot or test early. It's hard though - I failed miserably for the first couple of months!

Are you temping Joanne? That's really the only way to find out if you ov'd or not as opks only detect the surge rather than actual ovulation. I got surges but didn't ov for the first couple of months after coming off birth control.

Have you always had long cycles yellow or have you just come off birth control? It can take a fair while for cycles to settle (about 5 months for me).

Cd15 here and 4dpo - ovulation was super early this month so am still carrying on OPK testing to make sure I'm not revving up twice this month as has happened before and missed out on dtd on second surge when I actually did ovulate. My temps did rise, so I think we're fine and I just ovulated early. Going to book an HSG this month to check tubes are fine. If they're not, ivf is our best option, if they are we can wait a couple of months before deciding whether we want to try ivf or not. I have low AMH levels for my age, so time is a real issue.

Going back to work today was so damn depressing!!

JeNeBaguetteRien · 03/01/2017 23:58

Huge congratulations Mouse - look what happens when you don't try!!

Huge congratulations also to Hells so pleased for you.

Sorry for those missing family whether they're far away or have passed away. Have just read 2 weeks worth of messages as I was ill over Christmas but feeling okay now.
Back on the DTD treadmill. Was feeling tired earlier but DH promised we could just have a quickie

JeNeBaguetteRien · 04/01/2017 00:03

Whoops posted too soon but really where does the romance go? Will have some "fun sex" tomorrow.Have been using Fertile Check (similar to Preseed etc).
Welcome to the newbies.
Hope (early!) 2017 sees some BFPs for us all!

yellowfrontdoor · 04/01/2017 13:18

Pyjamas81 I've always had long cycles. Been off the pill now for 18 months (came to the conclusion hormonal contraception doesn't suit me), and ever since have been hoping my cycles regulate, we didn't start ttc until recently.
I've had tests at my GP, they came back clear. My hormone levels are apparently fine, my body just has long cycles Sad

It just makes testing for ovulation quite tricky & frustrating. I must've missed my surge this month.
