Yet again we've managed to exchange nearly 1000 posts swapping our tales of peeing on sticks, dancing for babies, trying to stop Auntie Flo's all too frequent visits, and sometimes, just sometimes, of Big Fat Positives! So let's begin thread five with some updated stats. Me first...

Age 29
Cycle #4
Cycle day 1

Eva you don't lose anything by going to the interview. At the end of the day if you can have a happy job then that's a good thing. Working unfortunately takes up an awful lot of time.

I have no idea what's causing the insomnia. I'm hoping to pick up my yoga practice at home again and I'm hoping that will help too.

bluebell17 · 29/12/2016 20:47

Basset - I struggle to get to sleep too and have taken to listening to audio books to get me to wind down. I find my mind doesn't wander and I don't pander to my anxieties when I'm listening to audio books as my mind is occupied by something else.

Pyjamas81 · 29/12/2016 21:55

Yep - I was the same on the plane Eva. It's the same every year. I'm always so jealous when I ask people what they're up to at the weekend and they say they're visiting mum/brother etc.

I know what you mean about the interview (I'm on 3 months notice as well) - I caught myself looking at jobs and there's a few I'd like to go for, but ttc (even though I know it shouldn't) is stopping me. I agree with basset though - you may as well go to the interview and see what happens.

Dtd done today and we'll go for it again tomorrow - I really hope this isn't an ovulation false start! Back at work on Tues so if we could wrap it all up before then that would be most convenient!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 31/12/2016 10:26

Hope you're feeling a bit better now, pjs. It must be really hard. How are the flashy/solid faces coming along?

I am at that really boring bit of the 2ww - 7/8 dpo, nothing to report and just don't feel optimistic about this cycle. Somehow I feel like I just know it's not my cycle - which I know is just as silly as feeling like you know it is your cycle with no evidence! Anyway, roll on 2017 - year of bfps for many of us, I'm sure!

Lisa I know the feeling well, I spend about 80% of my cycle 'knowing' I haven't done it then 20% wishful thinking. I hope you feel more positive soon, so much easier said than done.

If I go by my apps then I'm 1dpo today. We have used the preseed (made a huge mess the first time Blush) and I've been doing what DH describes as acrobatics after. Only for about 6 mins then I'm too uncomfortable.

TMI alert. For this who use preseed, do you fine there seems to be more 'waste' after when you go for a wee?

Anyway happy new year all! I'll be on a night shift hopefully an event free one.

bassetmum · 31/12/2016 10:59

Cant help with the pre seed sorry. Although on the waste Ive noticed since being off the pill there is less waste which makes sense.

Cd9 over here. Oh is full of cold so the plan of starting dtd earlier is non existent at the moment. I did however make a really stupid move this morning. Took my pre conception vits on an empty stomach which of course then meant I was ringing the porcelain telephone. I know from so many threads that you dont take them on an empty stomach eejit!!

Pyjamas81 · 31/12/2016 12:10

Feeling a bit better - thanks Lisa. Always hard the first few days away from family. Everyone is always jealous that I have annual trips to somewhere sunny - what I wouldn't give to have everyone I love in the same country!

We've dtd day before yesterday and yesterday, one more go today, then hopefully one more for luck on Monday. I stupidly forgot to take temp before getting up yesterday so FF is probably not going to pick up ovulation and I'm going to have to guess - so annoying! Got a negative OPK yesterday - going to carry on testing over the next week in case my body revved up early with no results and then revs up again later as it did one month. My uterus is literally like a spluttering old banger ha ha. One thing I have been doing differently is er, 'finishing myself off' after dh has finished as I read it helps things move along if the woman orgasms after the man. Who knows, but worth a shot!

I only go up to level 2 on the pressed applicator otherwise it gets way too slippery and messy down there!

Oh no re empty stomach basset! Hope you're feeling better!!

bassetmum · 01/01/2017 01:25

Im ok now pjs. Currently fighting the insomnia at the moment. Kalms not really working. I was a total numpty at New Years and cried through the whole firework display. Just missing my dad. Happy new year all lets hope 2017 is our year.

MouseLove · 01/01/2017 10:58

Happy New Year ladies. I got my BFP yesterday. I'm in total shock as we weren't trying this cycle as I was meant to have an MRI scan yesterday. Well, didn't have the scan!!

Here's to many more this year!!! X

kiwi17 · 01/01/2017 11:07

Hello everyone, having nervously lurked around these kind of threads for a while I am jumping in because I desperately want advice/ comfort hehe. I am 26, 3rd month of ttc after having horrendous nexplanon removed in October and haven't had AF yet this cycle despite last one being end of Nov I think (hard to remember because I spotted for about a week before it started properly and I cant remember the exact day it properly started) have taken 3 tests now and all BFN but still no sign of AF! I also have an awful chesty cough and cold symptoms which are driving me mad. Does anyone have any advice? DH is saying go to the Dr this week but I don't want to waste his time - surely if its coming out negative on the tests its negative?? Argh! Please help :) thank you!!

bassetmum · 01/01/2017 11:27

Mouse!!! That is amazing. So happy for you!! What a great way to start the new year!

Kiwi welcome! I believe that your dr wont do anything until 6 months post hormonal contraceptives as it can take a while for your natural cycles to pick up. If you are worries though there isn't any harm in seeing your gp.

bluebell17 · 01/01/2017 11:59

Congrats mouse! That's amazing news!!!! Happy new year.

Eva30 · 01/01/2017 13:39

Happy new year all.
basset not a numpty at all. Nye makes us all reflect and it's completely understandable that it made you emotional. Go easy on yourselfSmile
pjs glad you're feeling better
Hi kiwi it just takes a while for the first few cycles, mouse had a 50 day cycle on cycle 1!
mouse I said congrats on the other thread but congrats again!!

Piehunter · 01/01/2017 15:22

Congratulations mouse!

Sorry for all those who are missing family stuff or finding new year tough. Hopefully a more positive 2017 coming up for everyone!

Piehunter · 01/01/2017 15:27

That should have said missing family! Don't know where the stuff came from!

Seahawk80 · 01/01/2017 15:36

Congrats mouse! I guess it shows it only takes the once!

HeyJupiter · 01/01/2017 15:59

De-lurking to say congratulations to you mouse - so happy for you! What a brilliant way to start the year :)

So DH and I going to start trying properly this month. Am on CD6 and due to ovulate this coming weekend (cycles tend to be around 26 days and ovulate day 13 if OPK sticks correct.) Looking forward to going back to healthy eating after consuming everything in sight over the christmas period.

Went to see Nurse Practitioner a few weeks ago who has prescribed me 5mg folic acid daily as my BMI is 30.4. Am hoping to dip below the obesity marker in the new year as I will continue to diet in moderation (balanced but no more than 1500 calories a day) so can go down to 400mcg daily like everyone else.

Hopefully 2017 will all be our year. Good luck everyone.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 01/01/2017 17:04

Congratulations, mouse! What fantastic news - and finding out on NYE! What a start to the year!

So sorry, basset. Christmas and New Year can both be such tough times for the bereaved. Take good care of yourself, and be really kind to yourself Flowers

Oh and welcome kiwi and Jupiter! Sorry that you're going through such a frustrating experience, kiwi - I think you probably just have to hang on in there, really, as it's normal to have very irregular cycles for a while after coming off hormonal contraception. Hope you get either AF or (hopefully!) a BFP soon!

OP posts:
kiwi17 · 01/01/2017 18:00

Thanks for the welcome everyone :) been a bit of a depressing new years day for me having convinced myself I must be pregnant due to no AF but hearing what people are saying plus BFN is making me think a bit more realistically :/ the weird thing is the first two cycles I had after having the implant removed were normal 24/25 days so its weird that this one is now about 36! Oh well...

bluebell17 · 01/01/2017 18:55

I'm sorry to hear your frustrations kiwi. I'm the same though with feeling like things are a bit all over the place. Fingers crossed for BFPs for us and everyone else soon! X

florafoxtrot · 01/01/2017 21:28

Congratulations Mouse! Lovely news!

Kiwi - my first month of trying I had a 37 day cycle, had never been longer than 31 days before and I wasn't on any hormonal contraceptives (condoms only!) so I've learnt that sometimes bodies can just screw around to mess with your mind!
CD25 here, 12dpo and pretty sure we've not done it this month despite a lot of dtd. My sides are cramping as usually happens before AF so just waiting it out. Starting to get really frustrated and mental by this whole process.

Pyjamas81 · 02/01/2017 00:28

Amazing news mouse! Congratulations!! Amazing start to the year Grin

CD13 here and one more session of dtd tomorrow - really hoping I'm not gearing up for ovulation twice this month, we're tired! Opks still negative, which is good. My temps are all over the place due to the travelling/new year boozing last night, so think I'll have to guess ovulation day.

Kirstyinnorway · 02/01/2017 08:19

Yes mouse! Huge congratulations! Of course it was when you weren't trying - Mother Nature loves a surprise! Haha.

Sending a virtual hug basset Flowers

Happy new year all, wishing for BFPs for you all round.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 02/01/2017 12:40

I'm a couple of days behind you flora (10 dpo today) but otherwise feeling very similar and pretty fed up. I know I'm being unreasonable, as this is only cycle 4 for us, but just currently feel like it will never happen.

Happy New Year to you too, kirsty - how are you feeling? Still quite nauseous? I hope it's not too bad.
