Welcome to our third thread on PCOS. What we don't know isn't really worth knowing. We're a friendly bunch of women who have a few things in common. We all have either PCOS or unexplained infertility and we're all on a mission for a BFP!!!!

For new members, and old alike here are the links to our 1st and 2nd threads:

Lol they asked us to use contraception but I'm day 17 and normally ov on 18 or 19.

satsoooma · 01/03/2017 20:22

Go for it Fluffy!

FluffyEwok · 01/03/2017 20:29

I'm not expecting it to work but it's worth a shot. I had bad right sided pains today and my cm is going a bit slippy

satsoooma · 01/03/2017 20:35

Definitely worth a shot. There will be plenty of time for IVF next cycle.

YouBoggleMyMind · 01/03/2017 20:42

Go go go! I have you're DTD now!

YouBoggleMyMind · 01/03/2017 20:43

Hope*

satsoooma · 02/03/2017 09:33

AF turned up this morning Sad, so that is it for me this cycle. I'll start round 5 of clomid tomorrow. I only get 6 cycles, so am beginning to worry that it just won't happen for us.

I think I will book another fertility clinic appointment to talk about what comes next. I don't like not knowing how many more cycles of treatment I can expect.

On the other hand, AF turned up right on time, which means that I almost certainly ovulated and that is half the battle, right?

YouBoggleMyMind · 02/03/2017 13:24

Sorry satsooma, that's rubbish. But yes, it looks like you did ovulate. Lucky round 6. I got pregnant on round 6. Didn't end well but I did get pregnant. Let's trying and be positive for our next and last rounds.

satsoooma · 02/03/2017 14:53

Thanks Boggle. I am taking a day to feel sorry for myself and then it will be time to be positive and get on with the next round. I am kicking up the healthy eating and exercise too, maybe it will help, can't hurt anyways.

I've also been scaring myself a bit reading about IVF today, (eligibility criteria, costs and success rates). I hope it does not come to that.

YouBoggleMyMind · 02/03/2017 16:39

Yup, today is the day to feel sorry for yourself. Look after yourself xxx

MoonLight2511 · 03/03/2017 05:39

Hi I'm new to this, but i have a question. Three days ago I started my period but it came a little bit earlier than usual. My period is a light consistency and is dark red then turns dark brown and is really watery (up to a point where it will just be dripping). I've never had a watery period, but not only that, my usual period never starts light and it never turns dark brown. All these 3 days my period has been dark red and then turns dark brown and stops for a while seeming like if I don't have a period anymore and then comes back again the same thing, why is my period like this? could it actually be my period? oh and in my period I usually have really bad cramps but this period i dont have anything.

holzyb20 · 05/03/2017 15:46

Hi everyone can I join? I was recently (about 3 months ago) diagnosed with polycystic ovaries I been ttc for about 3 years, stupidly I was to embarrassed to go and ask for help as I wasn't conceiving so left it a long while until I finally went and see my doctor I have now been referred to assisted conception unit and have my 1st appointment soon. How many of you conceived naturally how long did it take? What is the best medication? I have so many questions. I get so confused as I get strong pregnancy symptoms a lot but always turns out to be nothing :( x

satsoooma · 05/03/2017 17:07

Hi holzy! I am not sure, but I don't think anyone on this thread fell pregnant without any help. Maybe dani, if you want to search back in the thread a bit. If you have PCOS, then you will likely be prescribed clomid at your first appointment. You take it for a few days a the start of your cycle and it helps your ovaries to grow and release one or two eggs a month. They also give you an ultrasounds scan after a few weeks, to check that it is working correctly.

It is good that you have an appointment coming up soon. If you feel like you have loads of questions, start keeping a note of them somewhere, as it is easy to forget what you meant to ask in the actual appointment.

Moonlight, I am not sure, but that sounds within the bounds of normal to me.

ElizabethCatherine · 05/03/2017 18:49

Welcome @holzyb20 I am with you - I just found out I have PCOS about 2 months ago. I came off BC in august and have not had a period since. So they finally sent me for a scan to confirm for pcos.

My goal right now is to try and regulate my hormones naturally while I wait for my referral appointments. I guess it's my way of coping until I can see someone. Can't believe how long the wait lists are in the UK. I just want a period! I feel so unwomanly without a period and sprouting a little moustache >.<

I have started on Friday with seeing a reflexologist. I will be seeing her every Friday for the next 6-8 weeks. I will let you ladies know how this goes for anyone who was interested in holistic ways to cope between appointments. I have started reading a book.. I honestly can say this is one of the BEST books for us ladies with PCOS or irregular hormones. Do your self a favour ladies and read this book!!! It's fantastic and the author has PCOS I am so glad someone told me about this book and was able to get her period regular again and people falling pregnant by following her steps.

SLady · 06/03/2017 17:05

Hi everyone, been taking a bit of a break from everything as I'm feeling a bit helpless at the moment.

Been on inositol for over a week now, nothing to report except my CM seems to have increased. CD 60 at the moment.

Telephoned the fertility clinic today, even though my referral was put through 3 weeks ago they haven't processed it/received it. Lucky i checked! My GP is sending through again and the wait time is 2-3 months at the moment (when you finally get put on the system!!!). I'm considering booking an appointment privately as I just can't take the wait any longer. The doing nothing is really getting to me! Especially when 3 weeks pass and I'm still not even on the radar!

Hope everyone is OK

satsoooma · 06/03/2017 17:19

Sorry to hear that SLady. I had a mess up with my referral too. I got referred as a private patient and had to start again as an NHS patient. Took 7 weeks in total I think.

Do you have an official PCOS diagnosis yet? If so ,doctor is likely to just start you on provera and clomid. So it could be worth a private appointment to get started on that, as I can't imagine that would be as expensive as, say IVF.

satsoooma · 06/03/2017 17:28

I have put on about a stone since I first started on clomid (maybe some of it is due to hormonal changes, but mostly just stress eating, as this whole process is just miserable).

I think I have mentioned here that I am unhappy about this a few times, but over the last week I have finally managed to start shifting some of the weight. I always know that if I can keep up the healthy eating/weight loss for a week, then I am good to go. It is just getting started that is the problem.

I am so pleased about this, as I have always struggled with my weight and I know that this can make PCOS symptoms worse. Maybe the weight loss and clomid together will be the combination that works. Halo

SLady · 06/03/2017 18:46

It's so frustrating isn't it satsooma. Yes I was diagnosed when I was 17 and again last year (was told to TTC naturally for a year). A year has passed so have had to repeat all tests for my referral because they're "out of date". Yes that's what I'm wondering, whether I can just book the consultant appointment privately so I can get clomid asap. I've enquired about costs so we'll see how expensive it will be.

Go you on losing weight!! Fingers crossed it's a winning combination this round!

satsoooma · 08/03/2017 09:19

It is really frustrating SLady, but you will get there in the end.

I have just finished my second-to-last round of clomid. I took it a bit earlier than usual this month (I've been finding it hard to tell when to start taking the pills, as my AF has been starting really slowly with many days of spotting). This month was the most normal AF that I've had for a while though. Hoping that is a good sign.

Also lost 2lb this week. 13 lb more to go.

SLady · 08/03/2017 12:51

Sounds like a good sign to me satsooma will you be having tracking done this round?

My referral form has finally been processed! I will hear in about 12 weeks re an appt. In the meantime I'm going to book a private appointment with the consultant I will be seeing just so I can have a chat about everything in the meantime. If he suggests having a hycosy first for example then least I can get that done while I wait for my nhs referral so I'm all ready to start treatment when I see him. I know I could just wait but knowing I'm doing something and that I haven't got to wait 12+ weeks to talk to someone about it all has really helped my state of mind so it's worth the private consultation

YouBoggleMyMind · 09/03/2017 10:02

Hi ladies, hope we're all well.
StArted provera last week and looks like AF is on her way as I've already started spotting and I've still got a day left of provera to take. I now wonder if AF would have turned up on her own if I'd not started provera. Anyway, very glad to not be having to wait another week to 10 days for AF to show like I have on previous occasions. Will crack on with my last round of clomid in a few days I think. Hopefully this will be the one. Will know either way beginning of April.

satsoooma · 09/03/2017 11:48

Hey Boggle! That is weird about the spotting, hope you get a proper AF soon so that you can start clomid. I think I will be testing on 1 April, so we'll be reletively close together. Sorry if I already asked this, but have you discussed what comes after clomid with your clinic?

No tracking this round SLady, my clinic only offers it on the first round. I do have a follow up appointment with the consultant in two weeks though. I want to talk about what we do once I run out of clomid (I only have one cycle of treatment left), so that I can be ready to move on to the next thing immediately.

Glad to hear that you are getting a private appointment, it really helps to know that you are moving forward.

YouBoggleMyMind · 09/03/2017 13:07

AF is defo on her way as I feel all heavy and crampy. We'll go back to the clinic if this round fails and talk options but it's likely to be IVF. This is my 10th round of clomid so I very much doubt they'll give me more. I will ask about injectables as it would be easier to do that than the whole IVF process but I don't know if i'm suitable for that or not.

satsoooma · 09/03/2017 14:01

Hopefully neither of us will have to find out what comes next Boggle. This is going to be our lucky cycle! x

YouBoggleMyMind · 09/03/2017 15:26

I hope so Satsooma 🤞🏻
