Welcome to our third thread on PCOS. What we don't know isn't really worth knowing. We're a friendly bunch of women who have a few things in common. We all have either PCOS or unexplained infertility and we're all on a mission for a BFP!!!!

For new members, and old alike here are the links to our 1st and 2nd threads:

Now without further ado, let's continue on our journey.......

Summer ive been on clomid thats made me ovulate but no pregnancy. They want to do ivf next xxx

Iamchanging · 04/01/2017 22:04

Are you not allowed to do injectabkes Fluffy as I've read that can be just as successful as IVF?

FluffyEwok · 05/01/2017 00:41

My consultant says my risk of ohss is too high for injectables. He would do a fet instead.

SummerHopin · 05/01/2017 10:01

Morning Boggle, thanks for your kind words much appreciated :)

Fluffy sorry inflatables are not an option for you. I've not heard of OHSS before but have just googled it, do you know why your risk is particularly high or is it a standard PCOS thing? (if you dont mind me asking).

SummerHopin · 05/01/2017 10:03

Oh god! Shock Not inflatables - injectables! Stupid bloody autocorrect!

YouBoggleMyMind · 05/01/2017 11:17

Inflatables would defo be more fun!

Always summer, it's such a hard journey and you ladies have supported me through some dark times. I like to return the favour xxx

FluffyEwok · 05/01/2017 12:36

I think summer most pcos women have loads of eggs so if theyre over stimulated they have high risk of ohss. My amh was 130 so thats high

Iamchanging · 05/01/2017 20:10

I didn't know that, thanks Fluffy. I've got my Clomid appointment at the end of Jan, so I'm a bit behind you. Another pregnancy announcement at work today, do you guys have any strategies for coping?

YouBoggleMyMind · 05/01/2017 20:24

Injectables can be controlled by scans and measuring the dose of each injection. Pcos women have eggs that just don't get released as the follicles on your ovary don't ever mature enough.

FluffyEwok · 05/01/2017 20:47

I cope by thinking im still young and their baby isnt mine so is of no business of mine!Grin

Iamchanging · 05/01/2017 20:50

Fair point Fluffy!!

FluffyEwok · 05/01/2017 20:56

Im a hard faced cowBlush

Iamchanging · 05/01/2017 21:24

No you are entirely right - I need to cultivate your attitude!!!

YouBoggleMyMind · 05/01/2017 21:26

You're not hard faced Fluffy, just been dealt a difficult hand.

Iamchanging · 05/01/2017 22:03

Sorry if tmi but I've finally had a period after a year, however it is so heavy and long it is starting to worry me now. It's over two weeks now with no let up. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm hoping it's just because I've not had one for so long?

YouBoggleMyMind · 05/01/2017 22:21

Changing, that does seem quite a long time without any let up? Defo worth a trip to your GP or at least some telephone advice?

NeverGoOutOfStyle · 06/01/2017 09:53

@iamchanging I have had this! It was months of content bleeding, it was super heavy and points and then quite light but went on for months. I was referred to a gynaecologist after my GP tried mefenamic acid and tranexamic acid to stop the bleeding but nothing worked until they put me on Norathistrine for a week, I had a bleed after that ended like you're supposed to and that was the end of it, after August-November of constant bleeding! It was hell but luckily it has never, ever happened again since.

Not much to report here myself, still no AF(9 days later than Ovia predicted, 1 day later than Clue) and still just BFN. Yesterday for some reason, I really thought I would get that second line, but no such luck. I suppose I'm not actually out until AF arrives but pretty doubtful that this is my month now. Just want AF to arrive so we can get onto the next cycle and try again. I have an appointment with an endocrinologist at the end of the month and discuss treatment, it's been a lengthly process just to try get back on Metformin but hopefully I finally will be able to go back on it!

satsoooma · 06/01/2017 14:37

Happy new year everyone!

Can you all please talk me out of POAS tomorrow (CD25). We DTD every 1-2 days this cycle, and I feel all exhausted and achy this week. So I am pretty excited for our chances.

If I don't test tomorrow, I will probably wait until the next weekend, because I hate the thought of getting a BFP and having to rush off to work rather than celebrate. That seems an impossible amount of time to wait though!

YouBoggleMyMind · 06/01/2017 15:27

Hi satsooma, happy new year.

Don't test. You'll be disappointed if it's negative and if it does show a faint positive, like what happened to me, there is every chance it could be a chemical. Obviously we hope that isn't the case but you'll have a more accurate picture by waiting a few more days. When is AF due? Flowers

satsoooma · 06/01/2017 15:30

Thanks Boggle. I've still not really had enough proper cycles to know, but I think AF is due Tuesday-Thursday.

satsoooma · 06/01/2017 15:39

I've not been keeping up on the thread over Christmas, but aren't you due to test soon Boggle?

YouBoggleMyMind · 06/01/2017 15:52

No, AF came bang on cd28 and we only DTD cd9 and cd14 so even with 6 follicles, still didn't manage to get knocked up. Have just finished another cycle of clomid at 100mg with metformin and have a scan on Wednesday to see if my body is playing ball this time.

YouBoggleMyMind · 06/01/2017 15:54

I'd try to wait until at least Wednesday next week. I'll have my scan and you can test and hopefully we'll both get good news! Xx

Elly1685 · 06/01/2017 18:23

Hey ladies,

Yeah satsooma try and wait (easier said than done)! Like boggle said, at least if you wait and test next weekend and get a line you will be more secure with it!!
fC for your scan on Wednesday Boggle. I really hope it's good news for you :)

I've been trying to use OPK's this month but getting too fed up with the results already. I had no line for days, then a really faint line that if you squinted you could see, on Wednesday it was a bit darker but still not a positive. To be honest the whole not drinking and not going to the toilet thing is impossible with my job so I not think there's any point in my continuing with them! Especially as people say it's so easy to miss the surge anyway!

Iamchanging · 06/01/2017 19:14

Thanks both, if it is no better by Monday I will ring the docs and see what they say. Good luck for everyone waiting to POAS
