Hi Boggle, I love the concept of wearing your positive pants - what a sweet thought from your friend :)
We had a consultation yesterday with a private fertility specialist gynae (we decided to take the plunge and pay to get some tests done to see where we stood).
The results were that although I have PCOS my ovary reserve was really high......so loads of eggs waiting to hatch but the buggers just dont get far enough along to pop out! His advice was to continue on just Metformin for another 2 months as that may be enough to kick start ovulation, then after that he would suggest either clomid or a lap&dye procedure.
Worse news though, hubby's SA came back with all good results, but with a note from the lab saying there were antibodies present. The consultant didnt seem worried by this - in fact he thought the results concluded as normal, the only thing he said was that IF we had to go down the road of IVF we would need ICSI rather than IUI because of antibodies. At the time we just nodded and carried on thinking it was just a note, but when I got home and googled it like mad had a quick look up, there are lots of issues with male fertility due to antibodies.
Maybe I'm just a worrier, but what was supposed to make me feel so much more assured has now left me thinking there might be something else going on. I wish I had asked more about that part at the time, rather than thinking it was my problem and just concentrating on PCOS meds.
I was half wondering whether to call the clinic and explain my worries - but then on the other hand surely the consultant (he was also the head guy) would have made more of it if it was more of an issue??
My heads going round and round! :(
