Hugh enjoys ISW and his love affair with Doreen. He watches out for skittle tits and weepyitis. Mrs Arseholey Fucknut (AF) shows up when you least want her but brings wine and soft cheese as a consolation prize.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind and well meaning but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly don't convince yourself you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount! It messes with your head and makes you crazy crazier.

We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts. We want a fanny full of determined Doreen, not unicorn farts and gnome tears with extra sparkle. We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area.

Post your stats and add your dates. A more lovely, supportive group of ladies you couldn't wish to meet. We like it when the grads stick around too. No question is too daft. We have opk experts, temp experts, cervical mucus management teams and symptom spotters extraudinaire!

Aw that's okay Music glad to help :) DH and I have our own convenience stores and a few other side businesses too. I also do some freelance editing/proof reading (got to put that Law degree to some use!). We met at Uni and faced a lot of difficulties staying together because of visa changes/requirements since he's from a country outside the EU (very unfair and frustrating!) This probably isn't what we'd have done originally (DH had interviews at Deloitte) but it's what works for us now. It's nice that we get to spend every day together and a bonus is he'll be able to see/help out with a future baby.

Happy samhain all Halloween Smile

Starmist · 01/11/2016 06:21

Morning everyone hope you're all ok. Sorry to those who AF has got Flowers

Skipper 10 portions of fruit & veg a day?! Wow, well done, you put me to shame!

I've got a doctors appointment this morning to see if we can start having tests. Feel quite nervous Confused

sk1pper · 01/11/2016 07:38

Star - don't be nervous, lie about the length of time you've been TTC just in case you have a tricky doctor and say you want to make all the necessary steps to get a referral to a fertility specialist. If you ask the doctor what they think, you give them an opportunity to tell you to come back in x number of months. Just go in and know exactly what you want, they can't refuse you. Let us know how it goes!

kwick · 01/11/2016 08:07

mouse I take:
DHEA - 3 x 25mg daily
Co-enzyme q10 600mg daily
Vit E (sorry cannot remember dose)
Inofolic - which has just been prescribed for my PCOS/weight instead of Metformin - 2 sachets daily
Vit D 2000iu
Vit C 500mg (when I remember/fancy)
Folate (natural form of folic acid) 4mg - due to high BMI - this is way over usual 4mcg dosage
I am taking practically everything that is recommended in "It starts with the egg"
I have just recently stopped taking vit b complex as a side effect can be itchiness - which I am STILL suffering from Angry

Hope appointment goes well star

Musicgrrl · 01/11/2016 08:16

Wow Alexia that sounds like you must have to work very hard but that it is potentially very rewarding and lovely that you get to spend so much time with DH. And like you said perfect for looking after your future baby Smile How's it going with Clomid (also for gee)? How many days do you take it for?

Star good luck for your appointment! FX you get a helpful doctor.

skipper that is an epic amount of fruit and veg! Respect!

MouseLove · 01/11/2016 08:20

Oh my kwick that's hardcore!!!! I didn't take my cod liver oil last night. Only my folic acid but now you've made me think, maybe I should be taking 2. My BMI is 33. DAMN.

I'm so worried I'm not doing enough to prep my body. And with those blood results coming back I can't help think I've lower chance even though the doc didn't have any concern. I had a nurses appointment tomorrow but I bloody cancelled it. Ah well. I'm sure I can take your list and see what I can get. I was thinking a pre-natal vitamin all-in-one would do the trick??

MouseLove · 01/11/2016 08:26

Sk1pper I'm thinking the all-in-one prenatal vitamins might be the way to go instead of individual pots. The folic acid I got was from home bargains haha 99p for 180. If only pregnacare was as cheap Grin

10 fruit and veg is bloody fab. I probably manage 6 a day. But less at the weekends. I should up my intake really when I'm not in work. I'm terrible with water. Blush

LondonJem · 01/11/2016 09:04

Hello fxskip hurrah to end of AF! Sounds like your hard work is paying off. Hope ovulation is not far off

Lol at poster girl music Smile yeah I could win the prize for the most textbook TTC with no BFP! Fx for you, getting swimmers ready before O is the key so you've still got a good shot. We also did not have regular sex before TTC - not unusual for a month to go by without doing it. This year has been a sexual renaissance!

Glad you are getting some answers mouse I think under active thyroid affects fertility but I have no idea about over.

Temping people, how long after getting a positive OPK does your temp rise? We always DTD the day before, day of and day after positive OPK but don't always carry on. I wonder if I need to keep going longer. This time we did it +OPK day, the next day and the day after that so I would hope that would cover us?

Thank you so much for sharing that alexia I could have cried! On the bus so my usual crying spot ! Hmm

Binky eurgh sounds like a rotten week for you, hope it gets better! TTC really puts so much pressure on relationships - we have argued more this year than any other Sad I completely sympathise.

Thanks for the tips kwick my feet are always cold and I am wearing open toe shoes today ... perhaps it's time to get the boots out

Lol at Halloween baby skipper Grin
And oh my god yes alexia literally babies dressed as pumpkins everywhere. A colleague insisted on sending me pictures of her baby yesterday in Halloween outfits! I am surrounded Envy

HepKestrel · 01/11/2016 09:05

Mouse i alternate pregnacare with simple folic+vitd.

it keeps the cost down, and i also don't like "overloading" my self with vitamins.

am rubbish with fruit and veg, but have taken a banana and satsuma to work today.

LondonJem · 01/11/2016 09:05

Good luck starmist let us know how it goes

FXSkip · 01/11/2016 09:40

Hi guys, musicgrrl and Alexia the cycle I conceived was the first cycle I stopped charting, so no, and the cycle before that was 37 days if I remember rightly (from a normal 28-30) and the AF was particularly heavy. I had read then that it can be the sign of a cp, which never shows on a test BUT makes you more likely to conceive the next cycle. I'd dismissed it at the time as OH and I were due to be on opposite sides of the world during my FW (I was in the states with work, he joined me on CD 24 hence why Ovia thought we'd missed the boat) as it happened, perhaps the travelling stress had delayed OV, but I tested when I was 20 days late and there it was - my fake pregnancy! cheers body Hmm

So, long story short my advice, for what its worth, it DTD until the red witch sings (or whatever the saying is) because a) its fun and b) you just never know - even opks and temps aren't foolproof.

Hilariously, Ovia now thinks my cycles are 40 days long, with an average AF of 17 days and that I ov on CD 67 ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

Love the spell, Kwick fx it works for all of us (how spooky would that be?!!)

MrsG280516 · 01/11/2016 09:47

Don't know how much you paid for the Pregnacare Mouse but I got the womens & mens double pack from Amazon, 30 days for about £12 which is the cheapest I saw for both. Centrum also do a pre-pregnancy all in one tablet which is around £6.50 for 30 as well.

I've got Superdrug's own vit D and folic acid (which were about £2.50 for 60) to take after the Pregnacare but can't seem to find an all in one vitamin without vit A to take with them.

harrietm87 · 01/11/2016 10:06

mouse are you deffo hyperthyroid (rather than hypothyroid)? My own (admittedly terrible) GP gets them muddled all the time.

Only because hyperthyroid makes you lose weight rapidly whereas hypothyroid makes you gain. It would be unusual to have hyperthyroid and be overweight (I think you said your bmi is 33 but sorry if I'm confused). Hyperthyroid can affect fertility but usually only because it causes weight loss, so if you're not underweight then that won't be a problem.

It's good that you're making progress though. Hope everyone else is doing well.

AF due today for me but no sign of it! We weren't trying last month so guess I'm just late. Great.

Starmist · 01/11/2016 11:16

Thanks for the advice Skipper, I lied & said we'd been TTC since came off pill last September, in reality it was January we started although we didn't know what we were doing timing-wise for the first couple of months.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. Appointment was a success, took DH with me & he's been given instructions for SA. I've been told I need 3 months of day 21 bloods, & I need to go for triple swabs - not sure what they test for, there was so much info I forgot to ask. I've also been referred for an internal scan. At least things are moving forward.

MouseLove · 01/11/2016 12:19

I know. Totally weird harriet but yes it's over active!!! I have lost 2 stone this year but I started at the gym. Now wondering if my thyroid helped the weight come off. It would defo make more sense for me to be under active but I've always been bigger set as I'm quite tall. I have a size 9 shoe so never going to be skinny. Lol

EleanorRipley · 01/11/2016 14:06

think i have a plan to make AF arrive ....... book my smear test. that should work

Music yes it's hard but rewarding, and we'll scale back hours/add more employees once if we have a family. It is nice to have flexibility and be your own boss though. For example, I took today off. Last night I had my first major meltdown in months. Cue inconsolable crying and waking DH multiple times. I was super emotional, the Halloween babies had set me off (I've now finally deactivated Facebook). I think it was possibly a Clomid side effect too? I also slept very deeply and felt like I couldn't wake up even at 11am. (Gee did you experience anything like that?) I could think of worse side effects though so I won't complain. I have to take it again tonight and tomorrow (5 days in total). How's your tww going?

Starmist pleased your appointment went well. All sounds very positive! Smile

FXSkip thanks for sharing! I definitely agree with dtd regularly throughout your whole cycle.

Jem the rise tends to be 1-2 days after a positive OPK. You have it well covered but dtd a few more times in the tww wouldn't hurt. I read once that it might even help with pushing the egg along? Could be bulls**t though.

EleanorRipley - is that you Hep?

AlexiaB · 01/11/2016 14:46

Oops I hadn't refreshed Hep. Funny how I just knew it was youGrin Is that your real name?

OP posts:
HepKestrel · 01/11/2016 14:54

not my real name.

(ok, my film tastes obviously different to yours Grin)

Starmist · 01/11/2016 16:40

Has anyone had chlamydia? Blush I had it years ago, reckon I had it for a year before I got tested & treated. Really worried it could have damaged my tubes, have read lots about how it can cause infertility Sad

geeup · 01/11/2016 17:02

Sorry starmist I haven't as far as I know but no judgement at all - it's just pure bad luck. Think my DH had it years ago at uni for a few months. His morphology is a bit dodge but tubes are clear as far as we know. Glad you caught it after a year. Hopefully no lasting damage.
AFM alexia I took my first of the 5 clomid pills last night. Didn't sleep very well actually but think that's just as I'm very stressed with work (job interview tomorrow). Desperately hoping it does something this month. Got my scan next Wednesday CD12. Did you say you're not having one? If you can afford it, I'd recommend going to Ultrasound Direct just to check what it's doing to your lining and how many follys you've got but if you feel pretty calm about it, don't worry and save the money!
