Hugh enjoys ISW and his love affair with Doreen. He watches out for skittle tits and weepyitis. Mrs Arseholey Fucknut (AF) shows up when you least want her but brings wine and soft cheese as a consolation prize.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind and well meaning but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly don't convince yourself you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount! It messes with your head and makes you crazy crazier.

We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts. We want a fanny full of determined Doreen, not unicorn farts and gnome tears with extra sparkle. We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area.

Post your stats and add your dates. A more lovely, supportive group of ladies you couldn't wish to meet. We like it when the grads stick around too. No question is too daft. We have opk experts, temp experts, cervical mucus management teams and symptom spotters extraudinaire!

Well ladies you were right, the sex was pretty good Halloween Grin I was impressed with DH because he initiated DTD (usually it's me bugging him) & afterwards he said he hoped his swimmers made it to the egg & was propping me up to help gravity, which he hasn't done before. Maybe everything I've been saying has finally sunk in!

Sorry Alexia FlowersFlowers it looks like AF, how frustrating Sad I hope you're ok xx

HepKestrel · 29/10/2016 07:26

Flowers Alexia

sk1pper · 29/10/2016 07:37

Any tips on how to guzzle a load of water without needing to pee? This is already going badly...

kwick · 29/10/2016 07:50

harriet just to reconfirm I am indeed on 50mcg and not 50mg that I wrote yesterday... so I guess my issue is quite slight but enough for them to care - this has been looked at by my Fertility Clinic, where they are very sensitive about this.

Got home past 11pm and now out the door again for scan. Have nice lunch planned with my family including my nephew - who is the light if my life.
Happy Saturday everyone!

Alexia that looks like AF to me. YOU ARE NOT BROKEN. Your hormones might be a little wild but all that can be sorted. Flowers

Well done starmist Grin

Nope sk1pper that is my issue - just surrender to having to do wee-wee a hundred times a day.

harrietm87 · 29/10/2016 09:33

kwick yes I knew you meant mcg! Definitely good news to be on it as does make a difference to fertility. Do you know that there are different references ranges for when ttc? Ideally your TSH should be under 2.0 (when not ttc under 4.0 is fine).

alexia sorry about AF

Musicgrrl · 29/10/2016 09:50

Alexia definitely looks like AF to me. Ugh, really hope it does what it needs to and then ships out!

I'm consoling myself this morning because after a couple of almost +ve OPKs on Tues evening/Weds morning I haven't had a temp rise yet. Seems like it might not have been enough to make me ovulate. Will keep using OPKs just to check If it tries again but at the moment they've gone back to being very faint. Determined not to obsess about it this weekend so gave myself an hours his morning to stalk charts on FF and now I'm getting on with life!

MrsG280516 · 29/10/2016 10:11

Aww sorry Music that sounds annoying! I know what you mean about stalking FF charts though, I feel like I've looked at them all to try and compare mine. I've also been looking at positive pg tests at 12dpo to see if I'm likely to get a result next Saturday Blush

kwick · 29/10/2016 10:55

So my baseline scan was good - lining looks good and ovary. I may have gone on to Lush and had a bit of a splurge
Next scan on cd9 which is next saturday - In the meantime I am back in to drinking copious amounts if blue organic milk Grin

sk1pper · 29/10/2016 11:15

My scan was good too, though I think they were only checking the womb? The lining was good, no fibroids or fluid sacs - said it all looked normal. So I guess just gotta wait for my blood tests and sperm results.

kwick · 29/10/2016 11:19

sk1pper they most likely looked at your ovaries too - did they not explain what they were looking at? It always amazes me they can see anything - to me it just looks like when your TV goes wrong! Best of luck with next steps Grin and remember if you want those follies to grow drink lots of milk or water (and eat lots of protein ruch food).

Musicgrrl · 29/10/2016 12:24

Yay to good scans kwick and skipper! That's a step in the right direction.

I have failed in my attempt to not obsess over whether I have ovulated or not. Will probably dtd just in case today but if I was ovulating this late after my OPK there would not be much chance for the spermies as my cervical mucus is thick and creamy/sticky now! (sorry for tmi)

Those people who temp - what are you going to do about the clocks changing tonight?

sk1pper · 29/10/2016 12:34

They were recording a lot of measurements for various parts. I really don't know why I didn't ask about my ovaries, I was a little stunned with all the technicalities they were reading out to each other. I think she said the lining was 8.3mm (not said to me, her assistant), no evidence of fibroids, a small water sac but she said it was because I was on CD3 and in her experience that would go later in cycle. She basically said there is no evidence that anything is wrong and no indication of why my periods are so heavy and painful.

sk1pper · 29/10/2016 12:45

Music - good point about the clocks! If it's a non vital point in your chart, id say just start an hour earlier.

sk1pper · 29/10/2016 12:48

Kwick - Grats on your scan too, sorry I was in town and only half read the previous posts. Head feels like it's spinning right now as I'm stunned my results were positive. How nice we had a scan at the same time :) I can't drink milk but I'm gonna try water as per your suggestion. Are you getting scans throughout your whole cycle?

AlexiaB · 29/10/2016 13:14

Fabulous scan news kwick and skipper Smile Skipper so this means you don't have endometriosis like your mum, right? That's greatGrin

Music that's so annoying, I feel your pain! Hopefully you'll see a temp rise soon but keep BD if you can. It'd be nice if our bodies wouldn't screw us over all the time! I'm going to keep temping at 6.30am.

Starmist that was sweet of your DH. Sounds like he finally gets it - wahoo!

Thanks for yesterday. I'm sure I'm just having a lighter than usual AF/bleed too. Going to start clomid tonight eek

Dunno Alexia, apparently endo can only be picked up via laparoscopy. But im gonna put this one down as a win.

Is clomid tablet form? Any side effects?

AlexiaB · 29/10/2016 13:35

Skipper oh I didn't realise. Still great news from today for sure.

Yes it's tablet form. Hopefully I'll sleep through any side effects - headaches, hot flushes, cramps, nausea are all quite common but Gee didn't have any when she took it this cycle. I'm taking the lowest dosage so fx I'll be fine too.

sk1pper · 29/10/2016 14:03

Always best to start off small with anything like that. Well fingers crossed that it releases lots of healthy eggs for you, hope you don't have too many side effects. I've read online it can increase chances from 20-60%. Even 20% is huge...

Si1ver · 29/10/2016 15:06

I'm out this month before even POAS. My period turned up one day early.

I have my 14 month old niece staying as well.

kwick · 29/10/2016 15:11

So sk1pper I am doing an IUI (intra-uterine insemination) this cycle instead of IVF. They do a "baseline" scan on cd 1-3 then again on the lead up to ovulation (so depends on your luteal phase) but with me they usually start at day 9 and then every day or every other day until I am told to trigger my ovulation (with an injection of HCG) and then they inseminate the magic potion the next day, then I have a 16 day TWW. As this cycle is "natural" (ie no drugs to stimulate follicle growth) I will be using opks as per the clinic's instructions.

LondonJem · 29/10/2016 15:25

Great scan news kwick and skip

Clomid is exciting alexia Smile

Sorry about AF silver Flowers

sk1pper · 29/10/2016 15:41

kwick - oh! How did I miss all this? Sounds amazing, I think I misunderstood what IUI was Blush. What's the pros and cons of this over IVF then? Gosh I'm so excited for you, this could be the one!!

HepKestrel · 29/10/2016 16:14

Lsfx for you kwick

I am in paranoid boob pokeage mode...hoping AF is around the corner

InspectorPenguin · 29/10/2016 18:19

Happy weekend everyone, lots to catch up on as usual!

Glad the scans went well for you today Kwik and Skipper. Let's hope it's the start of successful cycles for both of you.

Good luck with Clomid, Alexia. It must help relax you a bit knowing you're getting a bit of help this month? Hope you don't suffer with any side effects but sounds like you're going in easy anyway.

Sorry to everyone who's had AF turn up, and congrats to newest grad Kits Star

I had my first appt with the consultant this week who has given us receptacles for semen and bloods. He's ordered an ovarian scan and HSG as well which will prob take 6-8 weeks to come through.
So it all sounds standard and we're looking forward to getting some results either way.

We guessed my 'Day 21' bloods would need to be done on Day 25, given my longer cycles, but typically I don't seem to have any sign of ovulation despite being on Day 21 now. Sod's law isn't it? My OPKs are usually really faint up to 3 days before ovulation, then go positive very quickly. This month I've had medium-dark test lines since Weds but nothing approaching a positive. I would have expected Ov to happen yesterday or today so all a bit frustrating really. I'm going to wait and see if anything happens in the next few days and might adjust the blood test date accordingly. DP is going to do it for me at home so I'm lucky that I don't need to coordinate with any appointment times.

He, however, is slightly less lucky since he'll have to hand his warm pot of sperm to his colleagues in the lab when it comes to his test date. He's over the moon about that Grin

Seems like there's quite a collection of us undergoing tests at the moment. Will be nice to see how we all get on and hopefully share lots of success stories soon.

To those that were talking about stress (sorry, I'm behind!) I'm sure that severe stress can have an impact but I don't think we need to worry about day to stresses of life and TTC. After all, people get pregnant all the time in war zones and other very difficult situations. Don't let the idea of stress stress you out!

kwick · 30/10/2016 07:24

This will be my sixth IUI sk1pper... my cousin calls them a shot in the dark... but I am hoping what with the cleaning out of my tubes (hycosy), a recent MC, and top grade magic potion I will get lucky this time, not to mention all I have been doing to get superb quality eggs! IUI is a lot less intense than IVF - just scans and then then the procedure - speculum up the fanjo, catheter to follow, then magic potion.
You can do a stimulated version but those drugs do not seem to have an effect on me so I am going "natural".
With IVF there are many more pre-tests, the egg collection can put a lot of strain on your body, although the embryo transfer is much the same as the IUI.
Normally the success rate is much higher with IVF but as you get older the success rate decreases and so there are similar rates for both.
Another big difference is the cost: an IUI for me including the magic potion is about £1200, my first round of IVF was about £12k (£3.5k was medication alone), my second round was cheaper at about £5k.

Inspector it is as though your hormones know you are checking and decide to go erratic... just take lots if deep breaths and have patience.

Here is to a BFP full November!!!!
