Hugh enjoys ISW and his love affair with Doreen. He watches out for skittle tits and weepyitis. Mrs Arseholey Fucknut (Af) shows up when you least want her but brings wine and soft cheese as a consolation prize.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind and well meaning but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly don't convince yourself you're pregnant in the tww That is paramount! It messes with your head and makes you crazy crazier

We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts. We want a fanny full of determined Doreen, not unicorn farts and gnome tears with extra sparkle. We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area.

Post your stats and add your dates. A more lovely, supportive group of ladies you couldn't wish to meet. We've got a few grads sticking around I won't leave and no question is too daft. We have opk experts, cervical mucus management teams and symptom spotters extraudinaire!

Sorry to hear that Nicky have a large glass of wine and a sulk when you get home.

Nicky883 · 26/09/2016 13:11

Sorry for double post ! I am
So pissed off at dh ! He promised he ll go for a sa test if nothing happened this month now he is saying lets "try" for another month and then i ll go ! I just want to scream at him

Si1ver · 26/09/2016 13:16

Pretty standard head in the sand behaviour. It's so frustrating isn't it?

We kind of have it the other way round. My husband keeps offering to pay for private fertility tests for us and I keep reminding him that it's only our 4th cycle and in two more the NHS will do them for us because of our age.

Nicky883 · 26/09/2016 13:20

I dont know its really frustrating . I have done so many tests all he has to do is wank (!) excuse my french !
Its still early days skipper i hope u dont need the appoitment.

sk1pper · 26/09/2016 13:37

Alexia/music - thank you for all your help, I feel a lot less negative about it all now. Pretty funny as I'm sure a week ago I was wondering how on earth women got stressed taking temps. Nothing like some personal experience to put it all in perspective.

Nicky - sorry you hit shark week :(

LondonJem · 26/09/2016 13:38

I booked mine for DH and let him know what time / date it was Blush

Nicky883 · 26/09/2016 13:43

Thats what i should have done london ! Cant do that now since he said no

AlexiaB · 26/09/2016 14:49

So sorry Nicky FlowersCakeWine I hope your DH can be persuaded to do his bit!

sk1pper no worries! I was the opposite, I actually waited a month to start temping after I bought my thermometer because I just felt overwhelmed and like I wouldn't be able to do it right. Now I feel much more confident, and you will soon too :) Here's my post-O temps and short LP from last cycle...

Thread 18 TTC#1 We have cats, courgettes AND cake
WingingIt83 · 26/09/2016 15:12

I stopped temping for a few cycles then realised how reassuring it was seeing the post ov increase and not just relying on opk which doesn't necessarily mean obv (now waiting for someone to tell me temp increase can happen with no egg!)

Musicgrrl · 26/09/2016 15:57

So much chat today - love it!

sk1pper that's so sweet of you to volunteer to research for me! I only wish I hadn't already spent a week of my life looking up what I can do to lengthen my LP... So far I have tried vitamin C (last cycle) and vitamin D (this cycle). I bought some B complex but found it too weird to take. It makes your wee turn bright green!! (sorry tmi). I felt like it might do weird things to my body. Although it sounds like it did good things for you wingingit!

alexia I would like to go to the dr and ask about it but I have read some MN threads where people have said the doctors are really dismissive of luteal phase problems and some don't even recognise it as being a thing! Do let me know if you decide to give it a try though! I will too if I break.

I hate myself for how hopeful I end up feeling in each tww (or 8 day wait...) even though I know I shouldn't. Know I'll come crashing down when my temp drops and I know AF is on her way. I'm trying to give myself a less ambitious aim of hoping I can get an extra day out of my LP!

Musicgrrl · 26/09/2016 16:02

Nicky really feel for you. We aren't at that place yet but I know my DH would probably resist booking in for his test.

si1ver that's good that you can go to docs after 6 months. Funny that your OH is so keen on private!

Jem I like your style. I might have to try that!

WingingIt83 · 26/09/2016 16:54

music yes luminous pee is disconcerting! But doesn't seem to affect opks. I would say it didn't work for me in isolation, lots of other dietary things I think played a factor in my extra long cycle, this month will tell for sure hopefully.

AlexiaB · 26/09/2016 17:05

music/wing I'm with you re. the neon pee haha! Although, now I've been taking it for some time it either isn't as noticeable or it's now normal pee? I definitely haven't been noticing it as much.

music that doesn't sound promising :/ I know from FF that women who are on Femara or Clomid usually have extended LPs and it has the added bonus of faster and better ovulation. I'd love to get my hands on some!

Stupid laptopHmm sorry for the double post.

Mummyh2016 · 26/09/2016 18:10

After having the shittiest couple of weeks in the history of being alive, it was topped off by having the worst day at work ever, which resulted in me having a full on breakdown in front of the whole office. Text DP this afternoon to say let's write this month off as couldn't see how the hell I was going to ovulate when I felt as stressed as I did. Came home, decided to POAS anyway to find the brightest test line ever. I know it's only a OPK but I feel so happy, the shit at work has been all forgotten about Grin I know using OPKs aren't a definite either but I certainly feel like my glass is half full now.

InspectorPenguin · 26/09/2016 18:11

Hi all, nice to see this thread so busy again!

I've been MIA as had a lovely week away on holiday with no internet connection which was very refreshing. Big congrats to the Grads that I missed, so pleased to see it happen!!

Sorry to those that have moved onto another cycle but it sounds like there's a healthy amount of PMA around.

Hep glad to hear you're out the other side of your ordeal and looking forward again; sounds like you have wonderful support in your DH :)

Si1ver I thought I would get tests from the GP too as I am over 35 and on cycle 7 now but he basically threw me out and told me to come back in the new year. He said that six months was nothing and there was no point testing anything now as they would only have to re-do them later if/when I was referred to a clinic. I felt like a total timewaster and quite embarrassed I'd even gone... :(
I hope you get a better response if you go but private tests might not be a bad idea if you want to ensure any problems are tackled as quickly as possible since the 'tests after six months' policy doesn't appear to be guaranteed for us oldies.

CD21 here and OPKs suggests ovulation in the next day or two. Feeling relaxed though as I bought a new bike this weekend and really want to enjoy that for a while and train for a triathlon, which would be screwed by getting a BFP Grin

Nicky883 · 26/09/2016 18:13

Feel like there is no point of keep trying without medical intervention ! I looked at our timing this cycle we dtd at ovulation day -1 and on the next 2 days basically all of our 9 cycles were very good in terms of timing .
I tried everything that there is to try :epo pressed, prenatal vitamins pinapple grapefruit brazil nuts ,preeseed , mooncup to "hold"the sperm, i even specifically booked a holiday on my FW (This is how predictable my cycles are ). I just dont know what else we can do
I feel so depressed just want to give up now Sadsorry for the miserable rant

Pugmummy87 · 26/09/2016 18:24

Congratulations Moose! About time we had a bfp on here.

This AF seems to be going on forever. Cd 6 today.
Need to brave making a GP appt to discuss doing some tests. I have a week off in 12 days time, what's the chances of trying to get an appt in that week do you think? Especially the GP I am thinking of as she's lovely and everyone wants to see her.

I'm terrified to be honest and keep putting it off, but almost 6 years of zero contraception and 1 year of actively trying and not a single bfp, I need to investigate this more now.

InspectorPenguin · 26/09/2016 19:06

Flowers Nicky. This is the worst bit when AF arrives. Look after yourself and don't worry about feeling bad x

sk1pper · 26/09/2016 19:40

Alexia - thanks for posting your chart, I'm relieved to see some dips on yours too. I think perhaps I just had a load of misconceptions going into it that have unnecessarily worried me. I know it's bad because OH originally said we'd go back to the Doctors in the New Year for fertility tests but he's told me to ring them tomorrow and get it booked in ASAP. He also cooked me steamed dumplings which is my absolute fav, so some good has come from all this Grin

Music - I have always found knowledge is power with GPs. You blind them with your knowledge and then tell them the kind of things you should be prescribed. I know that's their job but I think for some GPs it's easier just to tell you to go away and come back. Dont take it, you pay for their service through a lifetime of taxes so get what you need from them.

Mummy - it's not silly, a positive OPK is something to be proud of and its a step in the right direction. Congratulations!

Nicky - so sorry it's not your month :( it is really really hard sometimes. Your list puts mine to shame, it's so great you're taking all these positive steps to try and help it. Remember your hormones are out of whack right now so your sadness will be amplified. Just get off your strict regime for a few days and have some food you enjoy xx

AlexiaB · 26/09/2016 22:07

Pug sadly that's very similar to us. I met DH at 18 and was not on any contraception at the time, and never have been. We only used the pullout method and condoms which we almost always put on near the end. As the years went by I did question why we'd never had an 'accident'. It absolutely terrifies me that there could be a major problem and I keep putting it off too. I really hope you get that appointment with the lovely GP and get some answers soon. And that AF buggers off soon! xx

Sk1pper sounds like a great idea, and result on the dumplingsGrin

Inspector glad you have a nice break!

Nicky be kind to yourself Flowers

AlexiaB · 26/09/2016 22:08

Had*

sk1pper · 27/09/2016 07:41

Lots of symptoms this morning, unfortunately for me my AF symptoms are similar to pg symptoms. Spots, back ache, neck ache and sore boobs. I'm 70% sure it's AF due.

Musicgrrl · 27/09/2016 08:00

Argh sk1pper it's tough isn't it! How many dpi are you?

I've also been symptom spotting. Had very watery cm (tmi) but dr Google seems to say this is due to a drop in progesterone and body gearing up for AF. I'm expecting AF tomorrow and because I'm only 8dpo there's no point in testing even for the fun of it! I really want to get the disappointment done with and out of the way.
