Trc for more than 6 months and concievwd naturally?

Hi ,
We have been trc for 6 months now with not even a hint of a bfp ! Have tried almost everything and i was wondering if its even possible to get pregnant naturaly given the fact that we time intercourse well over the 6 months with no success .
Would love to hear some stories of ladies that did concieve after 6 months and what you did differently

It took seven months for me to get pregnant the first time - after six months I bought an ovulation predictor test and it showed I was ovulating on day 17. I didn't get pregnant that month but used it again the following month and it showed I was ovulating again on day 17. That time I got pregnant.

Yes - 7 months with DC 3, 11 months with DC 2.

Oh, and I did nothing differently.

Took me 9 months to get pregnant the second time round after falling pretty much straight away with our first. We didn't check ovulation or anything fancy we just DTD every second day without fail and eventually it worked!

Thanks ladies . I am really trying to stay positive but its getting harder ! Every month is such a dissapointment

18 months here. We weren't trying trying, but weren't using contraception either. It was a 'if it happens, it happens'.

Nearly 2 years here and I was young 20's so there was no age or health reasons why it took so long it just did! I was getting upset and stressed out to so I understand how you feel

You say you time it.... well I need to say that according to my dates I ovulate a week AFTER I thought I had and on week 3 of my cycle...which was always 4 weeks so it was a bit strange. And when I went to my 12w scan expecting to be 13w they confirmed I was just 12... so don't stop after you think you've ov'd keep at it after that point

Yes, 12 months for DS2 (had a miscarriage during that year) and around 18 months for DS3.

Statistics say - 80% of couples conceive within a year, 90% within 18 months. It's still relatively early days. Rather than timing intercourse, you're better off having sex three times a week every week (AF aside). Hope it happens for you soon.

My sister took over a year with her first and close to a year with her second.
My friend was trying for over 3 years (they'd given up, didn't think they'd conceive and didn't want treatment).
Another friend was just about to start clomid when she found out she was pregnant.

First month with dd. 3 months with number 2, whom I miscarried. 6 cycles to convieve my current bump. It was cycles rather than months because my cycle went crazy after the miscarriage. I recommend the clear blue opks. Expensive but worth it. Follow the instructions to the letter though. My friend took 10 months to convieve number one. She had been on the pill forc14 years and blames that. I don't know if it makes a difference.

When i say times it i meant using clearblue opks and checking cm etc not just counting days .I believe i am sure when inovulate but i could be wrong !

Two years! I had a regular 27 day cycle and used the mydays app to track things. But in all honesty it just happened when it did - there were months we did everything right and still nothing.

It's frustrating upsetting and I cried nearly every month at one point. Was beginning to wonder if something was wrong and we were considering the possibility it might not. It eventually did but I totally feel where you are coming from.

Hi fruity thanks for sharing that . I am 28 so i would like to find out if anything is wrong sooner rather than later ! Cant imagine how it felt to get that bfp after two years !

I'm 34 now and was 31 when we started trying. I'd been on the pill for ten years but had regular periods within weeks of coming off.

It just takes time. There's such a small window for it to actually happen and I had tears and tantrums regularly. But you will get there one way or another.

11 months here. Turned out (after some blood tests) that I was hypothyroid. Once I started medication I got pg very quickly.

I believe the NHS policy is that you should have initial tests (blood tests & sperm tests) done by your GP after a year of trying, or 6 months if you are 35+. My GP is very proactive though and was happy to do the tests sooner for me. So it's worth asking.

You do need to be having sex for several days either side of the OPK positive.

The hanks minipie i thibk i ll book a gp appoitment and tell them we hve been ttc for a while dont know if they would tell me to just wait but we will see

good luck. I remember how frustrating it is but it is very very likely you will get pregnant soon - if not this year then next. Although when you read forums like this it seems like long term fertility issues are common, in real life these stories are a pretty small percentage. And age is very much on your side.

Thanks minipie ! I really do hope i get a bfp soon as am getting a bit obsessed! If anyone looked at my google history they would be convinced am losing the plot ! Today i googled early menopause symptoms !!

Don't lie to your GP. It's a waste of NHS resources as the chances are you will get pregnant in the next 6 months, and you'll put yourself through stress and painful invasive tests unnecessarily.

It took me over 2 years to conceive DD naturally and I was on my way along the fertility treatment routs. It was awful. It took me 20 cycles to get pregnant with DC2, which was around 17 months as my cycles were shorter after having DD, also a natural conception.

She didn't say she was going to lie Garden? She said she'd tell the GP they'd been trying for a while and accepted they might be told to wait.

Fair enough, I misinterpreted it, but OP you'll have to have been trying got at least a year to get looked at unless you're over 35.

The average time for conception is 6 months to a year so it's not that unusual.
This is my 5th pregnancy (although only 1 living big child). With my DD it was the 1st month. The next took 3 months, the next was 4-5 month and again the next time was 1st month, but this pregnancy took 7 months. The only pregnancy I tracked on was this one funnily enough! Don't get too disheartened. My bestie tried for just over a year and she now has a beautiful little boy.

I am not going to lie i was actually looking into going private as i dont want to waste any nhs time or money . I thought having some test done just to put my mind at ease as i know i am being paranoid but i cant help ot . I contacted some private clinics but they still want gp referal so i will probably pay for consultation at the private clinic as well .do do not worry i wont be wasting any nhs time
