I almost put this in arts and crafts, seeing as how we talk about crochet as much as we talk about babies!

imps you are so organised!
I can't remember num of pads in a day but it definitely wasn't as many as I expected and less of the thick ones more of the thiner ones. I brought far too many of both sorts to be honest.

cartoontrickster · 11/08/2016 09:45

Here's one tip, I had baths with lavender and tea tree oil with a little full fat milk to help the healing (2nd degree tear).

True beedle if you deliver in the next few weeks all nappies clothes etc would be way too big.

I'd pack two packs of maternity pads for the hospital. I think you'd get through nowhere near that much but no harm. I seem to remember people put two in a row to get a longer coverage iyswim.

Imps I think leaving a note on the bag of last minute things to bring is a good idea, ie things you can't pack in advance like notes and phone etc.

Lol loopy at not having a bag packed at 39 weeks! How are you doing, feeling any implantation?

So I mentioned my is-baby-transverse worries to the head mw at work. We were in a meeting so not appropriate to palpate me but she said my shape looks normal. I do keep feeling hiccups to the side though, surely that's a bit odd

My bag will just be
Me - bikini top in case I want it (think I was just naked last time), flip flops, pyjamas I can bf in, going home clothes, couple pairs manky pants, mat pads, won't bother with breast pads as I don't leak, toiletries, maternity notes, phone+charger, change for parking, snacks and drinks, hot water bottle, lansinoh nipple cream
Baby - babygro (one newborn one 0-3 in case massive), vest x2, hat, blanket, cardigan, car seat, nappies, cotton wool, Vaseline (for meconium)

I guess you could bring books, music etc. After baby is born though as beedle says no need for any of that

Girls, this is getting real

keepitgoing · 11/08/2016 10:08

And the weeing in the shower/pouring water on yourself while you wee. I had grazes which were vv painful with wee for a couple of days

Beedle are you doing NCT equivalent?
Imps I think you decided no, right?

cartoontrickster · 11/08/2016 10:14

I was just about to say that keep although I didn't feel the need to do that in the end.

Imps9 · 11/08/2016 10:19

We found a weekend course in the end Keep which starts on Sunday. We were free for all of the sessions (unlike the September course where we'd have missed two) so thought we'd give it a go.

cartoontrickster · 11/08/2016 10:20

Is it cabbage leaves in the bra? I can't remember if that's right. Are you all hoping to breast feed?

Imps9 · 11/08/2016 10:33

I will aim to breastfeed but have not got my heart set on it and won't be upset if I can't but for the fact that breast milk is free and you have to pay for formula

Oooh cabbage leaves in the bra! I might go one step further and do a full floral display.

keepitgoing · 11/08/2016 10:34

Cabbage leaves? What for?

Yes, am assuming I'll bf again, fed kip till 18m, and she's talking about wanting to do it again when the baby's here (no thanks!)

keepitgoing · 11/08/2016 10:35

Ooh exciting imps!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 11/08/2016 10:37

There isn't really an equivalent to nct here but we're booked in for some antenatal classes via the mw starting in the middle of Sept. Not sure how much opportunity there will be for bonding with the other people as it is 8-10am and I imagine most people will be going straight to work afterwards.

Smallest baby clothes are in the wash, it's a nice day here but I think hanging them on the washing line might be considered strenuous so they can go in the tumble dryer!

Cabbage leaves from the fridge help with sore engorged boobs, apparently.

Imps9 · 11/08/2016 10:52

Maybe something a bit like this. It would take my mind off sore nips, anyway.

cartoontrickster · 11/08/2016 10:57

Hahaha beautiful!

I also used all unscented toiletries to begin with cos babies learn the scent of their mother so used nothing to get in the way of that iyswim.

Imps9 · 11/08/2016 11:18

Oooooh blimey would never have thought of that Trix. I might treat myself to a Superdrug outing at lunchtime. My face stuff is all unscented as I have horribly sensitive skin, but body stuff isn't.

cartoontrickster · 11/08/2016 11:55

I think it was my aunty that told me that one. I can't think of anything else for now.
I'm sure we will all over pack myself included when the time comes, but it's hard to know exactly how long you will be in for and also what you need/want to be comfortable while your there will be slightly different for all of us.
I guess flip flops could be a better option than slippers, easy to get on and off and can be worn in the shower if you want to.

BeedlesPineNeedles · 11/08/2016 12:33

Does anyone have any suggestions for a stretchy nursing/sleep bra? Currently wearing a 34F but I understand that my boobs may grow lots at first. (I have had the magicbooblady treatment so that size is right for now!)

And I have some newborn sized vests and babygrows, do you think it's worth me ordering a few tiny baby things now? (Due to the complete lack of shops that even sell multi-pack baby clothes, let alone at anywhere near UK prices). Baby will almost certainly be delivered at the latest at 38 weeks or even 36 weeks if I'm kept in (don't want to think about earlier than that yet)

OP posts:
cartoontrickster · 11/08/2016 13:21

Hmmm I like to be organised and if it's not readily available might be a good idea. I can't remember how many weeks you are at the moment?? What has baby bs growth been like so far. I'm wondering how small you might need to buy. X

Imps9 · 11/08/2016 13:22

Yes - I reckon get 4 or 5 tiny baby things and then if Babybeedles is tiny you can order some more if necessary. You can prob get some EBay bargains or something.

Imps9 · 11/08/2016 13:25

Oh, I had a look in H&M for nursing bras, but they only did them with back size 36 or bigger in the shop and I'm 32 at the mo. They may have more choice online.

I have bought some unscented shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, shower gel and body lotion. I only hope that my natural scent does not turn out to be totally minging.

Imps9 · 11/08/2016 13:30

You can buy lots of brand new and second hand teeny baby things on Ebay - here - presumably delivery to Sweden will be an option in most cases.

BeedlesPineNeedles · 11/08/2016 13:49

trix I'm 27+3, I've only had my bump measured once and it was ever so slightly above the average line. Me and mrb are fairly average sized so I'm not expecting a huge baby (or a really tiny for gestation one either).

I was thinking of ordering some stuff from M&S as they have free delivery to here at the moment. I was holding out for a 20% off but it feels a bit better to get the few things I was already planning to buy now. And add a pack or 2 of tiny sleepsuits. Though the newborn stuff already looks tiny enough!

OP posts:
cartoontrickster · 11/08/2016 14:06

Ah right so there's a fair bit of time then even if they do cs at 36wks. It's hard to guess how small baby could be. I've had a look at the sizing on some web sites to refresh my memory but I'm sure they are slightly different and vary from each other anyway. I brought N some smaller clothes when they decided I was having a small baby. They were approx 7.5lbs and were big. Approx 5lb size fitted him better. I see the m&s tiny size is around 6.5lbs I think that sounds a good start.
My scans and bump measurement were average until 30 something weeks.
