go and spend a tenner on just one single Clear Blue Pregnancy Test..??..no sooner had I left the chemist's when I felt the dull backache of AF looming....
AF is due either today or tomorrow ( my cycle seems to be anywhere between 28-30 days these last few months)but I know I'm not pregnant. Didn't stop me stumping up an ill-afforded tenner though did it?

DP and I have been trying for no.4 for over 6 months now and I'm beginning to wonder whether at 36 I've missed my chance..?

I know the sensible thing would be to save that unopened test for next month or at least a month where I'm hopeful, but I also know I'm gonna be peeing on that stick some time today and cringing at the two words...NOT PREGNANT that so cruelly loom...

Rant over - please offer any comments, advice or just a plain ticking off for me being a silly moo.

If you open it the clear blue fairy will be after you
(I can't talk though

mumto3girls · 25/01/2007 13:37

Have you done similar?

I have two children (aged 15 and 12) from a previous relationship. My current DP and I have a dd (20 months) together but would like another. It took going through three miscarriages and the accompanying heartache to get her.
It just depresses me now that I may have to go through similar to get another child or perhaps never have another....I do appreciate that I have three beautiful children but DP would dearly love to have another child and so would I.

I'm quite new on here though I'vce lurked for months why will Clear Blue Fairy get me?

whoopsfallenoveragain · 25/01/2007 13:39

The clearblue fairy is there to try and stop you from testing early!
I bought & did a test on Monday bfn no due til the weeken but did another yetserday and got a bfp
have just ordered some cheap ones from ebay to double check with though!

MrsBadger · 25/01/2007 13:40

The ClearBlue Fairy lies in wait for people taking pg tests when they know they're not pg, and belts them over the head with her wand .

She also provides glittery Moral Support Dust to help people hold off testing till AF is appropriately late, and rewards them with sparkles etc if they manage it.

mumto3girls · 25/01/2007 13:47

Congratulations on the BFP - that's fantastic news!!

So you're not even due AF til the weekend...what made you test? Hidden instincts or just impatience?

OP posts:
ClearBlueFairy · 25/01/2007 13:49

Honestly!! The minute my back is turned and I am tucking into lunch... someone buys a pg too early!!

Mumto3girls... ok, so you have bought the test... but that does not mean that you have to use it. Pack it away!! In fact, get your DP to hide the blasted thing until you need it!!!

Tempation too strong????

MrsBadger, I am very grateful for such a glowing description! Some days I feel I could use some postive PR! Moral Support Dust is far nicer than Common Sense Dust

Whoops... congrats on the BFP... but you mustn't tell people you tested early!!

ClearBlueFairy · 25/01/2007 13:50

pg test I should have said... if we could bug pg's then I think we'd all be in debt!!

ClearBlueFairy · 25/01/2007 13:51

What made her test?? Sheer bloodymindedness

whoopsfallenoveragain · 25/01/2007 13:51

Impatience really!
I had an inclining as I haven't got the af symptoms as I would normally have plus the last few days I've been feeling knackered & more sick than normal!
Still won't believe it til I've tested again after the weekend!

mumto3girls · 25/01/2007 14:28

Well, as you all knew i would . Took the test.

BFN.

I've changed my mind, I don't think it's Greedy anymore.

Sorry about the BFN Mumto3girls , it's always hard to see that even if you knew your chances were slim this cycle. Hope you get your BFP soon

Ready · 25/01/2007 15:15

No, I'm not sure it's greedy now either. I was convinced before.

Mumto3girls, while I don't think you should have tested (CBF is a dear friend ), I wanted to say that at 36 you haven't missed your chance. Not at all!!!! Hang in there. I am sure you know better than me all the averages for ttc, so 6 months isn't a long time in the grand scheme of things... but have you thought about visiting your GP for a chat?

clearbluedevil · 25/01/2007 15:25

The Clear Blue Devil encourages testing BUT reminds you all the BFN is only a BFN when when Fat Aunt Flo starts to sing.

sahmtotwo · 25/01/2007 15:31

mumto3girls you definatly haven't missed the boat. I'm 42 and expecting DC3. I had DS1 when I was 37. I have a history of m/c's to. Up to 6 early m/c's a year. So please don't give up hope, six months is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Are you aware of when you ovulate? Do you monitor the changes in your vaginal discharge?

clearbluedevil · 25/01/2007 15:38

So..... how long before you're going to be tempted to test again???

Good excuses no. 1: Well, I didn't use the first pee of the day - so maybe I'd better do another test tomorrow morning

mumto3girls · 25/01/2007 16:13

why the mention of greedy? i don't understand?

i won't test again this month. when i am pg i get positives very early....
I am thinking of consulting GP...what will they do though inn the first instance?

JoAndTheBoys · 25/01/2007 16:17

'Greedy' is a MN'er - greedyforbabies

Ready · 25/01/2007 16:20

mumto3girls... MrsMc and I had thought on a different post that the "clearbluedevil" was "greedyforbabies"AKA "greedy" in disguise... but now we are not sure it is her... hence "not sure it is greedy"... sorry for the confusion.

I am no expert, but after 35 I think that the GP should refer you for tests after 6months of ttc with no luck. I suppose it depends on where you live too. It can't hurt to pop in for a chat, especially as you are concerned about "missing your chance"

Sorry if this is too nosy, but do you monitor your cycle, so you know when you ovulate? charting your basal body temperature? ovulation prediction sticks? etc?

mumto3girls · 25/01/2007 19:32

Hi Ready

No, at present I don't do any of the temps and ovulation sticks etc but I'd already decided to start as of this month.

Does anyone have any comments regarding using a persona machine?

i think there is a whole thread on personas mumto3girls!

Ready · 26/01/2007 10:53

Good luck mumto3girls... as Greedy said there is a thread dedicated to persona...

persona thread

I haven't got any experience myself, but everyone on these threads is so lovely, I am sure they'll help out!

Greedy!! Sorry I thought it was you and it's not. 'fraid the devil is not me... bit miffed that I don't know who it is though... I was convinced it was you trying to wind me up!! Sorry again.

mumto3girls · 26/01/2007 14:34

Thanks Greedy and Ready. I have started a thread asking advice on which is bext out of the Persona and Clearblue....

Af still not here. Quite often my cycle jumps between 27 and 30 days..most annoying.
