Forbidden foods:

  • piggywiggy aka jamon serrano and other cured meats
  • runny eggs
  • rare meat
  • liver
  • raw shellfish
  • most exciting cheese

So all the delicious things... Boo-hoo-hoo!

pickle there is a Spanish saying "el que no llora no mama" = baby that does not cry does not get fed. You are not annoying and you are the most important person they are dealing with Grin

I agree pickle. You need to speak up. It's a very important thing you are doing.

pickle162 · 12/09/2016 21:57

Ah yes those foods, I think I would miss goats cheese most and Parma ham type foods
Thanks love, I think cos I work in healthcare and get fed up with people thinking they are the only ones that exist but yes u need to fight for what u want....hopefully they will just contact me tomorrow and I can add the date to my countdown app :)

INeedNewShoes · 13/09/2016 00:03

Pickle - you and I are peas in a pod I think. Once I take action on something I become a bit obsessive about it. I don't think that's a bad thing! Just call the clinic tomorrow Smile

Kwick - good news! Runny eggs are now allowed! Twas on the news a few weeks ago Smile

Thanks for your triple concern re my meds Grin You must have sensed that I need support! I am getting huge bruises (the size of an egg but flat) sometimes after the injections. Sometimes I don't bruise at all though. Have you discovered anything that makes the difference between bruising and not?

INeedNewShoes · 13/09/2016 00:12

Astrid - welcome to the thread Smile

On the whole my clinic have been brilliant on everything including replying to emails the same day, returning phone calls and answering my questions.

I did have a communications blip with them recently though where there was a mix up with my request to use a specific sperm donor Confused which is quite a major mistake. In their defence though they told me of the mix up before the insemination and gave me the opportunity to not do that cycle or to use a different donor so they handled their mistake as well as they could really.

If you've committed financially to three cycles with your clinic you'll just have to make sure you keep on top of everything with the clinic. Don't be scared to be pushy and to question things.

It sounds as though it could be one dozy administrator. It would be worth flagging the issues to the management as if no one ever lets them know they could be blissfully unaware of the admin errors.

INeedNewShoes · 13/09/2016 00:15

Ha Kwick - what you call 'exciting cheese' I fondly call 'scary cheese' not because of its risks in pregnancy but because I am a little bit of a wuss with the stronger tasting cheeses.

I do miss goats cheese though.

kwick · 13/09/2016 06:56

shoes the new injection technique I am using for Clexane is really helping - grab fat, blunt edge of needle pointing downwards, go in at 90 degrees, withdraw needle, release fat, no rubbing!!!! Different spot each time - I try to rotate tummy sides. I am still bruising but much less than before.
Wish I could say the same for my intramuscular Prontogest applications - swelling, bruising, itching!!!

Yay to runny eggs!!!

I love me a stinky cheese!!!

I may have POAS this morning: BFN

late ok, so I have been really open with the fam. Mother hit the roof, thought I was bonkers for wanting kids (she is a mum of 5 and doesn't like children, though is the best mother ever - go figure) so spent 2 months being horrendous trying to get me to change my mind.

She got on board once she realised I was doing it anyway and wasn't talking to her about it (she hates not knowing things) and now discusses possible sperm donors pros and cons over dinner.....! Rest of the family as a whole are fine. Friends all very supportive.

Work, well Ive been honest with my team and boss that Im looking at starting this process (IVF) for a few reasons (mostly the time I would need off work, the crazy making meds and the fact that I can't travel to Brazil and mexico because of Zika) and they have all been receptive and supportive. They know I'm single at the moment and one of the girls actually asked me about a father and I said I hadn't decided yet between donor or friend - they don't need to know my decision.

My mum will come to clinic if I want her to, but i have my sister in law who is a nurse, and best of all a good friend who is 8wks along on her IVF - so I shall not be lonely!

Hope everyone is good!

INeedNewShoes · 13/09/2016 13:47

Thanks Kwick. I don't envy you with the Prontogest - it sounds painful Sad

You're still quite early to be testing as you know so you are still in the running. 3 days before AF is due is the earliest I've had a BFP.

I missed Late's question about who have we told... I told all of my close friends plus my parents and siblings last Spring/Summer once I had made the definite decision to go ahead. My mum said, and I quote 'Oh yes, we wondered when you would do that'! which was fab because it showed they had already thought it through and were supportive. All but one friend was fully supportive, and that friend softened once I was pregnant last time.

I wanted to gauge the level of support I had before I started treatment, because my friends and family are going to be a very important support network once a baby arrives. I also didn't want to be announcing that I was pregnant and then be having to immediately explain how I was pregnant to avoid speculation about me finding a random chap down the pub!

I have been apprehensive about telling some people, like my church-going friends (one is a vicar's wife) as I was worried that they wouldn't respond well as I don't think the bible condones this sort of thing! But they've been fine.

At work, my immediate boss knows but she is also a friend and supportive and trustworthy. I also needed her support in swapping working days etc. One of the HR team knew about the miscarriage but not the method of conception.

Late - I hope you are doing ok Smile

I've got my fingers crossed so tightly for news of two sets of BFPs this week on this thread Smile

kwick · 13/09/2016 18:23

shoes I know I was well early testing but I just could not resist the urge!!!!

So you know how one of my bosses and I had a not so great encounter by phone on Friday, I shared with my main boss, so she had awareness should it go even more pear shaped. Feel a little better now but still very uneasy.

You know how we were talking about FC fcuk ups? I have had 2 in one day!!!! Firstly thyroxine prescription was wrong. Second: had wierd voicemail yesterday about Cryos (sperm bank I initially used), so I left a message with nurses about both and now consultant thinks I have a query about crinone gel - talk about chinese whispers. She told me to call her back - well I do not have her contact details - do not even really know her name. Have sent a clarification email to the info mail address...

Ow kwick still very early.... I would be exactly the same and prob test every day but those little hormones need to progress and won't be ready yet so keep on plodding along until Sunday!Flowers
So.....I didn't hear from them and then ran out of time to call them Confused so will have to wait until tomorrow and if don't hear by a certain time will have to take the plunge! Damn it why aren't these clinics in 24/7 for us when we have our questions/obsessions/freak outs etc
Hope everyone's OK in this ridiculous heat!!!

StorkAhoy · 13/09/2016 21:18

Evening all!

Just had the best news today. My friend who is doing IVF had her 8wk scan and found out its twins! Fingers are crossed everything goes well for her. I love good news stories!

pickle162 · 14/09/2016 01:43

Awe lovely news stork Star twins tho eeeeekkk! Is she in single boat too or have a partner as that makes it less scary if there is 2 of you Hmm

kwick · 14/09/2016 06:53

Lovely news stork

I have taken the executive decision to test again on Friday am - that way if BFP I can get appointment for meds on Monday - I only have enough to last through Sunday and I will have to double up on cyclogest as I will have run out of crinone.

Sitting at heathrow airport... Knackered and stressed. Happy Wednesday everyone!

I've had a bit of a nightmare week when I would have really loved a drink! I had to suspend someone at work, hearing supposed to have taken place but was postponed. I've been eating at odd times and I haven't been sleeping well as well as usual - waking early, finding it hard to drop off, waking in the night - so I have been feeling absolutely knackered and very slightly dizzy all the time. Last night I slept from 9pm to 7am and woke up still feeling shattered.

There is an absolutely logical reason for physically feeling like this, but a tiny part of me is hoping that it might be a symptom of something else. I got a negative from FRER yesterday, but I'm not giving up until Friday...

Hope everyone else is well!

INeedNewShoes · 14/09/2016 12:43

Late - as we always say, you're not out till you're out. I think I remember us saying that to Cloud who eventually got a BFP on her OTD.

The heat won't be helping you to feel well either. It's too early for dizziness/sickness relating to pregnancy - that can only happen once the HCG really kicks in (at which point you'll get a very definite line on a test).

We all symptom spot though, however hard we try not to!

Nausea kicked in for me yesterday. I feel disgusting to varying levels pretty much all the time. I am not complaining though!

Kwick - I hope your trip goes ok. I am in awe of the way you travel around so much for work. I don't think I'd cope! Good plan to test again on Friday.

Latenightreader · 14/09/2016 17:00

Thanks shoes - I was pretty sure they were unrelated and I should just make sure I'm eating and sleeping properly! I definitely have Friday on my mind...

pickle162 · 14/09/2016 18:37

I have my informal 1-2-1 bkd yayyyyyyyy.... I rang in the end but made some excuse about i had 5 mins in my clinic so thought it would be easier to book someone over the phone rather than email. She was totally lovely and made me feel like I wasn't a lunatic ringing.she said I could have a chat over the phone if easier than coming to the clinic but I said I wanted to come so it's not all new when want to start for treatment.
So it's booked for 26/9, she even made it the morning rather than 2.30 when originally offered so I don't get stuck in the traffic. So excited!!!!!

kwick · 15/09/2016 07:58

late it is impossiible not to symptom spot! Here's to a BFP on Friday!!
Sorry you have been having a tough time! Dealing with disciplinary issues is never fun! I am actually on site this week conducting an investigation which may also result in taking action... Very uncomfortbale situation and I slept fitfully (again) last night.

shoes sorry about morning sickness but yay isnt that a good sign?

Yipee pickle how exciting!!!!!

OP posts:
Latenightreader · 15/09/2016 09:45

It's all looking unlikely for me because AF arrived last night. The one positive is that I can now have a glass of wine when I go out for a meal on Friday...

Karendvm · 15/09/2016 12:18

Oh late. I'm sorry to hear that. i was really hoping this was the one for you.

Karendvm · 15/09/2016 12:19

pickle congrats on getting the first step arranged. That's exciting for you.

shoes happy to hear the morning sickness has arrived. Always a good, healthy sign.

INeedNewShoes · 15/09/2016 13:59

Oh Late, that's so disappointing. Sorry that luck wasn't on your side this time Flowers

They do say it takes on average five attempts, so it's far too soon feel anywhere near defeated. Well done you for focusing on the wine Smile Have some pate and a nice rare steak while you're at it, and a cheese fest.

Did you have a hycosy/HSG before you started your IUIs?

kwick · 15/09/2016 14:04

So sorry late Flowers

Am in a fricking awful work situation... Barely slept and have stinking headache. Just want to be home with a cup of decaff tea.

OP posts:
INeedNewShoes · 15/09/2016 14:15

Kwick - just remember to look after yourself as well as you can. Even though the situation is stressful try not to react physically to that stress (if that makes any sense whatsoever). Calm breathing, rest when you can, plenty of fluids, eat properly and don't waste energy worrying about things that are beyond your control. Just do what you can, in as calm a way as possible.

Sorry, sounds very preachy but people had to say the same to me last week when I was massively stressing about something.

When will you be back home?
