back to the UK for me 2moro. Had a lovely time xx although I had the worst AF whilst over here 😳 pissed off because I could have started my last 50mg cycle of clomid!!!! now ive got a feeling ill have to take noreathestarone again. anyone had really violent cramps and bleeds following from clomid? xx

danigrace · 08/10/2016 19:13

omg Boggle glad you're okay! Still no AF... I think I'll give it one more week then just start taking everything as if it's day one and hope it jumps into ovulation and a period follows (or preferably a pg lol).

Elly sounds like you had a productive appt, that's great! Was it day 1 & day 21 bloods you had? Do they do ultrasounds at your GP or will you have to go for one at the hosp?

Amy so glad you've had a good holiday but so sorry to hear about your cramps & period timing!!

YouBoggleMyMind · 08/10/2016 19:55

amy, welcome back. Hope you enjoyed your holiday. Sounds like a horrific period! Even my period after the chemical pregnancy wasn't as bad as yours sounds! I hope you're ok?

dani, get taking that stuff now! Lol

Xxx

OP posts:
Elly1685 · 09/10/2016 17:53

Yeah Dani you should get taking that stuff again if it works.

Reached a milestone today - 100 days and no af! Triple figures Hmm ! -anyone else ever had a cycle that long or longer??

It was just a regular blood test to check thyroid, LH and something else starting with F? But it was all normal. They can't do a day 1/21 yet as they don't know where I am in my cycle.

I think the ultrasound will be at a hospital or the nearby medical centre as I don't think my GP can do it there.

Hope everyone's ok xx

YouBoggleMyMind · 10/10/2016 09:10

I went a year without AF. My GP was not concerned, however when this came up at the fertility clinic, they were a bit shocked and was given provera to start straight away.

OP posts:
Moomin37 · 10/10/2016 19:19

I also went a year without AF
Ellly but after a few months paid for a private consultation - the best £400 I've ever spent (it included an internal scan) as the bloods my GP said were 'normal' we're not and after asking some questions the consultant gave me a diagnosis. I was immediately put on a waiting list for a lap and dye and started Clomid and then Menopur injections after that. Who knows, perhaps your bloods are normal, but in my case I'm so glad I got a second opinion as my GP surgery was useless and uninterested (BTW I don't have PCOS - I have hypothalamic amenorreah). I wish you the best of luck Smile

PS If you're wondering who on earth I am, I'm one of the original ladies from this thread!

Waves to everyone else Smile

PurpleRainy · 10/10/2016 19:23

I am 5 dpo and have a really swollen stomach with left sided abdo pain( the side I ovulated from). Anything to worry about?

Elly1685 · 10/10/2016 21:27

Hi Moomin,

Gosh you both had no af for a year? Is that normal? I didn't think doctors were meant to leave it that long!

My husband has suggested we pay to go private but I've told him in the grand scheme of things it's only early days for me so we are just waiting to see what happens! I will see what the ultrasound shows up.

Hope you're ok purplerain xx

PurpleRainy · 10/10/2016 21:33

Thanks Ely it's died off a bit but still feeling odd. Worried I have ohss

YouBoggleMyMind · 10/10/2016 21:40

No, it's definitely not normal but can be typical of pcos. Sadly GPs don't tend to have the specific knowledge and it all gets tucked under the come back when it's been a year label.

Hi moonin, really nice to hear from you. How are you and baby? Xxx

Seahawk80 · 10/10/2016 21:52

Hi there, mind if I join?

I'm 35 and I was diagnosed with pcos about a month ago. On my first cycle with metformin. Cycles can be anything from 30-60 days. I had a scan to confirm diagnosis and now waiting for a refferal to gynaecologist for more scans. Doctor has said she'll start me on clomid in January if nothing has happened by then.

My sister has pcos and has two daughters both conceived with clomid so there is hope! ive found it a bit hard recently though. My younger sister is pregnant with her second and I've been trying not to drink to help lose weight and help with TTC but I think people are assuming I'm pg which is beyond frustrating.

danigrace · 10/10/2016 22:13

Hi girls, yeah you're probably right... I'll just cut my entirely mental losses and start again tomorrow. I think I've just not been wanting to admit it to myself bc I won't have had a period in time to have this test I'm supposed to ring for before my next appt when I was hoping for clomid but that likely won't happen now.

How are you Boggle? Are you taking another clomid round atm?

Elly yes I've gone that long but not as long as some of the others. I hope your ultrasound referral comes through fast. Luckily my experience with the nhs so far has, on the whole, been very good & GP wrote my referral after 5 months of trying.

Hi Moomin how are things with you now? Hope baby is good

YouBoggleMyMind · 10/10/2016 22:20

Yeah, I'm on cd10 and got a scan on Wednesday. Feeling nervous about it all. I don't think I can go through what happened last cycle again. I will tell them about the chemical pregnancy on Wednesday at my scan so they have all the information for my file.

PurpleRainy · 10/10/2016 22:22

Thats hopeful hawk. Dani the pain has died off god knows im full expecting a period next week i just cant believe clomid will workConfused

Seahawk80 · 11/10/2016 08:50

Thanks for the welcome!

Elly sounds like you're at a similar stage to me. I just got a letter telling me when the ultrasound was, I think it was about a month after my GP reffered me - the letter came about 2 weeks beforehand. It depends on where you live. When you get the letter it will say how many days it will take to send the results to yourGP. If you're anything like me and have to get an appointment really early before work which is hard to get, make an appointment once you have the scan date so that you don't have to wait longer than necessary for the results. Also it is normal for them to write to you to say

Seahawk80 · 11/10/2016 08:51

That the results are in and will be discussed at your next appt. I didn't realise this and convinced myself that they had found something awful!

HighHopes16 · 11/10/2016 11:45

Morning all, Can I join? I'm on another TTC thread but as my journey isn't straightforward I think I would fit in better here.

My story - I have always suspected I had PCOS as I suffered with many of the symptoms. After tests in 2014 were inconclusive I tried to put it to the back of my mind when DH and I started ttc for the first time in Jan 2016.
We were over the moon when I got a BFP in June, but then the bleeding started & a scan confirmed I was going to miscarry. I opted for an ERPC but 14 weeks later I am yet to see AF and am unsure if I have ovulated in that time.
I had a follow up scan which showed many cysts on my ovaries and that I may have retained products (as my womb lining was still thickened.)
I am awaiting a referral on the nhs to gyno to discuss how to deal with retained products, and then when I get the all clear my GP said he will refer me to Endo to discuss the possibility of pcos and get treatment.
The waiting time is approximately 18 weeks so in the meantime I am trying the natural remedies (Agnus Castus, Inositol, low GI diet) to get my cycle back to normal and hopefully give us the best chances to conceive again.

YouBoggleMyMind · 11/10/2016 11:54

Welcome high, all our stories are different but we'll all try to help and support you.
I'm really sorry about your miscarriage. Must be heartbreaking.
I hope you get your referral through quickly and don't have to wait the full 18 weeks.

Nutcracker20167 · 11/10/2016 13:43

Hello, is it ok for me to join this thread? I'm new to this, but have found these threads so helpful over the past year. I've had a tough time since coming off the pill 18 months ago, periods kind of regular, every 35-40 days. But some gradual signs of pcos. Mainly acne, which to some people might not look that bad, but for me, having never suffered with spots has been the hardest thing of all to deal with. I'm fit and healthy, not over weight, but have put on extra around the tummy. Had some blood tests earlier in the Summer, one set came back normal, the others couldn't pin point ovulation. Have tried Agnus Castus, did definitely help, but still no pregnancy. I have booked a private consultation this Saturday which includes a scan. And will start acupuncture on Thursday. NHS Gynae appt is not until December. Having remained positive all year long, I can say I'm also getting to the point now where I'm feeling down and concerned about the future. I hope my scan on Saturday will shed some light for me. I wanted to ask, has anyone gone private for the scan, but then continued other treatments via the NHS, will my private scan be accepted by the NHS Gynae? And anyone tried acupuncture?

HighHopes16 · 11/10/2016 14:55

Thanks for the warm welcome Boggle - It was heart breaking but clearly just wasn't meant to be.
Welcome Nut, Could I ask how much your private scan is costing you? I've been looking at a few local clinics that offer them as I don't really want to wait 18 weeks for the nhs scan. They advise if further treatment is required, a full report will be sent to your gp.

Nutcracker20167 · 11/10/2016 15:08

Hi HighHopes. £360 which includes a full consultation, other lady check ups plus the ultra sound scan. I told them I particularly wanted to discuss pcos and fertility and am seeing a Gynae who specialises in such.

AmyC86 · 11/10/2016 15:37

Hi ladies xx welcome to all the newbies!!! seems to be filling up nicely again on here, it was looking a bit low on the ground seeing a few of our original members got theyre lucky BPFs. I'm sure you'll feel right at home here xx a lot of your stories sound like a mixture of mine and everyone elses stories xxx

As for the 100+ date for AF - I've definitely had this happen before.

No one has said if their AFs following clomid have been horrendous, am I lucky to even have an AF following clomid - even though it's been weeks following a regular cycle?

Dunno weather to wait and see if I'm going to have another AF or go straight into norethisterone?! what do you think?

Seahawk80 · 11/10/2016 18:27

Thanks Amy this seems like a really nice thread Smile

In regard to the NHS accepting the private scan it may depend on your hospital. I had a scan which confirmed pcos at my local hospital. They also found a polyp which my GP said isn't serious but she wants me to see a gynaecologist about it before prescribing clomid. She's reffered me to a different hospital as they are quicker but said they will want to do their own scan. Seems ridiculous to me and this kind of thing is probably why the NHS has such long waits. However if you have already had a private scan at least you'll know the results, going for my second one next week
And am much more relaxed about everything than the first one.

I'd be interested to hear how the private consultations go as although the NHS have been pretty good up until now I am considering a private appointment for extra advice.

Seahawk80 · 11/10/2016 18:31

Ps High I just checked my latest referral letter and it says 18 weeks is the maximum waiting time according to the NHS charter, hopefully they can get you in quicker. If not it could be worth asking your doctor if there's another hospital that's quicker even if it is a bit further

danigrace · 11/10/2016 22:35

Boggle hope all goes well tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you!

Purple have faith, you'll get there!

Hopes my goodness, so sorry to hear that Flowers It sounds like you've got a great attitude and are doing all the best things you possibly can.

Welcome Nutcracker if you like natural therapies give 'tribulus pcos' a google and have a read, you take it day 5 to 14 to help encourage ovulation & you can take it alongside your agnus castus. Also 2-3 evening primrose oil tabs throughout first half of your cycle (one with each meal) increases your fertile cervical mucus.

Amy are you all settled at home now? I've not been given any of the drugs yet so couldn't say xx
