It would be foolish to test on cd28 right?

OP posts:
Moomin37 · 18/09/2016 12:51

I had cramps all the way through early pregnancy Robber and brown spotting the day before OTD, so hang in there Smile

danigrace · 18/09/2016 12:54

OMG Boggle that's fantastic about the opk!!! Something is obviously happening!! woop woop So So excited for you!!

Yes I'm really looking forward to being a birth partner and all it entails! Went on a tour of the hospital's maternity unit the other week, going for her 4D scan with her next Sat (where we'll learn the sex!) then will be attending antenatal classes with her too. A privilege (and all great research!)

Welcome Bluebird, my OH has the moderate sperm thingy too and we're awaiting his second appointment although we'd already been referred to fertility clinic, it's been them who've ordered most of our tests. I have to have the test to make sure my tubes aren't blocked when I start my next cycle and we return to the specialist in Nov with those results and OH's second sa results, and will then get the clomid (if a dream pg hasn't happened before then! a girl can hope! haha). Is it still your GP you're seeing? Our specialist still feels positive about clomid with the moderate sperm result & said it's def still possible to fall pg with those results. Hopefully his second is a bit better, he's been working hard on losing weight and exercising / eating healthier bless him. We were told to DTD every other day and not 2 days in a row to give the sperm chance to recover.

WOWEEE Flo he is so so stunning!! Congratulations!! Flowers Thank you for your kind and inspiring words Smile

Chinny so sorry to hear that? How are thins now? When are you next at the docs/hosp?

Ella how are you feeling? Are you planning on learning the baby's gender?

Satsooma that's great news!! Fingers crossed for ovulation!!

Robber fingers crossed for your 2ww!

Still no AF here (& not pg), getting frustrated!

RobberBride · 18/09/2016 13:02

Boggle CD28 would be 11dpo. If you have a pg test that looks for HCG over 10 mIU/ml (I think Superdrug's cheapies go that low) and test with FMU, you might get an indication. The only risk is at that stage it could be a chemical pregnancy that then fades. Personally I'd take the risk, at least with a chemical I'd know my body could do it!

Dani that feeling of nothing happening is the worst. Sounds like you've got a good consultant though.

YouBoggleMyMind · 18/09/2016 13:32

I've got 3 frer tests waiting in the wings. Do they pick up that amount?

OP posts:
danigrace · 18/09/2016 13:47

Boggle a quick google just said "the First Response at-home pregnancy test is the only one that can detect the hCG in your body at levels as low as 6.5 mIU/ml" so it certainly seems so... wonder if it says on the box anywhere?

YouBoggleMyMind · 18/09/2016 14:03

Just went a read the box and instruction leaflet and it's not mentioned anywhere. Just says you can test upto 6 days before your period. Last 2 cycles have been 27/28 days but I ovulated later this cycle so it's pushed out the date by a couple of days xxx

OP posts:
AmyC86 · 18/09/2016 17:04

boggle I'd wait until after the baby shower and so your 14dpo.

Ladies, I know that I'm going to go off topic here a bit but I'm absolutely livid & need to let off steam......

AmyC86 · 18/09/2016 17:06

I need some advice on a situation at work.
Basically 4 colleague's (me and 3 others) went for a promotion in work. We where given an interview, I think that I was first followed by everyone else. One of the candidates was on holiday at the time of the original interview date so was given a different date, but then couldn't make that date because her DS had an appointment. So she was given a third date of the 13th September, my interview was 2nd September. Everyone else had been interviewed & it was only the one girl left to be interviewed. That 4th girl has asked myself and at least another candidate for "tips" for the interview. I just said that I couldn't remember (she's a rival at the end of the day). The other nurse she has asked has given her all the questions that she could remember, giving the 4th girl rather a large unfair advantage.

I don't yet know if I've been successful or not, but the girl who had the unfair advantage has been successful & the one who told her all the questions hasn't been successful.

I've told my senior this morning but even he's stumped!!

I think that the 4th girl has blatantly cheated & the other girl is also in the wrong xx

AngryAngryAngry

YouBoggleMyMind · 18/09/2016 17:37

That's not cool. What has your senior said? When will you find out if you're successful or not? It's lucky enough that she was allowed to have her interview rearrange several times. I know places that wouldn't do that.

OP posts:
AmyC86 · 18/09/2016 17:51

Well I thought that it was a bit strange for them to re-arrange the interview date not once, not twice but three times. Twice because of holidays fine no problem, but re-arrange everyone's interview to suit so then others aren't waiting for over two weeks for the outcome. I thought that when she couldn't make the second interview she should have been told that she'd have to apply next time!

Hopefully I'll find out through the post on Monday. The other two candidates who know got letters on Saturday. The cheating one rang the manager on Friday morning & got a verbal notification prior to the letter.

Not managed to speak to my supervisor yet, I'll catch him when I get to work later on & let you know.

I doubt that it'll change anything but I just think that they should know they've given a job to a cheat

YouBoggleMyMind · 18/09/2016 18:10

Well fingers crossed you get it, you're doing the right thing by telling your senior as its really not on xxx

Hi everyone Grin,

I am not currently ttc, but thought I'd say hi. I have PCOS and I am quite overweight (a lot really, bmi is 42) so I've been desperately trying to lose a few stone in preperation for when we do start trying. I had a date of around Christmas in my mind (which is our one year wedding anniversary although we have been together for ten years) but now this seems impossible due to my weight. I'm struggling to lose anything and it's really getting me down.

Anyway I just thought I'd say hi and it's nice to hear from other people who are at various stages along a similar road.

satsooma · 18/09/2016 22:21

Welcome kandD! I lost 20kg (3.5 stone) before we started TTC. I wanted to start TTC immediately, but we weren't ready for all sorts of reasons.

I found it really motivating to think that my weight/health was something I could control, and that every bit of weight I lost would make it easier for us to conceive in the end.

If you are struggling to lose weight, don't forget that exercise can also be hugely beneficial for people with PCOS. You can do a lot to improve your fitness even without losing weight.

KandD · 18/09/2016 22:34

Hi satsoona :)

I've been doing slimming world and lost 2.5 stone, then went on holiday in August so put a few lbs back on. Once I got back I started again feeling really motivated to make some real changes by Xmas even if I didn't quite meet my goal.

Husband and I joined the gym as the council built a new one a few miles from us, we have been going religiously three times a week. Have eaten really well with the only exception being a Chinese on hubbys birthday. He has continued eating junk and lost 8lb, I've lost absolutely nothing.

Taking 1500mg metformin a day, plus tracking my intake using MyFitnessPal so I know there is a definite calorie deficit, but still not losing.

Feeling really fed up with it all and no idea where to go next. Started a low carb/low gi diet a few days ago as a last ditch attempt to shift lbs.

satsooma · 18/09/2016 22:52

I know metformin is supposed to help you lose weight, but I've found it really hard to lose anything since I started taking it.

Weight is so tied up with hormone fluctuations and both PCOS and metformin mess with your hormones levels. So don't be too discouraged by this plateau. If Slimming World has been working well for you so far, maybe stick with that a bit longer before trying new diets?

Losing 2.5 stone is a massive achievement. You should be proud of that!

KBookworm · 19/09/2016 07:15

Thanks :) it's a good start I know but I still have an awful lot more to go. I've only increased to 3 metformin over the weekend because I always have to spend a good month building up to it as it makes me stomach bad, so I'm hoping once the larger amount gets into my system then I'll start losing. I just can't get my head around it because if my body has a calorie deficit every day then where is it getting those calories from if I'm not losing weight? It's crazy!

Having the same experiences as everyone else has posted above as well really, everyone I know seems to be pregnant including not one but four women at work! I know I can't know until I start trying, but I just feel that it's an impossible dream at the moment.

Anyway, I have to try and stay positive so I'm off to work now followed by the gym.

Have a good day everyone :)

AmyC86 · 19/09/2016 08:44

Welcome newbie xx

boggle spoke to my supervisor last night. He has alerted management. Management appear to have the 'i knew something like this would happen' look on his face, so it's obviously been discussed before by management. The manager is going to bring it up at the Monday morning meeting for it to be discussed. My supervisor said that it might end up with us all having to be interviewed again. I'm thinking that they could go down the road of giving everyone the promotion. The thing that makes it difficult for them is that they never said on the application how many posts where available.

YouBoggleMyMind · 19/09/2016 09:57

I don't think everyone should get the promotion, purely on how they've acted! It's not really fair is it? Oh well, I guess all you can do is wait and see what happens. Xx

OP posts:
YouBoggleMyMind · 19/09/2016 14:05

I have decided I am not a fan of the 2ww! It's only cd21 and I'm going crazy. I need to know!!!!!!

OP posts:
satsooma · 19/09/2016 14:53

I feel for you boggle. I did not really notice at the time, but the one good thing about no periods for months was that I got a rest from the 2WW and all that nonsense.

Now that they are (fingers crossed) back I am already thinking about dates for ovulation, DTD, POAS, bla bla. It feels like a mix of that fear before having to give a public presentation and the excitement of waiting for Christmas. Not a fan!

YouBoggleMyMind · 19/09/2016 15:14

I think it would prolly be foolish to test on cd28 but there is a huge part of me that wants to anyway. If it's negative then I can wait until after this baby shower xxx

OP posts:
satsooma · 19/09/2016 15:17

what are the arguments against testing on CD28?

YouBoggleMyMind · 19/09/2016 15:30

I ovulated cd17 I think so it's 3 days earlier than I should test really. Cd28 would be 11dpo. Although my last 2 cycles on clomid have been 27 and 28 days. I also don't know that I would cope going to a baby shower if I've got a negative test. But then, if I did it next Monday, I'd have a few days to get over it and compose myself.

OP posts:
satsooma · 19/09/2016 15:59

Personally, I am happy to test from 9dpo. FRERs are around 50% accurate at that point I think. So if I get a BFN, I don't think that I am not pregnant, I think that I tested too early. Then I can go about my day knowing that it is definitely too early to test. I get through a lot of internet cheapies :)

There is always the danger of chemical pregnancies though. My take is that I would be upset, but ultimately happy to know that my body could get pregnant IYSWIM.

But at 11dpo you do have a 50% chance of a BFN. So if you know that you would struggle to see things positively, then it is probably best to wait until after the baby shower.
