No we've literally had nothing checked, the doctor did say I can return with DH to get things rolling but she just didn't seem fussed in the slightest. Also, not sure if I was imagining it but I felt like the Doctor was uncomfortable talking about it - she didn't even offer any advice on how to improve our chances (though I've researched it myself a lot - but she didn't know that!)

We've decided to wait another 6 months - I'm not waiting a year, that's ridiculous. Then we'll go in guns blazing. Sorry to hear about your MC blossom and thank you for your story and comments. I hope that we can be celebrating together in the future :)

Yep SMEP was my next thing, DH is very happy to oblige...obviously. I worry that next cycle may be a write off though as we're not in our own home my fertile week. Visiting his parents in Spain and could be tricky, buuut it may be fun at the same time.

Good luck, what cycle day are you atm?

Skipper how long did you say you've been trying for again? If it's been a while I'd insist on the tests (all the more so if you're healthy weights). Just bc you have tests you don't have to have treatment - & it will let you know if there's something you need to figure out or not. And once you're refered at least it won't be your GP you see!! I'd make another appointment (with a diff doc at the practice) & go with your DH. We're very lucky that our GP was great and did bloods & an ultrasound after 7 months trying & referred me based on those results at 8 months trying (we're 29 & otherwise healthy).

Lingo Welcome! Best of luck to you

Blossom how was your opk?

Vanilla good luck on the September bus xx

ginandcake · 08/08/2016 21:54

I have to agree, in most parts of the country you can't be referred to a fertility clinic until you've been TTC for 2 years (at your age) but they can till organise some initial simple tests like bloods and ultrasound because if that shows anything then they might be able to refer you sooner. I think it would be worth going back in a few months to see someone different.

sk1pper · 08/08/2016 22:03

Blossom - holiday is week after next. You should ovulate just before the weekend if it's on time, hopefully you can DTD in time. Worth getting one or two in now though ;) let us know when you get a positive opk

Dani/Gin - thanks, a lot of people have said the same thing and you've collectively convinced me. We're going to have 2 relaxed cycles to clear my head and then we're going to request a different Doctor or I'll go private.

danigrace · 08/08/2016 22:19

Skipper unless you're flossing I wouldn't go private just yet, don't let one disinterested general practitioner put you off. Can you book appointments online with your GP so you can just manually choose someone else without having to speak to anyone?

Pyjamas81 · 09/08/2016 07:18

And I'm out for this month after a 34 Confused day cycle - AF got me this am as I got another BFN. Onwards to Cycle 2!

sk1pper · 09/08/2016 08:23

Blossom - so on various websites it says that sperm can live up to 5 days but according to SMEP, only a few days. I'm wondering which is more likely. Im going to try DTD 3 consecutive days over O though I always thought it was better to do every other day during fertile week because of the low sperm count as you have already explained. We're going to rebook an appointment this week but chances are they won't be able to fit us in for a while now, I was lucky with the appointment yesterday. Will make sure we both go this time!

Pyjamas - sorry to hear that, still early days though. Why was your cycle so long? Have you just come off the pill?

Pyjamas81 · 09/08/2016 08:49

Thanks sk1pper - am actually half relieved AF arrived as was starting to worry something was wrong! I cam off pill about 3 months ago, I was on it for only about 3 months, but I had Nexplanon implant for three years below that. My body is obviously very confused!

Pyjamas81 · 09/08/2016 08:50

*before that

sk1pper · 09/08/2016 09:37

It's nothing to worry about, your cycles will even out eventually. Actually 34 day cycle isn't bad at all considering you had an implant for so long though if you are worried you could always see a nurse or GP - they may be able to advise how long it takes to get back to a regular hormonal routine. :) all the best for cycle 2, sorry is this your #1?

Pyjamas81 · 09/08/2016 10:01

Thanks sk1pper Smile

Dr said I should get back to normal immediately after the implant/pill, but I'm now seeing that's not the case for many people!

Yep - this is TTC for #1 Smile

sk1pper · 09/08/2016 10:22

It's silly that your Doctor told you that, I'm sure there are people out there who experience a perfect first cycle after contraception but more often than not it's not the case. I wouldn't be disheartened just yet, see what cycle 2 is like but commit just the same - are you going to use OPKs?

Pyjamas81 · 09/08/2016 10:55

Oh yes, definitely using opks given I ovulated on CD10 one month and CD20 the next! Impossible to predict without them!

danigrace · 09/08/2016 11:40

Pyjamas best of luck on the September bus. & I agree with the others that that's totally normal to start out with.

What do people think of that bottom opk? The one above it I did yday afternoon and it was the first of the cycle to have a bit of a line so I did one again later yday eve (the bottom one). I've never actually had a positive opk before. Does that look positive? Or nearly but not quite? Thank you in advance!!

August Bus
sk1pper · 09/08/2016 12:11

Dani - I've got these type of OPKs too. You will probably get a really dark line if you test today, I can normally get it darker than the test line if I time it right. I'd DTD if you haven't already xx

Nell96 · 09/08/2016 12:56

Hi,

Can I join too?

TTC #1
Cycle: 5
CD:31

So, I'm pretty sure I'm 14 do - tested this morning and bfn, again. Feeling really low and in need of moral support! I had such a good feeling about this month - had a whole host of imaginary 'symptoms' - being noticeably clumsy, excessively itchy scalp, mouth ulcers etc. But also some slightly more concrete ones - lots of cramping, but different to the usual AF cramping, which is usually lower down. These cramps are higher up and sharper, sometimes to the left side. Last night I had a couple of really painful jolts right across my tummy, through my belly button. My breasts aren't sore, though they should be the number of times I keep prodding them! Though two days ago I had a really sharp pain going from inside my left breast to the nipple and yesterday my left breast throbbed in a weird way and the nipple was sore, but only for about 30 secs and nothing since, odd... I've burst into tears twice over nothing in the last week and my cm is clear and watery, which seems odd for this time of the month... I don't know, I just feel quite deflated - my husband thinks we should just relax and let nature take it's course and he's completely right - all this symptom spotting is so emotionally draining and not helpful. Just wish AF would show up so we can move on to the next cycle...

danigrace · 09/08/2016 14:17

Welcome Nell - it's not over until AF arrives; sorry about your BFN, this journey can certainly be a rollercoaster can't it?! Last year I discovered some undiagnosed digestive issues that tended to flare up at certain times in my cycle (I got tummy cramps like the ones you describe, an itchy flaky scalp, and heartburn, plus the odd unwelcome migraine) but since I switched my diet up all those symptoms thankfully went away and stayed away. Might not be the case for you but I recognised your symptoms so thought it was worth mentioning.

Skipper Thank you. I did another test about 13:15 and it was lighter. Does that mean that's it for this month opk-wise or is it worth testing again this evening around the time I got yesterdays darker result? Or if it's not darker today will it not get darker at all? Thanks so much for the help!!

Thanks Dani - that's interesting. I'm going to keep an eye on it - I really need to start making a note of these things, I reckon it would help to make little more sense of things.

I've never tried acupuncture Blossom but have always fancied it, would be interested to hear other experiences.
