I've been off the pill for 7 months now (but only TTC for 3) and began charting straight away because prior to being on the pill my AF was very painful and all over the place and I wanted to monitor it. Surprisingly my cycle came back regular but was quite short in length (24/25 days) with a LP of 8 days. After a few months I started 50mg of B6 and my LP increased to 11 days, but with spotting on day 10

I conceived first time of trying but unfortunately lost the pregnancy at 4 weeks. My doctor said this was common and most women will go on to get pregnant within the year. I mentioned the short LP and she said it wouldn't have been the cause, but I'm not so sure.

Is an 11 day LP considered short? Worried about another chemical pregnancy happening and not getting a referral until it's happened 3 times

Just popping on here quickly to see how you're getting on with the IVF Friendly? Have been thinking of you and hoping all is going well.

Hope everyone else is ok x

mrsunsure We've been ttc #2 for about 5 months which I know isn't as long as some but we were incredibly lucky with DD and conceived first cycle so I got it in my head it would happen as quickly this time around.
Before DD my cycles were 30 days now only 25 if I'm lucky, more like 23 and opks have shown me I'm ovulating on CD15 so looks like i have a short LP, no idea what it was before though. I feel like I'm trying to do something more to help with the acupuncture but who knows! It sounds like you have had a really hard time getting to where you are now. I really hope everything goes well for you with this pregnancy.

Interesting to hear the B6 has helped lengthen your cycle coffeeandtea I've started that too so hoping it will help me as well. Sorry to hear about your loss Flowers

Mrs I had the same feeling second time round. Keep positive and I await good news. Friendly and Sunshine would love the head an update, also thinking of you.

sunshinegirl12 · 13/08/2016 09:44

Mrsunsure, I'm so glad to hear you're feeling positive this time, what day is your scan on? Will be thinking of you.

No real news from me, one day I feel quite positive and the next I feel miserable about it all. Luckily we have a holiday planned next week and I'm going to try and forget all this ttc stuff just for a week and behave like a normal person, no obsessive googling, drink as much as I want etc. Had my FSH levels re-tested a couple of days ago so waiting for the results on that and have an appointment with another IVF clinic for when I'm home to hopefully get started on that. Am also changing my acupuncture lady, Mrsunsure I know you credit your BFP to acupuncture but unfortunately it hasn't done a thing for me, but will give it another chance elsewhere. Hmm

Mascara, hope all is well with you, its so nice that you've stuck around.

Also welcome to the other ladies, sorry for rambling on a bit. x

Hi lovely ladies. Sorry for the slow reply in here. I am about mid-way through my 1st cycle of IVF and pleased to report that things seem to be progressing as they should. I was worried I'd be a low responder due to my high FSH and low AMH but I had a scan yesterday and I have 6 good size follicles which hopefully all contain an egg. I've had 10 days of injections and have 3 more to go and I'm booked in for a general anaesthetic to have my eggs collected on Tuesday. Things couldn't have worked out better timing wise as DH is on summer leave and I also have the next 2 weeks off work. DH will provide his sample whilst I'm having my eggs collected and then we have to keep everything crossed that fertilisation happens and we get some good embryos! We will then get a call on Weds morning when we will be told how many embryos we have and the we will have to wait 3-5 days to see how things progress. Hopefully we'll have at least one good quality embryo to transfer back (usually a very straightforward 10 minute procedure) and I'll then do a pregnancy test 10 days after.

It feels so good to be taking positive action steps and I honestly haven't had any side effects from the medication except a very dry mouth when I wake up every morning even though I'm drinking much more water that I usually do. I've even been self injecting as DH works away during the week and for someone with a needle phobia, I'm very proud of myself! I've started acupuncture again with a different lady and find it a much more positive experiences. Still not convinced how much it is really doing to help conceiving but I find it very relaxing and de-stressing which must be a good thing.

Mrs, I have my fingers crossed for you that all is ok at tour next scan. I have a good feeling.

Sunshine, very happy to answer any questions you have about the IVF process. I've found it a breeze so far and have only had to go to the hospital a total of 3 times so far.

Mascara, so nice of you to stick around. Sorry to hear your labour wasn't as smooth as it could have been but hope you are recovering well and enjoying getting to know your little boy.

Thanks again for all your support x

Things sound like they're going in the right direction Friendly, got everything crossed for you.

Mrs good luck with the scan, I'll keep checking in to see.

Sunshine you are doing the right thing, go and have a ball! Life cannot be put on hold! X

Friendlycav · 14/08/2016 18:15

Thank you lovely ladies, I will keep you posted xx

sunshinegirl12 · 16/08/2016 13:17

Thinking of you today Friendly and hope all is going well xx

Friendlycav · 17/08/2016 10:20

Thank you so much. My egg collection procedure yesterday went well. It varies but mine was under a general anaesthetic so there was quite a lot of waiting around, I arrived at the hospital at 7am and left at 12.30pm. They collected 6 eggs which with my AMH and Antral Follicle Count think is pretty good. I've read that they generally aim for 8-15 but the quality of eggs can start to decrease if they get more than this. I've just got a call from the embryologist to say that all 6 fertilised so that is really really great news!! I now need to keep every thing crossed that the embryos continue to develop as they should and transfer will be on Friday or Sunday! Eek I'm so relieved that all has gone well so far but still trying not to get my hopes up.

How is everyone else doing? xx

sunshinegirl12 · 17/08/2016 13:33

Fantastic news Friendly!! Do you know why they gave you a general anaesthetic or is that standard at the Lister? Also, if all the embryos continue to develop, how many will they transfer back into you and will the others be frozen for future use? Sorry for all the questions. So pleased for you though xx

Friendlycav · 17/08/2016 16:04

The embryos still may not develop properly so trying to be realistic but very very relieved all has gone well so far. At the Lister they always do egg collection under general anaesthetic but believe other clinics do it under sedation. Thankfully DH produced a good sample so they just put it in the dish with my eggs and they fertilised 'naturally'. There is also the option of ICSI where they inject the sperm into the egg if the swimmers aren't looking strong etc

At the Lister they generally recommend only transferring 1 good quality embryo but think you can have up to 2 transferred. They only freeze top quality embryos for future use but I don't know much about the grading of embryos yet, I guess I'll find out more over the next couple of days. Eek, please keep your fingers crossed for me! xx

sunshinegirl12 · 17/08/2016 19:33

Keeping everything tightly crossed for you Friendly. Are you still on medication now? x

Friendlycav · 17/08/2016 19:52

Thanks Sunshine xx No medication other than my familiar friend Cyclogest which I started today. I'll take it twice a day until I find out if the cycle has been siccessful.

Thinking of you today Mrs, I really hope all goes well at your scan.

I had a call from the embryologist this morning and they are going to do a day 5 transfer rather than day 3 which would have been today. He said that 3 embryos are doing really well so for the best chance of it working they wait til day 5 transfer where hopefully the embryos will turn into blastocyst and they will choose the one that looks the best quality. Still all so nerve-racking xx

mascaraisamust · 19/08/2016 21:16

Mrs thinking of you, hope all went ok today at the scan.

Friendly sounds positive so far, I have everything crossed for you. Sounds like you have a good team too.

Sunshine hope you're ok xx

Mrs that's great news! Roll on the 12 week scan. I'm good thank you, little man is 5 weeks now and doing great.

Sunshine enjoy your break and have fun! Xx

Friendlycav · 24/08/2016 10:46

Really good news Mrs, so glad all is ok and wishing you all the luck in the world for a successful pregnancy Smile

I had a day 6 embryo transferred to me yesterday which feels quite surreal. It was a top quality blastocyst embryo so I'm keeping absolutely everything crossed that this works, I'll test in 10 days. We were able to freeze another top quality blastocyst as well as 2 other average blastocysts so it feels good to have that as a back up if this doesn't work. The next 10 days until test day will be torture, trying to keep busy!

Enjoy your holiday Sunshine and so pleased to hear your little man is doing well Mascara xx
