I'm going to test this weekend. I'm so so nervous and would do anything to get a positive result. I'm praying the IVF has worked first time.

Mrsunsure, just wanted to pop on here and check how you are? Hope you're ok xxx

Friendlycav · 04/09/2016 21:44

I hope you are ok Mrs. Treatment-wise I am done other than cyclogest which I need to continue with twice a day until I get to 12 weeks. I have to say that I would thoroughly recommend IVF. I found the whole process really easy and I didn't need too many appointments and time out of the office. I'm more than happy to answer any other questions you have xx

I decided to go private Mrs as I felt time wasn't on my side. The treatment was very expensive, around £4.5-5k. I could have had the treatment on the NHS but would have had to wait another year as they want you to try for 3 years, although this depends on where you live and if you have any other medical issues causing infertility. I hope you are ok Mrs, I can't imagine what you are going through. Sending you lots of love xx

sunshinegirl12 · 05/09/2016 13:17

I've got another couple of appointments in the next few weeks, one NHS and one private. I think we are hoping to get in one round of IVF before xmas, the clinic I'm using have a package where you get 3 cycles for the price of 2. I'm just worried about taking time off work as I don't really have any annual leave left and don't want to tell work about it. I suppose I could ring in sick.

To be honest, I'm feeling pretty low at the moment and trapped with it all, work are putting more and more stress on me, I think I spent most of last week crying Sad x

Friendlycav · 05/09/2016 14:16

So sorry to hear this Sunshine, I know exactly how you feel. I have felt so stressed with work and felt like I was on a treadmill with no stop button. Have you thought about telling work? I'm sure they would be really understanding about you taking time off for appointments and it would make the whole thing less stressful.

It's really positive that you have a couple IVF appointments coming up and sounds like you are close to having treatment. I have everything crossed for you xx

sunshinegirl12 · 05/09/2016 18:20

I don't really want to tell them, they can be a bit off with certain things ( when I had a car accident and wanted to pop to A&E to get checked, I was 'told off'!!) so if they are off with me about this I think it might make it even worse. I think I'll speak to the clinic and see what they say re appointment times etc.

Can I just ask you a few questions Friendly - how many days after egg collection was the transfer? How many times did you have to go in to the clinic and how long were the appointments? How did you feel the day after egg collection, do you think you would have been ok to go to work? Lastly, did the clinic mention anything about supplements if you were taking any?

Sorry for all the questions but this seems to be all I can think about at the moment xx

Friendlycav · 05/09/2016 18:54

So happy to answer questions. I suppose every clinic is different and it will vary from person to person but this is my experience:

My transfer was 6 days after egg collection. Unfortunately the transfer date is something you can't plan ahead as the embryologist will want to assess the embryos daily to see how they are doing and some are likely to drop out of the race. Transfer is usually done on day 3 or day 5 after egg collection though and a day 5 transfer is generally considered preferable as the embryo is older and the embryologist will be able to identity the embryo with the highest grading for transfer.

After my initial consultation and excluding egg collection and transfer, I had 3 appointments. My first appointment was about 1.5 hours. It was a scan and included a session with the nurse on how to do the injections. The other appointments were scans to see how my ovaries were responding to the fertility injections and were about 15 mins max. Unfortunately there was one occasion where a sonographer was away so a 15 min appt turned into over an hour :-|

On the day of egg collection, I arrived at the clinic at 7am. I had the general anaesthetic at 9.30am and left the clinic at 12.30. Everyone reacts to general anaesthetic differently and I was ok and probably could have gone into work but I was thankful I took that day off, it was still all quite emotional and felt it important I spend the day with DH.

The only thing my clinic recommended supplement wise is folic acid. I take ubiquinol q10, a prenatal multi vitamin and vit D as well to be sure.

Any other questions, please feel free to ask xx

Friendlycav · 05/09/2016 18:55

Forgot to say that the day after egg collection I felt absolutely fine and would have gone into work if I hadn't been on annual leave x

sunshinegirl12 · 05/09/2016 22:22

Thanks for answering Friendly, it really does help. How are you feeling now, any symptoms? xx
