It's all gone quiet, update us!

Mrs, hope you're ok?

The more people I talk to about the 'issues' I had, the more you realise that people are having the same struggle. My friend announced she was pregnant a few days ago after seven years, a struggle she had kept quiet about and was only vocal about it once the scan had confirmed all was ok. It just makes you think about how many people have issues and don't speak about it.

Hope you're all well xx

sunshinegirl12 · 16/11/2016 19:06

Hello ladies

Sorry for not updating, kept meaning to post, it might be a bit long...

So went in for my baseline scan last week and the large cyst had gone (huge relief!!) so was able to start the IVF. When I went in for my follow up scan a couple of new cysts had shown up and the follicles werent responding well so they gave us the option to cancel the cycle, although we decided to carry on and just up the dose. At my last scan things had picked up a bit so am keeping my fingers firmly crossed for my next scan tomorrow.
Tbh I've been finding the injections a struggle and although they don't hurt it takes a while for me to pluck up the courage to let DH near enough to do it, it doesn't seem to be getting any easier although luckily haven't had any side effects. I'm pretty scared its not going to work Sad but we have paid for a 3 cycle package so if it doesn't work will just have to look at this as a trial run. Sad

Hope you're cycles regulate soon Mrsunsure, it must be very frustrating for you.

Mascara, hope you and your little one are both doing well.

Friendly, how are you? Must be amazing to have your DH back at home xx

Friendlycav · 16/11/2016 19:07

Hi lovely ladies,

Still plodding along here. I had a 32 day cycle after the miscarriage (usually 23/24 day cycle) so I'm thankful that my body seems to be slowly getting back to normal. I'm still trying to get funding for IVF approved on the NHS and should find out the outcome in January. In the meantime, we are trying naturally and hoping for a miracle!

Sunshine, I've been thinking of you and hope you've been able to go ahead with IVF. I really hope all is well.

Mrs, sorry to hear that things haven't quite got back to normal for you after your miscarriage but I'm sure things are moving in the right direction. I'm also trying to take a step back and not obsess about things as ttc really was taking over my life.

Mascara, always good to hear from you. I've been very open with my friends about our struggles to conceive and have found 2 friends who are going through the same. It's definitely more common than you'd think!

Friendlycav · 16/11/2016 20:08

I'm keeping absolutely everything crossed for you Sunshine. I found the scans quite nerve-wracking as you never know how you are going to respond to the fertility injections. I really hope all goes well tomorrow, please keep us updated. Sending you lots of love xx

Sunshine keeping everything crossed

Friendly good luck with the funding and I'm glad all is beginning to settle down for you

Mrs can completely understand why you need to take a Step back xx

Sunshinegirl2015 · 22/11/2016 12:19

Hello!!! It's been months since I've been on here. Still no BFP not even a whiff of one. It'll be two years this new year since we started TTC

All fertility tests on NHS for me and DH came back fine so it's "unexplained subfertility"

GP will discuss IVF with us in July if we're not pregnant by then. Such a long process.

Mascara congratulations!!! Amazing news.

Sunshine sorry to see you are still on this thread.

Still having LPs of around 10days

Still very painful AF where I have to take paracetamol, ibuprofen and prescription codine and very heavy by all GP and gynaecologist say is "everyone has different pain thresholds" Hmm

Last month I woke up at midnight in pain and took my pain killers then woke up two hours later on pain so took another lot.

Will get that BFP one day!

sunshinegirl12 · 22/11/2016 18:24

Hello Sunshine, good to hear from you I have often wondered how you were doing. Although sorry to hear you still haven't had your BFP.

I have my egg transfer today so now have 2 weeks to wait until I know if its worked. Unfortunately at the egg collection only 2 eggs were retrieved as my cyst had grown quite large which I think was affecting things, and I also bled quite a bit as they also found an endometrioma (which suggests that I have endo although have absolutely no other symptoms). Of the 2 eggs only 1 fertilised, but I suppose it only takes 1 egg. I am hoping and praying that it will work. x

Sunshinegirl2015 · 22/11/2016 19:01

I must admit I often thought of you too and wondered if you'd still be here. Fingers crossed for you!!!! When will you know? I bet it was scary but exciting at the same time!

sunshinegirl12 · 22/11/2016 19:08

I'm a bit of a wimp so for me it has been really scary as I'm petrified of needles and I couldn't stop crying before the egg collection I was so worried about the general anaesthetic. But to get to this stage has taken exactly 2 weeks and looking back, it hasn't been as bad as I expected it to be. Will be testing on the 6th so hopefully will be able to distract myself with lots of Christmas things. x

Friendlycav · 24/11/2016 10:02

That's great news Sunshine! Keeping absolutely everything crossed for you. Look after yourself over the next couple of weeks. You are PUPO! (pregnant until proven otherwise) x

Sunshinegirl2015 · 01/12/2016 04:03

Eurgh woken at 3:30am with cramp and backache and AF. A temp drop of 0.44C, 27 day cycle, 6 day luteal phase Sad

Yep fed up here! AF arrived a couple of days ago so I'm gearing myself up for a fresh round of IVF starting in January. We got rejected from NHS funding (mainly due to the incompetence of the person completing the application form) but giving it one last go and submitting another application but we're pretty resigned to the fact that we'll have to go private if we want to start in Jan...

Sunshine15, sorry AF got you too.

Sunshine12, I think it's test day for you tomorrow. I've been thinking of you and wish you all the luck in the world x

sunshinegirl12 · 05/12/2016 20:20

Hello ladies

Unfortunately IVF hasn't worked for me this time, I started spotting / cramping towards the end of last week so have been testing since then, all bfn. Tomorrow is my official test date but a positive would have shown by now, but will check once more in the morning before stopping the cyclogest. Have been feeling really down about it all, had to take a few days off work as I just couldn't pull myself together. Luckily we went for a 3 cycle package so hopefully will be able to start again in February. Have been thinking that next time will try to get signed off after transfer and maybe go away with DH for a few days, the 2ww has been horrible. Friendly, did you have time off for your IVF cycle? The clinic have offered counselling but I'm not sure yet.

Friendly, why did you get rejected? Hopefully when you re-submit they will accept you for funding.

Sorry everyone else is also fed up. It's hard at this time of year, as much as I love christmas so much of it is focused on families and children.

sunshinegirl12 · 05/12/2016 20:21

And thankyou for thinking of me xx

Friendlycav · 05/12/2016 21:11

I'm sorry to hear this Sunshine. I think the first round of IVF is really about the Doctor's understanding more about your body and how you react to the medication. Please don't lose heart as I'm sure you'll be successful next time. I agree the 2ww is awful and I took 2 weeks off after transfer and plan to do the same again in January. They are going to increase my dose of Menopur from 225mg daily to 300mg so fingers crossed that will mean they're able to collect more eggs. I would definitely take up the offer of councilling Sunshine, it certainly won't to any harm.

The NHS rejected our application because test results and forms were missing. I think we have everything for a complete application (if the personal coordinating sends everything correctly this time) but I'm convinced they'll still find a reason to reject us...

I hope you're ok Sunshine. I feel the same about Christmas, I'm so sad we don't have a family yet and can't believe we are in exactly the same position as a year ago, and the year before that... Big hugs xx

sunshinegirl12 · 05/12/2016 22:33

I said pretty much the same to my DH wondering if we'll still be in the same position this time next year...

Thats so frustrating that they messed up your application, sometimes I don't think they realise how much it means to be going through all this. Hopefully next time it will all be ok.

Are you going to take the 2 weeks off as annual leave or get signed off? I've never been signed off work before so hoping my GP will do it for me.

When I have my review meeting I'm going to see if they'll let me do gestone progesterone injections rather than cyclogest, I've read they're meant to be quite scarey (think its a big needle in the bum!!) but I really don't want the spotting again.

On a brighter note, is your DH back at home all the time now? That must be really nice for you to have him home again xx

Friendlycav · 06/12/2016 07:58

I haven't had any annual leave since the 2 weeks I took off in august for my first round of IVF so plan to take it as annual leave again in a January. I haven't been signed off before either but I think these are exceptional circumstances Sunshine and you should definitely do it. Thank you for remembering about DH, he is now home with me permanently which is just lovely and makes everything better :)

I never thought I'd see the day where you choose an injection over a suppository Sunshine! Are the injections a higher dose of progesterone? Will you do anything else differently next time? Will they keep the medication the same? xx

sunshinegirl12 · 27/12/2016 19:33

Hi ladies

Just wanted to pop on here quickly to see how you're all getting on, hope you all had a good christmas.

Friendly, any news on starting IVF next month?

I had my follow up just before xmas, the clinic think I ovulated before I went for egg collection which is why they only got 2 eggs but there had been a lot more at my last scan (towards the end of stimming my eggs had a huge growth spurt which they think is down to increased protein intake.) So the plan for next cycle is to increase my dose and also progesterone shots during the 2ww. The clinic seemed really hopeful so I feel a bit better. Xx

mascaraisamust · 27/12/2016 20:29

Sunshine that does sound hopeful. I have everything crossed for you. Keep us updated.

Hope you've managed to relax and enjoy the festivities all x

Friendlycav · 28/12/2016 16:11

Hi Sunshine,

I've been thinking of you so great to get an update. That sounds like a very positive follow up with your consultant and great that you have a plan for your next cycle. When do you think you will start again?

I got a letter from the NHS today to say our funding application has been rejected again. The reasons are we hadn't submitted my rubella result (something they didn't request when they rejected us the first time around) and they want all my consultation notes from the private ivf round Sad. I'm so frustrated as I could have submitted this all if they'd asked for it before.

Not sure if I've already mentioned but we have 3 frozen embryos (1 good, 2 not so good) so I'm planned to have a natural Frozen Embryo Transfer in Jan if my lining all looks ok. We're going to have 2 put back in me if 2 survive the freezing/thawing process.

Good luck Sunshine, do keep us updated x

sunshinegirl12 · 28/12/2016 16:39

Glad to hear you also have a plan for the new year Friendly. So what cycle day do they do the frozen transfer? So assume you won't beed any drugs, just the cyclogest after transfer? We will hopefully start again in early Feb, give ourselves a month to detox first Smile

Mascara, hope you had an extra special xmas, your first with your little one xx

Friendlycav · 28/12/2016 17:22

I'm not 100% sure yet if I'll need an ovulation trigger injection but I'll find out when I go for scans I think. As my frozen embryos were day 6 blastocysts, they'll put them back 6 days after ovulation and I'll take the cyclogest as usual as well. I'm excited but nervous as I so desperately want this to work! I haven't gone too crazy with the alcohol over Christmas so think I'm all set and day 1 for me should be this weekend!

Mascara, I echo Sunshine and hope you had a wonderful 1st Christmas with your little one xx

sunshinegirl12 · 28/12/2016 17:51

I really hope it works for you Friendly. So will they defrost all 3 even though only 2 will be put back in? How often will you need to go for scans?

DH and I have said we will ask for 2 to be put back in next time (if we get that far) even though our clinic only like to do 1, but twins would be amazing. Tbh I'm dreading going through it all again and still holding out a little hope for a natural BFP. xx
