Well, Fettle mentioned we should have a general chat thread - and I think it's a great idea!! We could have this one for idle chatter that doesn't have anything to do with actually TTC but just general stuff we want share with our TTC pals... Am I making any sense at all?? Fettle, help me out here

I'll start us off... has everyone seen the public profile that we can share with each other?? It's pretty cool... But I didn't realise how nosy I was, I just keep clicking on everyone's name now

Fettle, have you read all of the Anne books?
I am a big fan and also reread them periodically.

rahrah1 · 23/01/2007 22:20

Not to add to the argument but love Scarlett..

I know someone who's children are called Scarlett and Tommy...wicked names!

Ready · 23/01/2007 22:27

Oh I know, I just love the name and it would work perfect with our surname too. Last time we discussed it he did say he would think about it.

We had agreed on Olivia... then the ONS list came out for last year, and guess what was No.1!!! So that is out.

Thinking about it and letting me have it are not the same though.

OK... so this next question of mine is kinda related to ttc... well, more to do with pg actually... Was just wondering... how much bigger do (o)(o) usually get with pg?? I know everyone is different... but is there a rough statistic or guide???

rahrah1 · 25/01/2007 15:12

I was a 36C before hand and went up to a D cup, but was only 24 weeks..still produced milk...and they have still not bloody gone down!

Most of my friends went down when they breastfeed, and also dropped in the process

Ready · 25/01/2007 15:17

well... I've always been big busted... so a bit worried i won't be able to cope with them getting any bigger.

OP posts:
rahrah1 · 26/01/2007 10:47

I know its horrible, I hate them being so big. I think it may be because I had some tablets to dry up the milk after Bertie was born.. Hopefully they will go back to normal in another couple of months when everything has settled down.

Ready · 26/01/2007 12:44

The worst thing about big boobs is that the bras are never as delicate and pretty. I mean, the cups of mine look like babies bonnets

OP posts:
gillian1973 · 26/01/2007 15:19

LOL! I have the same problem but I have a very slight build and an F cup! Talk about out of proportion!! I get measured at John Lewis twice a year just to chcek if they have gone down (they don't) and then buy my bras on the Figleaves website. They have excellent sales and lovely designs.

Ready · 26/01/2007 17:57

This might sound really old fashioned... but I shop in M&S for my not-so-smalls... they have started to get some prettier bras in the bigger sizes! Their ceriso range is lovely.

bravissimo is good too!

fettle · 26/01/2007 20:50

Don't know what I'd do without Bravissimo!!!

BBWBabeLisa · 26/01/2007 21:25

Evenin all! Just stumbled across the thread.
Whoever was discussing buggies, theres some cool looking ones out thhere but unless you plan to drive everywhere go for one with a roomy basket underneath for shopping. Every time I go out, even if it's not to go shopping, but just for a walk, I always seem to need to either fill it with stuff to take out, or come back with it full of stuff. I dunno how the mums with those modern contraptions with no basket underneath cope! Ok, nuff said bout buggys.
PG Boobs. Mine didn't change at all during PG. BF counsellor reckoned that may be why I had a very low milk supply (I blame the midwives who ignored my cries for a pump while DD was in SCBU but I digress). I wore same size (underwire - push up even! didn't know u shouldn't) thruoughout PG. Only noticeable change in size was for about 2-3 days about 4 or 5 days post birth when milk came in, they they got big and hard.
I've lived in Avon's Enhancer bras for years, but ordered 3 recently and they've only gone and changed them. Totally different fabric/design with different stretch so now their biggest size doesn't fit me (am 46/48 D depending on make but avon's 42DD enhancer always fit like a glove).
Baby names - I chose Lola when I was only about 8 wks PG, and it wasn't in the top 100 baby names, and the world had never heard of Charlie & Lola. Within a couple of months the BBC buggered that up, but I figured it'd still be pretty unusual. Just before she was born the new top 100 list came out and it was number 93 or thereabouts, I figured I could live with that (and by then I'd already decorated the nursery and had stuff with the name on). This year's top 100 came out a coupla weeks ago and it's been the fastest rising girls name of the year. Am gutted. Bet theres gonna be half a dozen Lola's in her class now.
OK, think I'm about caught up with the thread now! DH is away on exercise til end of next week so as u might have guessed my evenings are being spent on here.
Ready - what branch of civil service r u? I've been with DWP since 98.

greedyforbabies · 26/01/2007 22:33

BBW we tried to go for unusual names too and called our dd keira! there are now a million billion keiras everywhere, so she is now officially a Kiki!

greedyforbabies · 26/01/2007 22:33

OOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo! feel like i have given away my identity AGAIN!

Ready · 27/01/2007 11:15

BBWBabeLisa, welcome to our chat thread!! Thanks for your info on the buggys... that is definitely something to bear in mind with the basket, my plan is (have I thought too much about my life as a mother do you think?) to get fit after the birth by walking lots of places with the baby, so will definitely need a roomy basket... I am like you, will want to stock up!!

Have to try to protect my identity here, I have worked within the MOD and DfT. Both in Customer Service... Do you think that could be anybody???? I am only Grade E1 or AO (depending on what you are used to)... which is probably pretty naff considering I am 27.

It's annoying when a name you like becomes super popular, because everyone just assumes that you too jumped on the bandwagon!! Which is why I am opposed to Olivia now, which is a shame cos I really like the name. Will just have to keep trying with Scarlett!

Lola is such a pretty name... isn't there a Kinks song about Lola? I would have been so miffed when Charlie and Lola was created!! I love Kiera, greedy! But for exactly the reasons above, I wouldn't choose it. But I guess you never know who is going to become a super famous person with the same name... Thinking about it, if Scarlett Johansson goes on to be a bigger star than she is already, her name might get more popular

OP posts:
BBWBabeLisa · 27/01/2007 13:02

Oooh I know bout all the songs. There were several reasons I chose it. First off, I saw it in a baby names book and thought it was nice, so put it on my shortlist. Every time I looked at the list it just stuck out for me, as it reminded me of one of the happiest years of my life. I spent a year as an exchange student in Atlanta, and my best friend there was someone I met before I went in a chat-room, and her chat name was lolababy. I then found out that Lola is short for Dolores, a name I hate, but which is my oldest friend's middle name. Then the first time I went shopping for baby things with my mum, the first rail of clothes I looked at had at the front of it a 3-6mth pink t-shirt with Baby Lola Bunny on it, I figured it was a sign!

BBWBabeLisa · 27/01/2007 13:07

Oh and ready, don't worry, I don;t think you've given yourself away by revealing your job. Could be one of thousands of people! We work on the AO/EO/HEO/SEO system in DWP (or at least we did before I went on mat leave, gawd knows what they do now!). You're not "only" an AO. The civil service couldn't function without AOs! For what it's worth, I remember working a helluva lot harder when I was an AO than I did in the higher grades, for half the appreciation. If you're happy with what you do then that's great. I've always just been one of those mega-driven ambitious ball-breaking types who wasn't happy unless there was a promotion on the horizon - till I became a mummy, now it all seems so inconsequential.

Ready · 27/01/2007 16:12

BBWBabeLisa, you really cheered me up!! Not just an AO... if only there were more managers out there in the civil service that realised that!!

I agree that the signs were all there for the name Lola... have you thought about names for your next?? I'm guessing not "Charlie" Just kidding.
