Argh I thought I posted yesterday but my post seems to have been eaten, can't remember what I was going to say now 😆

Welcome fleck no helpful advice really I guess the night feedings might be preventing your cycle from coming back completely? Completely understand not wanting to wean it's tricky! I've been lucky that DS has pretty much accepted wake up and bedtime feeds only now though not 100% of the time!

oracle is conceive plus any good? I bought some last time but didn't end up using it as got BFP on 2nd cycle. Will have to check the use by date!

Hi fleck welcome!!! And we'll done for getting to 2 yrs and beyond! I weaned recently just after his 2nd birthday and it was right for us but I know I'd feel the same as you if I weaned for a 'purpose' and it wasn't the right time. I wish you every luck getting your cycle back without weaning. How about just night weaning for now? My dh just took over nights and I slept in the spare room for a bit (we also cosleep) and he seemed to take it really well even though we continued feeding in the day for a while. Anyway I'm sure you will do what feels right for you and I'll have my fingers crossed that you're 'blessed' with af soon so you can start actively ttc!

napping sounds like an O!!! Hope you managed to dtd but even if not at least you know things are moving again!!! Yeah!

jooni no idea I'm afraid I've never had that many days...but I know it can vary person to person...without looking back on thread which cycle is this for you? Has it gone on this long before or was this a Friston cycle so your body just 'ramping up' so to speak?

Happy Friday all! It's a long weekend here so we're off to the bush. That will keep my mind off the 2ww at least! Catch up Wednesday!

lullaby We used it when ttc and were pregnant with DD the month we started trying. I don't tend to get EWCM so thought it would be good to use some!

Eek congratulations Garden!

We DTD last night, DH is now away for the weekend so is let off the hook Wink I'm not expecting anything to come of it as it would all be just far too convenient if it took just three days to conceive! But am hoping I get a period in a couple of weeks so that I at least know things are going the right way.

Garden wow, congratulations! I love seeing good news, there's hope for us all Smile. Wishing you all the very best and a h+h pregnancy.

Welcome Fleck. I agree with Oracle in that the general consensus seems to be that night-weaning helps a lot with fertility. Even if you're not ready to wean your LO completely, might it be worth trying to night-wean at least? At 2 it's unlikely that he's feeding at night for sustenance, but rather because of the comfort/imtimacy of it. Also, co-sleeping can apparently contribute to delayed return of fertility - it's the closeness to your LO around the clock that keeps those fertility-supressing hormones high. If you're open to the idea, it might be worth moving your DS to his own bed and seeing how you both do.

expat Friston cycle? This is cycle #3 for me, and I've had this extended period of EWCM in both of the last two cycles, though it does seem to be getting shorter. Prior to my first PPAF, I had EWCM on and off for several weeks, sometimes for days at a time. Last cycle I had it for 11 days, and this cycle it just ended yesterday, making it 8 days this time. I think I'm ovulating - I'm new to temping and I don't think I'm doing it very well, but I did see a rise of about .2 degrees this morning and CM finally seems to have dried up, so things are looking fairly promising for now. I'll have to see what my temps look like for the next few days.

We DTD on Weds night and I'm a bit annoyed now that we didn't do it again last night, but we should still be in with a chance if my LP is long enough this cycle. Though last cycle I think it was only about 3 days (going by CM), so... Confused

Congrats Garden, super excited that you will be joining me on the next stage of the journey. I had a feeling you were going to get good news with the symptoms you had.

I haven't night weaned yet, and tbh don't know when it will happen but I generally don't feed all day. I did read that your fertility will come back if you can go 10-12 hours in between, so maybe start by dropping a day time feed and replacing it with a snack. I find it's much easier to distract during the day than it is at night. Angus cactus is supposed to help bring back your af too.

Thanks for the welcome :). I know that night weaning is the way to go really, I think I just keep finding excuses not to! Teething, a cold etc. The thought of having to settle him without boob is quite terrifying Shock. I never expected to bf for this long but we both love it, all my bf friends got their cycles back well before this. I do have screwy hormones though.
I used conceive plus when trying for ds and we got on well with it. I've since heard that coconut oil is good too.
Wishing you all good ttc hormones!!

Ooh will look into angus castus. I seem to remember you need to be careful to stop it when actually pg, light be getting mixed up with something else. He goes 9 hours when I'm at work usually, maybe if I could persuade him not to have that just got hole feed it would help.., he won't like it though Hmm

I think that's the first feed you could try and start on, try giving him time in another way. His favourite book, going outside together. We recently got bikes and they love going out being pushed on their bikes. You just need to change the routine a bit and hopefully he won't notice not getting his reconnection/ comfort feed. Distraction is the key.

Fleck · 01/07/2016 22:24

Thanks. He's a bit off colour at the mo (excuses again!) but I'm definitely going to try. It feels much more manageable than night weaning!

fleck I know the feeling, never thought DS would be able to get to sleep without BF but with some gentle persuasion and DH doing all the hard work he got there. Although seems to be going through a sleep regression at the moment, hasn't slept well for a week - is there one at 14m?!

Report
Fleck · 02/07/2016 08:10

Hmmm I don't think either of my dc's sleep was good enough to suffer from a regression so I'm not sure Wink. That's encouraging that the night weaning wasn't too bad. We will have to bite the bullet and go for it. OH is very supportive but I think he'll find it tough.

Hi, new to the thread and would welcome some advice. DD is 13mo. Sill bf but only morning and before bed and milk supply has reduced massively. She doesn't wake at night so no night feeds. Not actively ttc but would like a 2year age gap so really need to start - but at the moment it seems like there is no point ! I do have pcos but managed to conceive dd naturally in five months, but I was having (irregular) periods. So questions... Do I need to stop bf to find out if that is stopping me from ovulating or if it is the pcos? Is there any point going to the doctor? I'd like to continue bf ideally but not necessarily at the expense of ttc. Thank you

Welcome boatrace has your AF not returned yet? It's difficult to say for sure as it seems to vary hugely some can get pregnant whilst still BFing a lot whereas others need to stop completely. According to Kellymom dramatic changes to feeding can have the most effect on fertility but if you're down to two feeds already I'm not sure what other changes you can make without weaning completely. If you've suffered PCOS in the past are you able to see a gynae and get a scan to see what's going on? I wanted a 2 year gap too and time running out! Good luck.

Report
boatrace30 · 03/07/2016 10:53

Yes no AF at all, I keep thinking its returning as I feel hormonal and have even had a few cramps but nothing. I don't think I'll be able to get an appointment with a gynae as it's about 15 years since it was diagnosed and I didn't have big issues getting pregnant (they were just starting to investigate when I got BFP). I was informally told when I had baby scans that one ovary look polycystic and the other looked fine so I was relatively hopeful. I guess I just need to fully wean. We're going on holiday in 4 weeks so I'll keep it up until then and stop after. It just makes me a bit sad :-(
