I'm planning on night weaning soon, just gathering mental strength! Opks all set for this month, so feeling a bit more on course. Any tips welcomed!

Hello, Is anyone there? Just wanted to rejoin this thread as want to TTC #3 soon... I can't right now as no cycles back yet, DD is only 10 months. I was on this (well a previous version of this) thread whilst TTC her as had very messed up cycles following the birth of my DS..AF had returned at 6 months but only for 2 cycles then went aAWOL for about 6 months and only returned after I completely gave up feeding at 11 months. It wasn't regular until about 8 months after that! Anyway, this time theres no sign of AF and Ive even started majorly cutting down and giving some bottles to see if I can jump start things. If I could just get my cycles back by Christmas Ill be happy lol.

Meh. 15 months here, day weaned and no AF. Cramping for about eight weeks, lots of periody symptoms then it goes nowhere. Also the cramping is getting less and less, whatever that means. Getting seriously frustrated because if day weaning isn't doing it then I guess I might be one of those people whose fertility comes back at 2 years + or not at all. And then what do I do? Not prepared to wean anytime soon, just seems too young.

Leamice · 06/10/2017 08:16

Well fingers crossed something is happening if you are having period symptoms and cramping. Have you tried the supplements? Vitamin E, C and B6 was what I was taking before. Oh and that Agnus castus I tried too, I'm just looking into getting some more supplies.

Really jealous you've been able to continue your breastfeeding journey to 15months. I have to finish by the time I return to work in Jan :( , I'll probably aim to be done around Christmas for the smooth transition.

howthelightgetsin · 06/10/2017 08:36

Do you have to? I'm at work full time (hence baby day weaned) and he just has food and water when I'm not there. I feel like going back to work has given me the balance I was looking for so I'm not resenting feeding because I get a good stint off from it (and I don't pump etc). The amount he ate in food increased so much by going to nursery I honestly assumed it would the change my body needed, but it would seem not so far ...

Leamice · 06/10/2017 09:18

Yeah, I'm also returning to work full time but work as cabin manger for an airline, mix of early/late shifts so there's not a set time I'd be able to feed at home, also no pumping facilities or opportunity to whilst onboard aircraft and unpredictable with delays so just wouldn't work at all :(

It's hard to know what to do best when you want another but don't want to deprive your baby. You're right, would be awful to stop if you're both not ready. Something else I remember reading last time was about limiting length of feeds as it's the nipple stimulation that makes the hormone. But then that's hard as youre basically putting an end to the comfort sucking which is really what they are using feeding for at that age.

My son was so independent and really was ready to stop at 11 months he really just fed and then came off , it was me who was reluctant lol. But my girl seems much more into the comfort sucking so am thinking it will be much tougher to stop.

Hello, anyone still here? :) I was hoping to join in, but was looking for advice. My LO is only 4 months old and I'm EBF, and he's still feeding A LOT during the night, so is conceiving usually pretty much a lost cause until he starts dropping night feeds?

My period still hasn't returned, but is it maybe worth trying out OPKs to see if there's any sign of ovulation...?

BridgetDoodle · 11/11/2017 22:22

Hello! Also here looking for some advice/hope. DD is 8 months, night weaned and as of last week we're down to 3 day feeds. No sign of AF at all but possibly had some wet cervical mucus a few days ago. Just wondering if anyone has any tips? I was going to start charting my basal temp, just need to get a better thermometer!

curliegirlie · 13/11/2017 11:24

Hi all, just to give you all a bit of hope, I got my BFP at the end of September and am now about 10 weeks pregnant! It took us a while (it was cycle 12!) but there’d been no recent change in my DD’s feeding pattern. She’s 27 months and still had quite a bit of milk in the evening, over night and in the morning. It’s just in the last day or so actually that I think she may be self weaning - I presume my milk supply must have decreased or it tastes different as she was getting really frustrated, biting and jiggling my boob around before giving up!

Good luck all of you xxx
