Hi lullaby, thanks for your stats, and congrats on your pregnancy - fingers crossed the rest of the pregnancy & birth is a doddle 😁

We are currently trying to night wean after a few terrible nights of DD feeding all night long, i even fainted at work i was so exhausted! Which of course has sparked rumours of me being pregnant. I even poas just to check, which was of course bfn.

So now dh is getting up at night and giving cuddles and water when needed. It's going ok (though we only started last night)... Fingers crossed it brings back AF & fertility.

Hope everyone else is well

Eclecticmama · 23/03/2017 21:43

Bessy how was your acupuncture? I know of a few mummies who used it at the end of pregnancy and enjoyed it. Might be worth me looking into it...
Great to hear your night weaning was successful, can't imagine how nice it'll be to wake up refreshed in the morning!

Eclecticmama · 23/03/2017 21:44

dolphin did the feeding during the day settle? Do you think it was a growth spurt or illness or something?

bakingmad83 · 24/03/2017 06:09

Great to hear your news Lullaby, gives the rest of us hope!

Good luck with night weaning Eclectic and hopefully it'll bring your cycles back.

Making progress here. The last week I've stopped bringing DS back to bed around 4/5, as although it let me sleep for longer he'd feed an hour or two non stop. Getting up that early is hard, but he just has a 5 min feed in his room and that's it till around 7pm, when again it's just a quick 5 mins. Some nights he's only waking once. Seems that since I became stricter with when he feeds, he's also started cutting down on the amount/length of feeds himself.

Currently on CD47 - made it to CD49 last month, so hoping this cycle isn't going to be even longer! I've been getting night sweats and there've been a few things that have tasted or smelled odd recently, so was wondering if I could have been pregnant. But inclined to think that's wishful thinking - did a test at CD32, when I had a couple of days of feeling nauseous and really bloated, but that was negative.

Bessyboot · 24/03/2017 07:55

Hi All
Night weaning still going well - she is waking up an hour or so earlier then she did before (usually about 6am now) but think that's a small price to pay, plus 6am doesn't seem so bad now that it's light (and have actually been asleep all night!!).

Had first acupuncture session on Monday, had a bit of a weird reaction this time in that as soon as she started I suddenly got really sweaty palms and feet and just felt really hot. That went away after about 5 mins though then it was just really relaxing. The lady says she is going to read up on how to support trying to bring my cycle back whilst still breastfeeding as she's not specifically treated that before (she's not a fertility specialist like I saw first time round - but now I have lo I don't have time to travel the distance to see the specialist!) she says that she knows the lady I saw before though so will speak to her about it. Because of Easter hols I'm not going again for 3 weeks so until then I will keep temping and hope that it shows that something is happening. Think I need a new thermometer though (just got the one out that's been in a drawer for 2 years!) it's been giving some weird results- or maybe my bbt has gone a bit strange if body is trying to start ovulating again?

Good luck to everyone trying night weaning and thanks for good news pregnancy stories 😀 Xx

Bessyboot · 24/03/2017 07:57

Sorry you have probably put above but how old are your little ones eclectic and barkingmad83? Xx

Eclecticmama · 24/03/2017 08:19

My DD is 12 months (how did that happen!! Can't believe how fast she is growing up!)

Eclecticmama · 24/03/2017 08:21

It's giving me hope to hear all your positive night weaning stories, last night was pretty tough, but i think we're making progress Smile

Bessyboot · 24/03/2017 08:42

I know where does the time go?! Mine is 18 months tomorrow 😳

Dolphindot11 · 24/03/2017 09:04

Hi everyone sounds like u are all making great progress well done! My LO has still been wanting to feed during the day again, I think she's just going through a clingy phase bless her. But I'm pleased cos this cycle was 5 weeks long instead of 6 weeks so that's something :)

bakingmad83 · 24/03/2017 20:29

Hi Bessyboot, DS is 27 months, can't believe it, hardly seems anytime since he was tiny! Sounds like all's going well for you, I've just accepted the earlier wake ups too and worth it for the end result.

Good to hear you've had a shorter cycle this time Dolphin. I'm hoping that might be me next month, as 7 week cycles will get frustrating, as you spend weeks wondering if you might possibly be pregnant and start looking for symptoms. I've been quite crampy the last 2 days, so thinking AF may finally be on her way.

bakingmad83 · 26/03/2017 20:34

How's everyone doing?

Still no AF here at CD49. Although I said to myself I wasn't going to test again this cycle, think I may in the morning, as felt nauseous on and off the last couple of days, weeing more often and as well as the same back and strange (tmi) rectal pains I did in early pregnancy with DS. Will let you know the result, though don't want to get my hopes up too much just in case my body is playing tricks on me!

Bessyboot · 26/03/2017 20:50

Fingers crossed for you bakingmad 😀
We're trying dd in the cot next to the bed tonight (with side down so it's like a giant co-sleeper!). She was very excited about being in it earlier and dh was v confident that he'd get her down in it no problem but I'm watching them on the monitor and it doesn't appear to be going to plan 😂 Clocks going forwards haven't helped - probably not a very great idea to try it tonight 😩

bakingmad83 · 26/03/2017 21:01

Thanks Bessyboot :) Hope new sleeping arrangements work better than you think, DD might pleasantly surprise you :) The hour change played havoc here too. After bath, supper and story DS was all for putting his shoes on and going out for a walk seeings as it was still light outside! You wouldn't thought he'd been up since half 5. I'm expecting he's going to revert back to half 4 get up from the morning. Not feeling as tired as I remembered in early pregnancy, which has put doubt in my mind, but guess every pregnancy different and maybe I'm just so used to being tired these days I haven't really noticed, and suppose you're not out till AF shows up, which she hasn't.

curliegirlie · 26/03/2017 23:48

BessyBot in what way are your bbts coming out weird? I bought a new thermometer after my original one went walkabout and I've also been getting odd results. I'm totally failing at temping just when I've woken up, but out of interest have occasionally taken my temp at random times of day- and they've been coming out as really low (under 36 degrees) even though I'm post ov. I seem to remember from last time round post waking temps would come out as higher rather than lower, so I'm completely confused. Maybe my new thermometer is just crap Hmm

bakingmad83 · 27/03/2017 07:02

Morning ladies, was all psyched up to take test earlier, only to find I didn't have one in. Will have to buy one later and test in the morning.

Bessyboot · 27/03/2017 07:52

Bakingmad - oh no! Hope you get hold of one today and get the result you hope for tomorrow 😊

Curlie- My temp dropped 0.5 degC for 2 days so I was excited because thought it was the ovulation drop but then it's just gone back to the same level as it was before ( not a few 10ths higher) so don't think I have?
When I was temping before first pregnancy I by no means got a "perfect" looking chart but it was usually obvious to see the rise after ovulation and I got a bit dip immediately before the rise.
TMI warning : I have had fertile CM most of the time for months now! Think I read somewhere that this can happen when body is gearing up to ovulate but bf is still holding it back? Anyone else experienced that? Xxx

hopsalong · 27/03/2017 16:36

Hello, just dropping in. I was worrying in the summer about weaning and ended up doing so completely and getting pregnant in same month. (Now wonder if this was really necessary/ why I was in such a rush.)

But I remembered one thing that might be useful to you. There is a lot of discussion on the internet about whether you can get a BFP with breast milk. In my case (had stopped feeding so could still express milk but guess was quite thick), this was absolutely true: got a very strong BFP with milk 8/ 9 DPO, when it was still very squinty otherwise. And for me was not true that milk gave false positives because tried earlier in the cycle to check. I wasn't sure whether to trust the milk positive but turned out to be absolutely right and a bit ahead of the urine one. (Sorry if anyone finds this gross. Personally I found doing it with milk more pleasant, but takes longer to saturate.)

bakingmad83 · 27/03/2017 20:35

Thanks Bessyboot! I seem to remember a few weeks before af restarted in November I had ewcm. It came out of the blue, as I'd been dry as a bone since DS came along.

That's interesting re getting a bfp with breast milk hopsalong! Think I may stick with urine one for ease :) Congrats on your bfp! How many weeks to go or is your little one already here?

I'd forgotten how much pregnancy tests cost from chemists. Previously had got 3 cheapies for 89p at Home Bargains, but cheapest at Boots was 2 for £5. Could have just got the one for £4, but thought I may need another if this one turns out to be bfn.

Eclecticmama · 27/03/2017 21:21

good luck baking! fingers crossed for you xx

Eclecticmama · 27/03/2017 21:25

hi hopsalong! congratulations on your bfp, as you due soon then?
Thats really interesting about milk containing BhCG, might try that if my cycles ever return!

Eclecticmama · 27/03/2017 21:25

oops Blush

bakingmad83 · 27/03/2017 21:26

Thanks Eclectic, will update in the morning. DH was impatient and wanted me to test this afternoon, but in case with my crazy long cycles I'm not as far along as I could be, wanted to use first morning urine. When I tested on CD32 when I was getting symptoms it was in the afternoon, so didn't want a repeat of that. I'll be CD51 tomorrow if it isn't bfp.

hopsalong · 27/03/2017 21:32

Yes, definitely easier with urine bakingmad! But if you're desperate to "know" for sure and urine is producing a squinty maybe positive then I recommend milk for the second test in the pack...

DC2 not here yet. I'm due end of next month. Just was thinking of this thread because I was getting baby stuff ready and started to feel a bit overwhelmed at the thought of going straight from breastfeeding to pregnancy to breastfeeding again (found it really difficult at start last time though loved it once established)! All seems to have happened quite quickly, but last summer I was convinced I would never get pregnant again... Sending good wishes to everyone at every stage on the way.
